Eagles at Bengals Game Thread
Another slow day around these parts. This time, you might want to know why. Northwest Cable News asked me to film a segment that will air tonight at 9:30 and 11:30 or thereabouts. I do not have cable and so I do not have Northwest Cable News. I will have to trust that it was the real Tracy Berry that held the door for me and the real Tracy Berry I held the door for, and the studio and its employees are not part of some covert plan to place microchips under my skin.
Anyway, game tonight. And since coverage has been light recently this thread can double as an open Seahawks discussion thread. To answer the most obvious question: It depends on what Seattle trades for Vincent Jackson.

Well that doesn't answer my question
What kind of trade would you be happy with? Anything higher than a 2nd, including 2nd + late or player, would be too much in my mind.
I want revenge and to get our 3rd round back!

Yeah! Let's trade them giving back our 3rd for Vincent Jackson.
That’ll really show em.
by jacobstevens on Aug 20, 2010 4:51 PM PDT up reply actions
How would that work?
Our 1st for their 3rd and VJax?

Thanks
and a box full of my book arrived. So, it’s been a nice day. Now maybe Tapp can do something.
When does the book go on sale?
Or how can I get a copy to read halfway?

No Old Spice?
If I had to pick the results of one or the other, I’d go Old Spice over Axe. Axe just gets you random attractive actresses to make out with you. Old Spice convinced Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan and other famous cuties to fall in love with a (sort of) former Seahawk!
It's true.
Y’ know.

My sister seems to buy me a Seahawks book every year.
I’ll drop some hints that this is the best one to get me, followed by Winfreva.
This will be the first time I get a real look at Kevin Kolb
And see how the Eagles handle Tapp.

Oh, Siragusa. Exactly what I've been missing all summer.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Bengals have Cedric Peerman
In case I’m too drunk to remember that later tonight. And, yes, I’mma celebratin.
I like the end-around to TO idea.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Okay, Kolb. Impress me.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Am I the only one who feels the Bengals are going to bomb badly this season?
Looking for signature ideas.
You're not.
I feel they stumbled into the playoffs by dumb luck last year.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
If Cincy has a really bad year (like 4-12 and not their usual 7-9 or 8-8)
I think they’ll draft a QB. Maybe Locker. Maybe Mallett.
Looking for signature ideas.
Will they really give up on Palmer?
He’s, what, 30 or so? I’ve seen some serious talent from him, it’s the supporting cast that needs help.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Other than the torn ACL in that playoff game, what injury concerns does he have?
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
torn ligament in his elbow in 2008
I’m certain he had an ankle injury last season.
Looking for signature ideas.
I heard about that
Maybe I’m just insanely bullish on Palmer, I loved him at USC, and always thought he was held back in Cinci by the lack of O-line help.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Held back?
He was a monster in his peak years with Housh and Ocho, prior to injury.
I’m always hoping for him to miraculously return to form but it’s unlikely.

My favorite all time "eating crow" moment
Had to be when there was a some noises outside the night before and my wife said to me “I think its Coyotes” – I looked at her and said “No way”
The second I said that I looked outside and saw a Coyote in my backyard.

I've had too many to remember
But then, like Jim Mora, I’ve never failed at anything in my whole life.
is that a good brick or a bad brick?
i’m stuck at work….
They should've traded for Nick Reed instead of Darryl Tapp
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Q/PM is way too smart for that.
Nick Reed is worth at least 5 1st round picks from 2011-2015.
Looking for signature ideas.
Reed's trade vale is high enough that you can exploit it, Madden-style
In that you trade your 1st for the worst team in the league’s 1st in Week 17.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Damn, never thought of that one.
My favourite is the old “sign every big free agent, then trade for draft picks” maneuver.
If you turn off the trade deadline, it's laughably easy to build a juggernaut in Madden.
Believe it or not, winning 8 Super Bowls in a row kinda gets boring on that game.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
I'd do the trade for Jackson
But I’m not really good at negotiating and I don’t think my idea of sending Branch, Hill, and a few draft picks would be enough.
Looking for signature ideas.
I suggest you introduce them to the wonders of Nick Reed
If the Chargers include their next six 1st round picks with Jackson, then that would make it a fair trade.
Cedric Benson suddenly being good is a welcome surprise.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Looks like Ochocinco tripped there. Can't totally blame that pick on Palmer.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Is Church Van playing?
Because running with McCoy doesn’t seem right on 3rd and 1.
Looking for signature ideas.
So Pacman Jones is relegated to returning duties now?
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
They explained that in the beginning of the game
It’s widescreen, letterboxed for standard 4:3

Okay thanks
It’s only a few months ago I watched some things in HD. Awesome awesome stuff.
Looking for signature ideas.
Eh?
The commentators also called it “HD” and “SD”. That’s not right is it? SD and HD are measurements of quality, I thought we were talking about widescreen format being letterboxed to standard format, with the two black bars.
by Thomas Beekers on Aug 20, 2010 5:38 PM PDT up reply actions
It confused me because the commentators did it too
Meh, not important either way.
Widescreen rules because it’s actually physically better-fitted for human eyes.
HD rules because it’s HD
That’s what matters.

I will pretty much permanently have Dhani Jones in my memory
For trailing Brandon Stokley on that fluke play last year by Denver.
Looking for signature ideas.
He looks very panicked in the pocket.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Yeah, he doesn't look comfortable at all.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
You know looking at the first 7 games the Seahawks play
They have 5 winnable games, possibly 6 if the Chargers have another slow start.

If I was an Eagles fan I’d be panicky right now.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Philly fans totally took McNabb for granted
part of me wants Kolb to be a gigantic bust, just so they realize that not EVERY quarterback is going to guide their team to 4 straight NFC Championship games. Fucking ingrates!
I've missed Siragusa.
In other news, I’m welcoming back a herpes outbreak.

Did the Bengals just decline a 15 yard penalty to accept a 5 yard penalty?

I don't know any sane coach that would decline a kick-catch interference penalty.....

I was just about to say
Iggles bring enough to still compete, but won’t do much in that division.
A lot of question marks surrounding the Bengals too.

I've got both of them missing the playoffs

Kolb started two full games last year.
and Jackson combined for 250 rec. yards and 2 TD’s.
At the very least, Jackson is the safer bet.
Makes sense.
I just keeping looking at how Marshall gets over 100 receptions per year, and it doesn’t seem to matter if he’s in a different offense or not.
Of course, Marshall is more likely to punch someone, put a limb through an entertainment center or just quit playing than Jackson, so there’s that.
B-Marsh also has the advantage of being Henne's only target
But I do expect them to throw it less, and lean more on their RB game than Philly realistically can. So more opportunities for Jackson.
by Thomas Beekers on Aug 20, 2010 6:21 PM PDT up reply actions
Marshall got 100 balls from Kyle freaking Orton last season
I see no reason that he couldn’t do it again in Miami….but DeSean could still have the better season.
Is the Eagles' O-line really that awful?
Because I’ve hardly seen Kolb look comfortable tonight.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Oh, I thought you said kicker..
or backup kicker. Ha ha.
Yeah, so, maybe still kicker. You probably get paid a little less, and will never be a star, but you’ve got a job for about 20 years making much more than most chumps, and don’t get hit very often. I’d go kicker.
Can't say I'm impressed with Kolb tonight
He can’t handle pressure, tries to sack himself Seneca-style, and trusts his arm too much to throw it into triple-coverage.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
That's a problem too
The O-line looks awful, from what I saw. I feel like they’re setting up Kolb for failure.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Does Scott look better than Benson did?
I’ve seen fewer than half the snaps but he looks good.

Not that it’s working, since he’s been utterly invisible this whole game

There have been a few receivers who have been successful even with below-average QBs
Jackson may be one of them; I don’t see how improving our receiving crew will be some kind of hindrance.
Good assuming we don't overpay
He fits the system we’re trying to set up perfectly.

Kolb keeps making his own pressure
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Then they would need coyote repellent.
Vicious cycle.
Ocho has taken some nasty hits over the years.
Even Brian Russell cleaned his clock. And it was before the whistle!
3 illegal formations in one half is just inexcusable, especially in preseason.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Shouldn't the coaches keep him out?
I thought we were supposed to be stricter on (possible) concussions?
by Thomas Beekers on Aug 20, 2010 6:36 PM PDT up reply actions
As far as I know, concussions are only diagnosable through the symptoms
and if Chad says he’s ok, well …
I'm pretty sure he set it up like that himself
Going from his tweets.
It makes sense, somehow I think Ocho would be quicker in taking a step back for the team in this setup than TO. Tho they both need the ball.
This interview is p fun. Ochocinco will have a great Hollywood career someday. Rivaling the Boz’!

That was not as maddening for me
As throwing the ball 36 times with an injured Hasselbeck and random men off the street for receivers.
