Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Open College Football Thread

Since I'm not a beat reporter and thus not actually reporting news today, I will sit in pajamas while the drama of the final 53 man roster plays out. Craig and Vasilli are both on top of links around here. Ben Golliver does an excellent job of compiling news at SB Nation Seattle. Check that stuff out.

I get UCLA at Kansas State, bleh, and Purdue at Notre Dame (Mayock), but use this thread for whatever you want.

As a USC fan

If I was going to take one to play immediately on an NFL team tomorrow it would be Luck. But longer term I still like Barkley.

I gotta feeling about this one

I’ll be happy to stay within a touchdown though.

by ColumbiaRob on Sep 4, 2010 12:49 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah

I’m hoping the Rodgers’ homecoming will entail big games from both.

by ColumbiaRob on Sep 4, 2010 12:51 PM PDT up reply actions

I'm scared of this game.

With all our losses, and our suddenly weak LB corp, it’ll be a tough one.

by DJ C-Raig on Sep 4, 2010 12:52 PM PDT up reply actions

For sure

I still remember when we almost beat LSU the first game. It’s in Cowboys stadium, which will probably be half empty. Just have a feeling, maybe it’s all those hotwings I ate last night though.

by ColumbiaRob on Sep 4, 2010 12:54 PM PDT up reply actions

Oregon State against a ranked opponent in the first week of the season

is about as sure a loss as you are going to find in college football.

As Golden says

“wow this may be one of the saddest things! its hard to watch this game!”

The Florida offense looked terrible today.

I’m guessing they’re just a bit out of sync without Tebow.

who’s going to run the ball down there?

The 14th pick for Gradkowski.

That’s seriously what the trade turned into.

by MFAN on Sep 4, 2010 1:03 PM PDT up reply actions

I still can't fathom how they thought that was a good deal

With how valuable picks are……It hurts my brain trying to figure it out

by Big E-Z on Sep 4, 2010 1:03 PM PDT up reply actions

A second in 2009 is worth a first in 2010

So says the brilliant business minds of the NFL.

by John Morgan on Sep 4, 2010 1:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Right

But didn’t they just move up in the draft? Didn’t most “experts” believe he would still be available when they picked next?

by Big E-Z on Sep 4, 2010 1:06 PM PDT up reply actions

I just hope Seattle keeps getting awesome opportunities

Between Ruskell trading a second for a first, Okung, Thomas, Tate and Thurmond falling, Seattle has had an excellent run of luck, and I am starting to think it’s better to be lucky than good in the business of the NFL.

by John Morgan on Sep 4, 2010 1:19 PM PDT up reply actions

At least Schneider knows how to let the picks fall

Ruskell had such a narrow definition for a successful draft that he couldn’t just stay patient and see who was available.

by Hawkhammer19 on Sep 4, 2010 1:26 PM PDT up reply actions

It's surprisingly calm.

That said, they all appear to been hating this trade for a long time. They’re resigned to it.

I think that game is gonna be ugly

I hate LSU with a passion and they were terrible on offense last year, probably the most over rated team in the country, but UNC is depleted.

I went to a Giants game

Dad’s friend gave him tickets for his b’day even though neither he nor I (or anyone else in my family) likes baseball. Really liked Pac Bell Park a lot. John Rocker was pitching that day so I got to hear a ton of booing.

I’ve always considered downtown Oakland better than downtown San Fran.

Oakland has a bad rap, but places like Jack London square are really really nice.

I like parts of downtown San Fran too, but man there are some streets you don’t wanna walk down at night. The baseball park is really nice, I never liked Candle stick, that place would get sooo cold at night.

by MFAN on Sep 4, 2010 1:47 PM PDT up reply actions

Jack London Square is awesome.

There was a nice bakery in Chinatown as well. Honestly I really am not a fan of Seattle’s “international district” bar Jade Garden Dim Sum.

It was the Oakland Chinatown where I began my hot sauce addiction.

Some consolation for the Wilson trade

is Schneider and Carroll seem to know how to make the most of fourth and fifth rounders (if the 2010 draft is any indication).

College football format pisses me off

I’m sick and tired of big name schools taking cupcakes in the beginning of the season to pad their records. Sucks for season ticket holders and fans in general. SEC schools are notorious for this.

With Ticket Prices

I had Penn State vs Youngstwon State tickets….wow what a crapper.

Pen States True freshmen QB looked pretty good against a team that was 5-6 last year in 1-AA. That means crap next week when they play at Alabama.

$60 to see Y-town state…that is crap. Schedule at worst a MAC or Mountain West or Conference USA team . At least someone in 1-A.

I told myself I’d be happy if the Beavs kept it close, but of course I’m not. Combined with Gibbs, Wilson, seemingly every one of our roster cuts, and the Andrews trade I’m just pissed at football today. And now I have to work in 15 minutes. You’re killin’ me Smalls.
