It is impressive to see all the "experts"
Try to explain how the outcome of the game was 180 out from their projection.
I didn't watch the postgame
What were they saying?
McNabb has an absolute rocket. He throws harder while running backwards than Hasselbeck throws in his sex dreams.

Hardest Fgulls laugh in a long time.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
Glad to see Sando owning up to his prediction that the Seahawks would start 0-6:
That would be me, your NFC West guy. I’ll stand up tall and take full responsibility for predicting an 0-6 start for Seattle. The reasoning was defensible, in my view, but the lesson seems clear. The unknown isn’t always a bad thing. The Seahawks said they upgraded personnel at most positions and I’d say the evidence supported them at least for one day. Specifically, Carroll had said he hoped the home crowd would help the pass-rush become effective, and that happened in this game. Chris Clemons gave Joe Staley trouble.
He is the only national guy to eat crow and say he was fully wrong
Others are saying they were wrong about SF or that they just had some bad breaks. No one else is giving us much credit.
There is a difference between hating and constructive analysis
and slobering over a team that hasn’t proven anything.
I am not sure why people are using this game as way to determine the success or failure of the off-season.
Its more of a case study as to why you should never jump to far to one extreme before you have played any games
I wasn’t that bothered by the negative coverage that we got in the offseason, by most standard measures, we shouldn’t be good since we are clearly “rebuilding”.
I am bothered by the momentum of love for teams like SF who still haven’t proven that they deserve it.
Y'know, I keep seeing Polumbus degraded on Rotoworld.
"Okung’s absence leaves human turnstyle Tyler Polumbus guarding Matt Hasselbeck’s blind side."
"Polumbus graded out as one of the NFL’s poorest tackles regardless of side last season."

And a few days ago, he was called a "proven liability," Pretty unfair. I thought he did fairly well today basically thrown to the wolves on the left side of the line.
It's Great to be a Florida Gator!
09/07/10: Craig Terrill, the Brian Russell of Defensive Tackles, finally cut.
I agree. I thought he did well today.
I mean there was occasional pressure and 1 sack from his side. But for the most part, he exceeded my expectations.
I'd say its unfair
We only gave up one sack against a supposedly “almost elite” D.
I have a feeling in the end him and the aquisition of Andrews will prove key through this season.
Loved the fire hydrant when he was here
seemed like a really great guy. Hope he gets heals well. better to blow out your ACL in week 1 then week 16
I'm digging the yellow pants with the burgundy jersey for Washington.
Much like Philly today, I would keep these all season.
So a Niner fan and his girlfriend/date/wife sat next to me at the game today.
He got hammered, tried to talk trash, complained about Smith being horrible and then left at the end of the third quarter. It was hilarious.
Sad? Totally hilarious
If you get drunk and talk trash, you risk the disappointment of watching your team lose.
Nothing else. It’s not like he got beat up in the parking lot or anything.
And he got to see a Seahawks game at Qwest field, which is something he can tell his grandkids about.
And he got to spend a weekend in Seattle, which has got to be way better than spending it in San Fransisco.
And he’s got a girlfriend. How bad can life be? Maybe he’ll get some good sympathy sex in the hotel room tonight.
Or maybe she'll just give him a towel lay on while he is vomiting.

I bet he stomps on Shanahan’s face in the 4th quarter…
Just got back from the game
It was so nice with all the 49’ers fans talking shit the whole way in, patting themselves on the back celebrating their division title. After they slithered out with their coats zipped up (on a hot day) to cover their jerseys.
Sooooo nice.

There must be some kind of genetic difference in taste bud receptors going on here. That may have been the worst beer I have ever had. I used to pound Wild Rose, Steel Reserve, Slurricane, Mad Dog, etc. and sipped that a couple times and then tossed it.
I think it was giving me spontaneous diabetes. How can a beer be that sweet?

Seahawks Fans Cannot Be Cured
Growing up the Seahawks and the Niners were my teams
Split my adult life in SF and Seattle.
I grew up hating the Packers, Cowboys, and Vikings in the NFC and the Broncos, Raiders, and Chiefs in the AFC.
When the Seahawks moved to the NFC west I was traumatized……only after Eddy D was forced out and the Yorks took over the Niners was I able to pick one over the other.
I still love the niners…..just love the seahawks more. The situation makes me feel like a rich guy with a mistress.

I don't know why Toyota came out with all these hillbilly-focused truck commercials.
It’s not even an American company. Those are the kinds of commercials that you’d expect to be put out by Ford or Chevrolet.

Still. I thought they focused on fuel efficiency and tried to, you know, make their commercials

09/07/10: Craig Terrill, the Brian Russell of Defensive Tackles, finally cut.
by Wayward Llama on Sep 13, 2010 3:42 AM PDT up reply actions
No it wasn't...
the rule is pretty clear about this. You have to maintain possession all the way through the catch when going to the ground.
Without the rule there is too much gray area.
If that were the case than it was still a catch. His ass/knee hit the ground before the let go of the ball so he would have been down before the ball being released.
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
No....
You either have to complete a “football move” or maintain possession. He did neither.
He had possession in the end zone.
That’s a catch.
by Aaron Campeau on Sep 12, 2010 7:13 PM PDT up reply actions
No he didn't....
Possession isn’t gained until he finishes his fall to the ground. This is true on the 40 yard line or the end zone.
But he only started falling after he had two feet on the ground while running.
He had two feet down with possession, then he fell, then his ass hit the ground, and then the ground caused the fumble.
This sequence is a clear touchdown.
The ground didn't cause a fumble.
He sat the ball on the ground intentionally after he was down and his momentum was stopped. He sat the ball down and stood up.
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
Two problems:
1. The ground caused the fumble, which is also a clear rule.
2. Once a player has possession in the end zone, it is a touchdown and leaves no opportunity for a fumble.
Johnson’s catch appeared to meet both of these standards.
No....
1. There is no rule about ground causing fumbles.
2. He never gained possession.
My goodness.
There is a clear rule that the ground cannot cause a fumble.
And Johnson had complete control of the ball until it hit the ground.
Except, he had control of the ball when it hit the ground as well.
He simply left the ball on the ground as he was standing up.
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
What?
Are you saying that a player running in the open field cannot trip, fall, and lose the ball? The ground can cause a fumble.
Still that has NOTHING to do with this discussion. There was no fumble. There was an incomplete pass, and the last time I checked, the ONLY thing that can cause an incomplete pass is the ground.
The rule about maintaining possession all the way through the catch exists for a reason. You have to have a line where there isn’t a judgment call.
the ground can only cause a fumble is the player is not touched by a defender either causing him to go down or while on the way down.
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
ONLY if there is no defender involved in the process.
Which IS NOT the case for CJ’s TD.
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
That's besides the point...
YOU CANNOT FUMBLE IN YOUR OPPONENTS ENDZONE.
In order to fumble, you have to have possession. If you have possesion in your opponents endzone, then it is a TD. Therefore, you cannot fumble in your opponents endzone.
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
Ok...
So at midfield a WR jumps in the air to make a catch and gets hit in the process. Holds the ball firmly until he lands squarely on his back and the ball dislodges and comes out.
You’re saying that by rule this is a catch? It’s not.
The ball did not dislodge.
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
Yes it did....
In both my example and in CJ’s case today.
This would be easier if we had a gif
I’m going to look for one.
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
No, that is an incomplete pass.
However, if the reciever maintained possesion then sat the ball on the ground as he was standing back up, that would be a catch, That is what CJ did.
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
Not even close.
CJ was still going DOWN when the ball touched the ground.
Technically he was down before the ball touched the ground.
Cause his bum hit. The ball did squirt out after it hit the ground though.

Classic NFL
To emphasize letter of the law over what is obvious to anyone who watches the play. If the rule says that’s not a catch then it’s the rule and the cowardly officials who are at fault. That’s a catch. Possession, two hands, two feet.
Clearly a catch. Two feet down, not bobbled
Setting down the football with clear possession with one large hand. The slow-motion reply confirms.
Detroit was completely robbed.
The ball was IN HIS HAND
When he turned over after falling down.
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
He maintained it all the way
He maintained possession standing up, then to the ground, then he dropped the ball to celebrate. It’s ridiculous. How much more of a catch did it have to be?
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.

by Scruffy Lefty on Sep 12, 2010 7:31 PM PDT up reply actions
No he didn't....
He was bracing himself with the ball. He still didn’t have control over his body. You guys are acting like he was sitting on his ass eating a hot dog while watching When Harry Met Sally and he sat the ball next to himself.
That is a complete mischaracterization of what happened.
Once he went down the ball was still clearly in his hand and he did not bobble it
He just let it go. Clear touchdown.

No it's not....
Just because he may have been intentionally been slamming the ball to the turf doesn’t make it any different than if he were diving to the ground and the ball came out when it hit the ground.
The officials aren’t there to interpret a player’s intent.

by Scruffy Lefty on Sep 12, 2010 7:56 PM PDT up reply actions
Still shots....
Don’t tell anything.
The rule about a ball hitting the ground in the process of a catch is clear.
CJ needed to not slam the ball down until it was clear that he had full control over himself. That’s the rule.
How much clearer could it be?
He turned over and still had the ball in his hand. Then he got up. Touchdown.
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.

4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
Yeah he did. It was a TD.
Everyone watching in real time knew it, except the ref who overturned the call. CJ was slamming the ball on the ground because he thought he was done with the play; that they’d won the game. Regardless, the rule that they cite needs to be changed ASAP because it goes against the very spirit of the game.
If it looks like a touchdown and feels like a touchdown, it is probably a fucking touchdown. Two feet down with possession. Hip down with possession. Done. Touchdown.
This happened last season to the Raiders. I could not give a damn about the Raiders, but I want to see good football; not bullshit arbitrary enforcement of bullshit, arbitrary rules. I just hope the same thing happens to Peyton or Brady so the NFL will look at it.

Thanks for coming in here and showing class, 49er fan
I feel that currently the niners have overall superior talent, held back by inferior/stubborn coaching, lack of discipline and poor QB play.
I thought the PI call on the Branch 3rd down play was a huge momentum swing and clearly a bad call against the 9rs. Branch held Clements from how I saw it.
However, I thought there were at least two neutral zone infractions that were called against the Hawks that I watched multiple times on my Tivo in slow motion on my hi-def TV that showed clear movement from both center and tackle prior to the the Hawks entering the neutral zone.
I realize the refs are human and have to do this in real time, but I feel mistakes were made on calls on both sides.
Anyone know if today's game will be shown again tonight/tomorrow on any channel

Good ol’ days.
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
Perhaps NFL front offices (including SEA) know something we don't know about market value
Novel concept. It is fun for us to preach about how much we know about market value for NFL players and blast our front office, but all of us are barely qualified to play fantasy football.
Huh?
He compared the 4th rounder he got for Wilson to a Randy Moss trade that happen 3 years ago when Moss basically said he wasn’t coming back.

He was just making excuses, and a lame one. Meh, talking to the media.
I don’t believe that was his real reason.

The Wilson one is the only one I really feel we undersold.
I didn’t really freak out about any of the others.

But are you qualified to play fantasy football?
We’re going to have to see some ID before we allow you criticize.
Not my point
I was not saying that an NFL GM must be right because he is an NFL GM. My point was that this site seems to have come to the conclusion that the Seahawks front office are idiots and have undersold on players, while the truth may be that guys like Tapp are really worth Clemons plus a fourth.
Guy was a Beast at PSU.
Search youtube for his run against Minnesota where he crushed a safety, ended his career, ran right through him on the sideline-hit helmet to helmet.
Pete tweeted this hit the other day
and then immediately apologized when he found out the fate of the other guy.

I think we were just gloating over their decision to cut him.

I saw that from the other side of the room...
Thought my television was fritzing. Or worse, my eyes.
Picked up your book on Friday.
Now, if I can just find time to read it with all this football going on.
Red Bryant: surprise us!
Good idea.
I haven’t gotten far with the title ‘Men With Balls’ on the throne.
Red Bryant: surprise us!
I like seeing Trent Williams' QB getting the crap kicked out of him...
though I want McNabb to succeed and WAS to win this game.
Red Bryant: surprise us!
Just to open up discussion
NFC North > NFC East for this season.
True or false?
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
I think the worst two teams in the NFC E beat the two worst teams in the NFC N
Red Bryant: surprise us!
East looks a little less top heavy.

Stafford may miss 6 weeks...poor Lions.
Shaun Hill is like Alex Smith only with an even weaker arm.
Red Bryant: surprise us!
Damn that really sucks.
Although it’s been waiting to happen with that stellar protection he gets.

NFL needs to turn injuries off until Tiburon patches them

I think that after the debacle that was Jones, we can finally accept that Shaun Alexander was pretty good.

Well I guess
Think if Chris Johnson or AP was our running back those years…Hell AP would have had 2500 yards running behind big Walt and Hutch
Does he know where he is???
Never lower your head.
I have no sympathy for players that lead with the head.
Your dumb enough to risk that injury then you deserve the consequences.
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
Cowboys bringing the suck today.
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
You know what would've been great?
Balmer getting a sack.
4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.
I played the cowgirls K over Mare in fantasy
Looks like that is going to cost me 10 points (8 for Mare) right now -2 for Buehler
Shit, although I really don't care how this ends.

Alex Barron just played his final game in the NFL.
I don’t know why they traded for him.

Hahahahaha!
Chris Collins: “I’m not sure Alex Barron is a member of this team by the time the plane lands.”
Yeah, that's what happens when you trade for Alex Barron.

We are Sad
We miss all the free 10 yard penalties….They got rid of Icognito also…He was worth 35 or more yards of penalties a game also
If the M's could have won, today would have been "The Best Day Ever!"
OOOOOH!!!!! That was NASTY!!!!!!!!
So was Barron just a terrible pick or what?
I remember him being a decent prospect coming into the drat.
Amazing stat
According to Costas
Over the last five years Alex Barron is the most penalized palyer in the NFL
We thought it was Incognito, followed by Barron!
At least against the SEAHAWKS! it was! Ha!

For the rams
It was addition by subtraction
Ha. Carroll just credited
the Seahawks off-season conditioning program for Hassselbeck’s 1 yard TD run.
Wha'? By 'conditioning' does he mean the stuff that follows 'shampooing'?
Cause that doesn’t make sense for Matt, either.
