After our first (failed) drive
The game didn’t really seem close. Our loose coverage let them pass all day on us.
Also, the Bronco’s O-line looked great considering they were talked about as a real banged up group/line.
Next week we get the Chargers ya? If Orton can have a field day on us, I’m sure Rivers will toy around with us as well.
Bummer Sunday.
I wonder if every drop in win probability could be tied to
Seattle’s 3-3-Nickle formation. Yuck. When we did rush, we rushed from outside, running past the play. When we rushed inside, our corners played off.
Not a fan of the 3rd down package. Not sure why we force a 3-3-5 when we don’t have the players.
Venting. Thanks for patience.
It is what it is...
Also, that first Bronco's score...
3-man D-line on like the 2 or 3 yard line? Who wouldn’t run/audible into a run?!
I was a fan of Pete having the boys go for it on 4th, wasn’t really into the long pass into the endzone part of it though, that had me scratching my head.
I noticed the 3 man line at the goal line as well
I think the only people not stunned by it were our defensive coaches.
It is what it is...
After San Diego (1 - 2), schedule opens up. Okung gets healthy...
…the Okie state boy would have changed every faux pa today, right? Ugh. Did freakin’ Hill get injured today, too? Good grief.
Why count that as a loss already?
Seriously, the fucking Chiefs beat them. I’m not saying the Chiefs are better, but for fuck’s sake it’s a home game and anything can happen.

Yeah, I'm not too pessimistic about a San Diego
team that hasn’t looked impressive at all this season. People talk about what a pile of shit the NFC West is. The AFC West has the Raiders, Chiefs, Broncos and Chargers. Despite the convincing win they put on us today, the Broncos never really looked that great. They strike me as a team that will ultimately struggle to win on the road.
plus its September
so you know the Chargers are gunning for a loss anyway, why break tradition for them?

Yeah, we still are pretty tough to beat at home.
And SD is not the best team around. The only game I have down as a loss is @NO but things change, you never know.

Yeah but Rivers should be able to target Jennings all day
I just don’t see the secondary holding up against Rivers very well. Sure the crowd noise will help the D Line get pressure, but Rivers>Orton. He still threw for 298 yards in a very loud, rainy and windy Arrowhead.
The infamous 4th and 2 play
Pete Carroll said last night that the first read was a shorter pass for the first down, but that it was covered up by the Denver D. Hass was left with no option but to pass to Branch with the long ball.
- I have a philosophical issue when you’re looking for a statement play, need 2 yards on 4th and you choose a play with one read and then a go for it all. I think that was a bonehead, yet crucial play call. But I’ll forgive this one.
I won't. That was awful.
Almost as bad as a three-down-lineman front against a jumbo package on 3rd and goal on the 1. Almost. That’s the kind of stupid shit I expect Madden’s AI to do, not a professional football team.
They showed a clip of Bradley talking to the D after that play in a huddle on the sideline.
He took responsibility to the players and said that was his fault to put the wrong personnel out there. He said something about expecting a different formation from DEN in this situation. Still, the Seahawk personnel grouping was stupid.
The chart really confirms your suspicions...
We threw the game away with first half turnovers. I am glad to see us lose the game on a few costly mistakes rather than lose by looking clearly less talented…. and even, dare I say, winning against a DEN team that didn’t look good. Given that we are a QB and pass-rusher away from legit deep playoff run aspirations, I would much rather be good than lucky.
All that said, there was definitely some good to go with the bad in this one. You can add up what the turnovers cost us. The last turnover was garbage time so we ignore that. The two interceptions thrown both came from within field goal range so you have to assume those drivers net 0-7 points a piece, lets say 4. The Thurmond fumble was a disaster because it cost us an opportunity to score, put DEN in fieldgoal range from the get-go, and wore out our D. Let’s say this is about a 4 point swing too (being conservative). Give the Hawks 12 points and this game is completely different. We are in pace with Denver in the second half and able to use our run game, which had been effective.
Clear bright sports included Tate, Thomas, our Run D, our running game, Butler, and overall O-line play given the circumstances.
Hasselbeck killed us in this game, but I am not ready to bench him. If ARI or SF get right we are going to have a lot of meaningless games come the end of the season, plenty of time to use snaps to evaluate guys.
At some point
your defense has to make a stop on third down. It wouldn’t have hurt at all to have Pistol in there yesterday.
You don't want to see your offensive linemen taking points off the board...
yet that’s exactly what happened at the end of the first drive that ended with Hass’s pick.
Ball to two yard line, 1st and goal, Andrews false start, back to seven. Forsett scores, Locklear flagged for holding, six off the board, first and goal at the 17. Hass throws the pick, no points, Broncos with the ball heading the other direction.
Next move: Andrews to right tackle, Wrotto to right guard (where he was our starter last season and did a good job), Locklear to Mickey D’s, and before we get Okung back so we’re stable and ready to roll when it happens.
You can’t go into Denver, Mile High, 100 degrees, puke the ball up four times and expect to come out with a W. I saw some stuff I liked, a bunch of stuff I didn’t like, and yet another round of evidence that we’re never going to have an OL worth a shit as long as Locklear’s playing OT, despite his flashes of brilliance in the past.
On D, we need to either find someone who can consistently get in the QB’s face or we need to come up with a blitz package that does the same thing. Otherwise these second-tier QB’s are going to look like Johnny U and the top-tier guys are going to kill us every time.
Run D is looking solid and I love 1,000 Pounds of Fury as much as ever.

I think with how the Seahawks run game was working yesterday
That if Lock didn’t hold and they went up 7-0, they could continue to establish the run. Once they got down 14-0 they had to go to passing, and Denver’s passing D is much better than than their running D.
Not that it matters though but that game was a win-able.
