Russell Okung, Chester Pitts ready to play
"Russell has only had five days of practice, so he's a long way from being in the groove," Carroll said. "We're going to just have to bring him along and see what the information tells us this week and where we go.
"Just because he's healthy doesn't mean he's starting. That's for anybody, we'll wait and see how they fit in and look as they come back. But it's still a boost for us. We've been waiting for the big fella to get back in there."
None of the injured defensive starters (Trufant, Mebane, Curry) have been ruled out, but the article offers no other details.

Looking forward to seeing the revamped line after the bye.
I hope this will do something for our run game.
The first three teams we've played have been 3-4
I wonder how this line will respond to bigger 4-3 ends (and if Matt will feel more comfortable in the pocket with a more predictable pass rush).

A serious question
Are 4-3 ends bigger than 3-4 ends? I had thought it was the opposite but to tell you the truth I am just learning this stuff as I go.
/trying to ask question w/o starting flame war.
I think he meant
4-3 ends are bigger than the edge rushers in a 3-4: the LBs.
Though they sink through the Sea, they shall rise again...Death shall have no dominion...
This
In the 4-3, the rush tends to come from a pair of 270lb DEs. In the 3-4, the primary rush comes from smaller OLBs but also provides enough flexibility to allow for more exotic blitz schemes.

No.
Although these sort of statements tend to oversimplify. Red Bryant is (sort of) a 4-3 end and is bigger than most 3-4 ends.
We have gone up against some OK defensive lines so far. We are yet to face any really prolific edge rushers. That’ll change against the Bears. Hopefully the new additions hold up.

Pitts and Okung
We will have decent run blocking again on the Left, hopefully open up the offense some more.
I support us using L. WASH in the Wild Hawk with Forsett and a little Tate.

In related news, the Bad Bones moniker will have to
And it sucks

Just because of this.
I will start calling ET “Bad Bones.” I didn’t do it before, but someone must stand up for his rights. I wouldn’t name my dog Deuce.
Earl can do so much beter than "Deuce"
I like E.T. personally…You know, because his skills are out of this world. Zing!
Ka-Kaaa!
I propose " The Predator"
Simply based on his looks with his dreds and his face structure but also on his actions. Dude just preyed on rivers twice. My girlfriend concurs and is already using it
I swear, everytime there's a player in the league with dreads
Someone says “HOLY COW LET’S CALL HIM THE PREDATOR!”
It’s so overused and completely unoriginal.
Has actually looked at his face though...
He looks IDENTICAL. And just because someone else has the nickname does not dismiss the fact that this particular nickname isnt the right one for Earl Thomas. We must not forget that we were not the first ones known as “the 12th man”…
