The Okung deal and hold out is more interesting than I thought. We were notified as benchmark contracts for Williams, Berry & Haden came in, and the imaginary slot system a lot of us seem to apply suggested the ballpark range for the contract had pretty much been outlined.
Really, looking at this, there's a greater range, between overall money, guaranteed money, for Berry and Haden, than most of the "slots" as I've noticed. Relatively speaking it's a pretty big range.
Which partially explains why this contract hasn't gotten done sooner, but more interesting to me, is the opportunity presented to Idzik & Schneider to get a very favorable contract put in place.
Or maybe Okung will get money on the bigger side, I dunno, but it will be an interesting study of this regime's negotiating acumen. In the offseason they came off as poor stewards of non-liquid assets. Here, they may put a little more polish on the coup of an inaugural draft they had.
