Seahawks at Raiders Game Thread

Seattle Seahawks at Oakland Raiders, Sep 2, 2010 7:00 PM PDT

I thought it over and decided I'd rather spend this afternoon with my wife.

See you around 7.

This is an open thread for about anything Seahawks related.

You read my mind. Totally.

I want to get a green Carlson and retire my autographed blue Carlson.

I hope so!

My dad gave me a #12 green jersey with my name on the back for Christmas. I was so jazzed about it that when the kids were all playing charades later, “Uncle Marty opening his jersey!” was the best round of the night :)

This summer, our house burned down, and freakishly, the only clothes I was able to save were ALL my jerseys and Seahawks tee shirts! I love my green jersey, and saving it saved my summer!

I’d love to see them back on the field! (for a game or two only though)

Puke green clown suits suck!

Dress like a loser, play like a loser.

We do one Hawks game a year, and last year was the Bears game. And what do I get? The green clown suits! Please, please, for the love of all that is holy! Never, ever, again!

Trade Scenario?

Let me know your thoughts: Housh for Haynesworth.

Two huge guaranteed salaries to swallow; solid veteran for McNabb to throw at and disgruntled/reclamation project/bad fit # 2,364 for Pete Carroll; Hawks increase their pass-rush and overall defensive line (not to mention Haynesworth gets to go back to a 4-3…sort of)

by dshinstrom on Sep 2, 2010 4:37 PM PDT reply actions

I'd do that in a heartbeat.

But Haynesworth is young and Housh isn’t.

That and it’d kill their defensive line.

by Nick Andron on Sep 2, 2010 4:48 PM PDT up reply actions

Hmmm ....

… according to the link, we could release him. Would we really do that? Further, would releasing Housh really give us a better chance to win? Consider me skeptical of that last statement.

by nut_house on Sep 2, 2010 5:25 PM PDT up reply actions

I think we would have to eat part of 7 mill even with a trade.

Wouldnt we prbly have to give compensation to pull a trade anyway but you have to believe Housh has trade Value he is pretty good just hindering possible developement of the youth movement.

The idea of Haynesworth's talent

On our line is drool worthy, but the guy is a douche. Doesn’t exactly fit the mold of “always compete” does he? Besides, Housh is a quality go to reciever and I think it would be stupid to give that up right now..

by CurryInAHurry59 on Sep 2, 2010 4:54 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

Imagine Mebane and Haynesworth lining up together?

I’d give up Housh in a HEARTBEAT.

Honestly, I like what I've seen out of Vickerson so far.

I think he is quite likely to take over for Cole by the end of the season.

by djafrot on Sep 2, 2010 5:27 PM PDT up reply actions

Me too, Vick has something to prove

Fat Albert is a headache and Vick has more of a chip on his shoulder, he wants to be where Albert has already been, but Albert has no motivation.

Big Vick could be the monster we have been looking for.

Clemons, Haynesworth, Mebane, Bryant.

by PoolNinja on Sep 2, 2010 6:03 PM PDT up reply actions

The Housh-shopping speculation...

…by the Jason La Confornacation twitters.

What does ‘trying to move’ him mean in reality? Just phone calls?

I can’t see anyone biting with his guarantee, and what would it gain?
The track record would indicate a horrible return on a trade.
And then disgruntle Housh if he ends up right where he is.

Ugh.

by roddychops on Sep 2, 2010 4:41 PM PDT reply actions

Guarantee... shrug..

Logically compensation would be apart of the deal we can swallow a part of his contract this year to move him. If we gave him up for a 6th that would be a gut punch.

Fly Leon! Fly!

Chargers want something in return

.. like a 2nd at minimum. Why can’t we trade them Housh, Leroy, & 2nd Rd for VJack and Merriman????

I might be dreaming…

by PoolNinja on Sep 2, 2010 6:07 PM PDT reply actions

If we give up anything more then a 4th rounder for VJack.

I will punch Schneider in his sack. He said himself Randy Moss was only worth a 4th.

by Scruffy Lefty on Sep 2, 2010 6:12 PM PDT up reply actions

True

if it were straight up for just VJack, I would agree. But throw in Merriman, at 3.3mil/one year tender and we give up Housh, Leroy (close to a wash on contracts) upgrade to a 2nd rounder. I would be hesisitant to punch him in the sack, more of a flick…

by PoolNinja on Sep 2, 2010 6:19 PM PDT up reply actions

If we only got a 5th rounder for Wilson.....

I would be LIVID if we turn around and gave up a 2nd rounder to get a guy who is (a.) asking for a buttload of cash, (b.) will be suspended for the 1st 3 games, and (c.) might be a total asshole.

Looking for a silver lining in the Wilson trade? If the rumors are true that Housh will be traded for a draft pick, it’s possible we package that pick and the 5th rounder to get VJax, rather than giving up a 2nd rounder. I hated the Wilson trade, but I’d have less of a problem with trades that essentially equated to Wilson + Housh for Vincent Jackson. I could live with that scenario.

by J.L. White on Sep 2, 2010 6:21 PM PDT up reply actions

VJack has way more upside

even if he is an asshole. Didn’t a certain “someone who shall remain nameless” say we need more dirtbags? Plus that Moss trade happened like 3 or 4 years ago and he had “down” years when he was traded. Pats benefited from a shitty situation in Oakland regarding Moss. Really Livid? With VJack on board, we just created more problems for defenses. Who the fuck want’s to cover VJack, Branch, Williams, Tate, Branch on a five receiver set?

by PoolNinja on Sep 2, 2010 6:27 PM PDT up reply actions

What do you base (c) on?

Is there evidence that suggests he’s not a total asshole?

by Jason_D on Sep 3, 2010 11:37 AM PDT up reply actions

Does anyone think the Raiders would want Housh?

They probably have the worst WR starters in the NFL, and Al Davis isn’t afraid to take on large contracts.

And our O has not run a successful screen yet, though has tried multiple times.

Both of these need fixing.
