Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Greg Johns reports Max Unger hurt his big toe in this week's game and is likely out next week, to keep our line's tradition of constant flux up and going.
Eric Williams reports Leroy Hill is cleared to play but won't start. No word on who we're cutting to make room on the roster.

I hear Unger can't stop holding his big toe.

4 years, 4 coaches, 7 league road wins, 0 playoff games, 1 GM. Fire Mo Johnston.

Wonder if it's too early for Stacy Andrews to be a better sub than Hamilton

slash Hamilton sub for Gibson moving over for Unger, whichever they might do. Andrews is a tackle but played guard for the Eagles. I dunno how good he is at anything other than he has size.

Not too worried

Unger is replaceable so far, our depth is fine… I like the idea of seeing what andrews can do… Its funny how vital your big toe is and you hardly even recognize it’s there usually

He could use it to ransom somebody.

Hell, I could get you a toe by 3 o’clock this afternoon. With nail polish.

You want a toe?

I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways, Dude.

Oh ya

Been there done that on the big toe deal.

No fun at all. More so than you realize if you aint been there.

That said, it aint going to kill us to have him get REALLY healthy anyways now is it?

by ChucklehutCynic on Sep 13, 2010 3:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Same here.

The only bones I’ve ever broken, both big toes (on separate occasions).

3 O'clock... its already 3:35 ..

Are you saying that you dont like Unger on our line? Without a big toe Im pretty sure he should just retire… although if the toe market is booming maybe thats a viable economic option for him… The Nail polish would actually ruin it for me, I am an all natural man..

So pretty much none of us want Hill over Hawthorne now?

Honestly, I think we should let Aaron Curry play LB

and blitz Hill on every play. Hill really terrorized opposing QBs his rookie year.

by Bildo on Sep 14, 2010 1:50 PM PDT up reply actions

Blitz 'em both.

I don’t think you want Curry in coverage.

by Lanky on Sep 14, 2010 1:55 PM PDT up reply actions

I want Hill over Hawthorne

Hawthorne is adequate.

Leroy has had off-field problems and a minor injury, which ought to be considered, but I see nothing that would absolutely preclude a return to top form. In short, he has a lot more upside potential.

If I were to enumerate the abstract, I’d say Hawthorne’s value at linebacker is 3-5 whatever units. Leroy’s value is 2-10 whatever units. Yes, he might play at a level beneath Hawthorne, but he can go places Hawthorne cannot.

Hill may lack in character, but people quickly forget what a force he can be

In his prime, he hit like a freaking truck, and was a huge key in run defense and blitzing, as well as being a bit more disciplined than Hawthorne. He may still have a bit more football in his tank if he can get his head right. I wouldn’t be surprised if he pulls a mini-BMFMW.

I can’t condone his off-field behavior by any means, but, on the other hand, it is a gridiron, not a church choir.

(our church choir team the Hawks fielded the past few years didn’t….do to well. Needed dirtbags!)
