Post Your Hawk: Week 1
Ahhhh....FINALLY the football season has started. After a seemingly interminable offseason, the time has finally come.
Do you remember the rules? Choose which Seahawks player you think will have the best performance, and pick the score. This year, I was thinking of doing a running leader board for those who are closest. I'll have to separate categories (how close you were on your player's prediction, and how close you were with the final score of the game); I'll assign points for number of yards off, assign six points for touchdowns, etc., so in both cases, the person with the lowest total at the end of the season will be the winner. As for prizes, well I can't think of any right now, but that may change as the season progresses.
My week 1 Hawk: Mike Williams. I think he continues his preseason success with a moderately big game. 6 catches, 90 yards, 1 TD. Hawks win 21-17.

Matt Hasselbeck
Matt has a good game, throws for about 250 yards and 2 tds, no picks.
Seahawks win 23 to 17.
p.s. I look for Chris Clemons to make a couple of big plays also, but I will go with Matty.

Prize?
Maybe John would consider donating one of his books? Just a thought.

If there are three or four who are close
part of the next week’s “post your hawk” should be a vote to choose the winner between the previous week’s finalists.
inside of a dog it's too dark to read.
Tats makes a triumphant return.
5 tackles, 2 beautful Alex Smith picks and he’s in on a fumble.
Hawks win 27-13.
Leon Washington
Couple home run hits. 12 carries for 64 yards. 2 TD’s, one on a kick return.
Seahawks win 24-14.
I like the idea of tracking and competing, but it might be really hard to judge how close we are on the players. You can’t really compare defensive and offensive predictions for one, and some predictions have more or less information. That said, I don’t think it needs to be a precise science.
That's a good point about defensive contributions.
Any ideas on how to even out the scoring?

Clemons.
2 sacks.
Hawks 10-7
It's Great to be a Florida Gator!
09/07/10: Craig Terrill, the Brian Russell of Defensive Tackles, finally cut.
Very similar to what I was going with.
Well, I’ll adjust it. Branch, 4 for 67, 1 TD. Hawks, 21-17.

I think Robert just had an orgasm and he doesn't know why.
Because we’re rebels. Accurate, intelligent, introspective rebels. And damn proud of it my friend. - CapSea
I think Force will have a decent game
Perhaps 18 carries for 80 yards, a rushing TD, and 6 catches for 45 yards.
Hawks win: 27-21.
Every time you masturbate... God kills a kitten? Fuck kittens.
Curry - 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss
Lose 10-13
"Pass rushers enter the world of Okung but never leave." - JM
Hasselbeck: 20-37, 267 yards, 1 INT, 2 TD's.
Due to us being in catchup mode.
Hawks 17
49ers 27
Prove me wrong, Seahawks.
Trufant
1 int
Seahawks 23
Niners 13

*Polumbus! 2 Sacks allowed..... matt lives!*
Seahawks 21
Niners 17
12th Man.
SF commits 4 false starts; additionally, at some point one of the rookies on the O-line is slow to react and Alex Smith is sacked as a result.
Hawks win 23-20.
Thank you, Walter Jones.
Thank you, Ken Griffey Jr.
Carlson with a Nice game
7 Catches, 91 yds, 1TD
Hawks 27 – Niners 20
Hawks Win!!
After looking at all the permutations of people's picks for their Hawk
I don’t think a point system will work for that. Perhaps just a score prediction will be the competition.

Justin Forsett - 12 carries for 68 yards and a TD
30-13 49ers.
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
Mebane - 4 tackles, 1 for a loss, 1 "squish", 1 FF
Mebane “squishes” Smith, maintaining the recent curse of the 9ers resulting in a wide open NFC West for 2010.
Shanghai Kelly's on Polk St. in San Francisco is the worst bar on the face of the earth (at least on Sunday mornings).
And final score: 16-14 Seachix on the foot of Mare's 3 FGs
Shanghai Kelly's on Polk St. in San Francisco is the worst bar on the face of the earth (at least on Sunday mornings).
If Mebane does that he should have his jersey retired
To keep his awesomeness.
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
Possible, or he could change his jersey # to 98 from 92
freeing up a certain someone to return with #92 . . . slingshot, that is what I think they call it in NASCAR.

My Hawk is Alex Smith, who will contribute to the Seattle win
With one delay of game, one fumble or two interceptions, while only being a nuisance with 190-ish passing yards, one scramble for a first down, and one touchdown. 24-14, Hawks

Yeah sorry
Magic 8 ball says this be ugly. Hawks 6 – San Fran 17. And I’m not hoping this will happen, so don’t go callin me a fair-weather douchbag!
I think you'll find that a good number of us are pessimists.
No shame in predicting that the Seahawks will lose.

Mike Williams
Becomes the go-to guy as the Hawks are forced to pass while a sloppy O-line struggles with run-blocking. 135 YDS 1 TD. Hawks win thanks to an opportunistic defense and good Hasselbeck outing: 17-13.
By the way, when judging becomes difficult, you could pick the top 5 or so then let the community vote on whose prediction should be most lauded.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
Leon Washington
56 yard run, 83 total yards 1 TD 3 catches for 36 yards and 1 tackle
Seahawks 17 49ers 24
Brandon Mebane
6 tackles, 2 sacks (one for a safety). Seattle wins 16-10
Matt Hasselbeck
38-39 573 yards 9 TD’s 9 car. 120 yards 1 TD’s
Hawks win 72-0

Lawyer Milloy.
3 tackles for a loss, 2 FF, including causing a safety and scares Crabtree into missing another TD pass. ’Hawks win 12-7.
You set up that poll for failure, Phildopip.
The “fuck off and die” option is just too tantalizing. Even I, who is fine with the format of the “Pick your Hawk” we’ve been doing for a while, just could not resist the temptation of telling someone to fuck off and die.

Earl Thomas will be my Hawk. Phil, you ignorant slut!
1 pick, 7 tackles
Hawks offense sputters, although the defense comes up with 2 turnovers, and often good field position, they gradually wear down given the typical Hawks time of possession deficit, and Gore runs wild in the 2nd half, as the niners repeatedly smash over the leo.
Niners win 27-13, including 2 turnovers by the Hawks
I will pitch in my two cents:
*Surprisingly, Matt Hasselbeck experiences good pocket protection and will have a good game, completing 60% of its passes and key third-down conversions, but wills till have more interceptions than TDs thrown
*The running game will have more or near 4.0 ypc with a rejuvenated running game led by Leon Washington and Justin Forsett, but the team will not rush for 100 yards
*Offensive line will experience some struggles (I’m looking at you, Unger), but big plays will shadow their inconsistencies.
*Mike Williams will be targeted the most by Matt, but Deion Branch will make more yards
*Golden Tate is expected to run a reverse
*John Carlson will make little to no impact statistically, but will be key to handling the defensive line pressure
*Chris Clemons is expected to get a sack with the assistance of Brandon Mebane
*Lofa Tatupu will stack up the middle in a matchup against Frank Gore, recording 8 tackles, but Gore will still run for 100+ yards
*Marcus Trufant will get a pick, Earl Thomas will be flagged for pass interference
*Game is won within the final minutes, seconds
Score: Seahawks wins by 1-4 points
I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul - Invictus
Butler
ugly defensive game, Butler makes the game winning TD catch along with 3 other catches, totaling 38 yards.
Final score: 13-10, Seattle
I've got to go with Butler.
I’m going with 4 catches, but it’s got to be more than 38 yards.
So, Butler: 4 catches, 74 yards, no touchdown.
Final score? Crap. Uh… 49ers 27, ’Hawks 20. One of our two touchdowns? Punt return for a touchdown, possibly by Tate. The other one is BMFMW, in the corner of the endzone on a longer-than-expected pass by Hasselbeck. Lock it up!
Branch
6 grabs (3 of which on 3rd down) for 86 yards and a TD. Hawks take it, 23-21.

So, who wins?
Haven’t had a chance to review this thread or the game stats.
inside of a dog it's too dark to read.
Hehe: I had 27-13, only the wrong way
My heart wanted to pick the Hawks, but my head lead me to pick the 49rs.
Best Sunday of the year, however. I couldn’t be happier for my bad prediction. :)
I rec'd anti citizen for picking Alex Smith
I like his stat line………“With one delay of game, one fumble or two interceptions, while only being a nuisance”
I like this idea for picking the player performance.
Score predictions can be figured out by adding the difference up I think.
