Seahawks at Raiders Game Thread
Seattle Seahawks at Oakland Raiders, Sep 2, 2010 7:00 PM PDT
I thought it over and decided I'd rather spend this afternoon with my wife.
See you around 7.
This is an open thread for about anything Seahawks related.

I want to get a green Carlson and retire my autographed blue Carlson.

I hope so!
My dad gave me a #12 green jersey with my name on the back for Christmas. I was so jazzed about it that when the kids were all playing charades later, “Uncle Marty opening his jersey!” was the best round of the night :)
This summer, our house burned down, and freakishly, the only clothes I was able to save were ALL my jerseys and Seahawks tee shirts! I love my green jersey, and saving it saved my summer!
I’d love to see them back on the field! (for a game or two only though)
Puke green clown suits suck!
Dress like a loser, play like a loser.
We do one Hawks game a year, and last year was the Bears game. And what do I get? The green clown suits! Please, please, for the love of all that is holy! Never, ever, again!
Trade Scenario?
Let me know your thoughts: Housh for Haynesworth.
Two huge guaranteed salaries to swallow; solid veteran for McNabb to throw at and disgruntled/reclamation project/bad fit # 2,364 for Pete Carroll; Hawks increase their pass-rush and overall defensive line (not to mention Haynesworth gets to go back to a 4-3…sort of)
I'd do that in a heartbeat.
But Haynesworth is young and Housh isn’t.
That and it’d kill their defensive line.
"Pass rushers enter the world of Okung but never leave." - JM
Well, Fat Albert is 29 so he's not that young.
Besides, if rumors count for anything, Seattle still likes V Jackson.
I'm gonna go calm submissive on your ass.
Hmmm ....
… according to the link, we could release him. Would we really do that? Further, would releasing Housh really give us a better chance to win? Consider me skeptical of that last statement.
I think we would have to eat part of 7 mill even with a trade.
Wouldnt we prbly have to give compensation to pull a trade anyway but you have to believe Housh has trade Value he is pretty good just hindering possible developement of the youth movement.

The idea of Haynesworth's talent
On our line is drool worthy, but the guy is a douche. Doesn’t exactly fit the mold of “always compete” does he? Besides, Housh is a quality go to reciever and I think it would be stupid to give that up right now..

Imagine Mebane and Haynesworth lining up together?
I’d give up Housh in a HEARTBEAT.

Honestly, I like what I've seen out of Vickerson so far.
I think he is quite likely to take over for Cole by the end of the season.
Me too, Vick has something to prove
Fat Albert is a headache and Vick has more of a chip on his shoulder, he wants to be where Albert has already been, but Albert has no motivation.
Big Vick could be the monster we have been looking for.

The Housh-shopping speculation...
…by the Jason La Confornacation twitters.
What does ‘trying to move’ him mean in reality? Just phone calls?
I can’t see anyone biting with his guarantee, and what would it gain?
The track record would indicate a horrible return on a trade.
And then disgruntle Housh if he ends up right where he is.
Ugh.
Or maybe a 6th and an overpaid player
So basically a salary cap move and a late draft pick.
Guarantee... shrug..
Logically compensation would be apart of the deal we can swallow a part of his contract this year to move him. If we gave him up for a 6th that would be a gut punch.

Chargers want something in return
.. like a 2nd at minimum. Why can’t we trade them Housh, Leroy, & 2nd Rd for VJack and Merriman????
I might be dreaming…
If we give up anything more then a 4th rounder for VJack.
I will punch Schneider in his sack. He said himself Randy Moss was only worth a 4th.
by Scruffy Lefty on Sep 2, 2010 6:12 PM PDT up reply actions
True
if it were straight up for just VJack, I would agree. But throw in Merriman, at 3.3mil/one year tender and we give up Housh, Leroy (close to a wash on contracts) upgrade to a 2nd rounder. I would be hesisitant to punch him in the sack, more of a flick…
If we only got a 5th rounder for Wilson.....
I would be LIVID if we turn around and gave up a 2nd rounder to get a guy who is (a.) asking for a buttload of cash, (b.) will be suspended for the 1st 3 games, and (c.) might be a total asshole.
Looking for a silver lining in the Wilson trade? If the rumors are true that Housh will be traded for a draft pick, it’s possible we package that pick and the 5th rounder to get VJax, rather than giving up a 2nd rounder. I hated the Wilson trade, but I’d have less of a problem with trades that essentially equated to Wilson + Housh for Vincent Jackson. I could live with that scenario.
VJack has way more upside
even if he is an asshole. Didn’t a certain “someone who shall remain nameless” say we need more dirtbags? Plus that Moss trade happened like 3 or 4 years ago and he had “down” years when he was traded. Pats benefited from a shitty situation in Oakland regarding Moss. Really Livid? With VJack on board, we just created more problems for defenses. Who the fuck want’s to cover VJack, Branch, Williams, Tate, Branch on a five receiver set?
You going to draft Mike Williams in the 1st round?
by Scruffy Lefty on Sep 2, 2010 6:44 PM PDT up reply actions
Does anyone think the Raiders would want Housh?

The Screen Game
As I recall, our D has sniffed out 1 screen this preseason (good job Will Herring!), and the rest have all worked.
And our O has not run a successful screen yet, though has tried multiple times.
Both of these need fixing.
Screens are a good way to beat Pete Carroll
If the Seahawks play anything like his USC defenses theyll over pursue and be susceptible to screens.

Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
That was like the draw play Holmgren ran in the Browns game
Only Wannstedt had a timeout.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
What, wait? Is this amazing or not?
I hate Wannstedt, I hope he gets fucked by whatever happened here.
And he barely makes it the 3rd time.
This is surreal, but from the 12 yard line with 30+ ticks left you gotta go for the win.
I hope Utah wins.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
Wow
Utah called timeout again. Kick doesn’t count. This is insane.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
Yes.
My all-time favorite Mack play is his run in the Redskins playoff game.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
the draw play on 3rd and forever...
yes that was sweet
DD with the extreme pressure!
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
Yes and no.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
he was back there with Thomas
Jennings was in too… I wanted to cry
Losman is in
Looks like I’m switching to the PItt game.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
You don't want to see the hope of our franchise?

Meaning Wrotto.
Momentum is everything in football.

Oh I know
I was referencing the graph Curt was talking about with players not playing tonight.

Pitt chokes
Picked off on 1st pass play in OT. Utah ready to kick a gimme FG.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
Hurray!
I’d like to have that roster spot
by Thomas Beekers on Sep 2, 2010 8:55 PM PDT up reply actions
That's good.
Because that was a lousy audition.
Kind of a flyer
Jones had some potential but never got past his injuries. He’s nothing but a camp body, nope, but typical PC-type flyer

Cmon Kam make that tackle!
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
Curt calls Boller "Gradkowski"
Oh and later, Kam.
Mo Johnston is what John Schneider could be in 4 years.
I think with time to sit and learn
Boller would of been ok.

I just like big arms.
Hence my love for Whitehurst.

All white receivers look alike.
Thurmond got burned by Kole Heckendorf there.

Yes
I’m confused, but that might be because I’m watching the Raiders broadcast
by Thomas Beekers on Sep 2, 2010 9:05 PM PDT up reply actions
So... Thurmond blows it twice.
(I think).
It’s good that we still have, uh… Lewis?
I was pretty baffled by the high Thurmond praise from Schneider during the JW aftermath.
Seemed way premature. I hadn’t really noticed him much yet. Doesn’t seem ready for much playing time yet.
Or, to put it another way...
… he’s already performing at a Kelly Jennings level!
I think thrumond did the right thing covering the underneath TE
Kam never got back far enough.
by Scruffy Lefty on Sep 2, 2010 9:05 PM PDT up reply actions
at least Thurmond is 5'11"
everything else is of lesser consideration fellas
So did I catch it right from the commentators?
They pegged Leon Washington the starting KR and Justin Forsett the starting PR.
That seems an odd combination.
by Thomas Beekers on Sep 2, 2010 9:07 PM PDT up reply actions
I don't think he is tho
So far it looks like starting RB is just a nominal job anyway. But the Leon Washington returning thing comes from PC
Carroll said Leon Washington will be the kickoff return man now with Wilson gone.
It seems to have both our worthwhile RBs returning tho
by Thomas Beekers on Sep 2, 2010 9:10 PM PDT up reply actions
Is it a good idea to wear our our running backs and expose them to injury risk?
I’m not a big fan of a few decisions this team as made recently.
I appreciate his coverage skills, and that's like 2/3rds of a corner's job
But he ABSOLUTELY SUCKS at the other 1/3rd.
It would be great for someone to toss Kelly a ball at the end of an interview.
Just to see his confusion.
Red Bryant: surprise us!
Deon Butler may be "short"
but he’s not THAT short!
In his defense, Butler fell hardcore.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
No, that's Tampa.
It's Great to be a Florida Gator!
Here's hoping this is the offseason that Craig Terrill is finally released.

Lane Kiffin has gone for 2 on all of USC's touchdowns.

Team needs the practice
Cant tackle in practice, need more reps against actual contact.
[DELETED ZOMG NO POLITICS]
Ricky Foley with the tackle!
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
Yet he still continues to make plays for us!
That’s the Canadian spirit!

Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
My wife recognized E Thomas on screen.
From seeing him at her store. He came in with Babs, to order shoes. Apparently, LVMH is the shit. Jealous, I am.

Thank god, only one more quarter.
Then it’s regular season time!
So, what's the deal with Obomanu?
Has he caught anything? He’s been invisible, or I’m not paying attention.
Red Bryant: surprise us!
He had a nice 37-yard reception.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
USC 20 Hawaii 13 late in the 2nd

thats encouraging. hopefully a sign of things to come
He's looked good in general hasn't he?
Or am I reaching.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
My dad just said Whitehurst looks like Ken Stabler.

Dexter Davis locked down his spot
Whitehurst looked decent, and Roy Lewis may have left an opening for Cord Parks.
