Mebane Event - Lets organize!!!
The season is almost here, but our very own John Morgan posted awhile ago that he'd been approached by someone in Brandon Mebane's camp about putting together some type of fan event with us Field Gulls. You can view the discussion here. There were a whole bunch of realistic and unrealistic ideas posted in the comments, but John has since mentioned that he would be willing to work as a middleman if someone else can help organize the event.
Obviously being mid-season there is not guarantee that we'll get something put together, but I was thinking the bye week might not be a bad time to try something. I'd be willing to work with someone to help make this happen. As a start I thought I'd consolidate some of the more realistic ideas so we can try for something tangible. Here are the top entries I gathered from the comments. Add your own serious ideas in the comments and vote "other" if you've got a better idea. Hopefully we can narrow things down to something people would be interested in and include any good ideas from the comments.
I ignored any activity that might seem like it could cause an injury. I think we can all agree such things would be a horrible idea in reality. I would love a Bane Tank, but maybe we should save that for the off season.
- Photo session/family photos with ME! BANE! - some potentially hilarious possibilities here if we can find a good photog for a good price.
- D-Line minicamp/fan tutorial - Personal favorite. I'd love to better understand the nitty-gritty
- Bowing/gameworks/etc. event with Bane and Friends (for charity?)
- Softball game - limited numbers, but there's still potential. Could we get a Mariner involved? Seahawks vs. Mariners?
- Mebane coached flag football - Could we get a teammate to coach the other team? No injury risk, but fan involvement
I hope we can make something happen. Leave your thoughts below. Who's in?

Mebane Verses
Have a bunch of mini games and challenge Mebane, along the lines of Minute to Win it type stuff. The contests could be as simple as the fastest to peel and apple with a spoon, stack cups, unlace/relace shoes, or balance coin on edge. Simple mundane type games which everyone can perform and have fun. This would allow for unlimited amount of contestants and give the opportunity for prizes or just glory in beating Mebane.
The 12th Man must also compete and win forever!
Flag football would be a non-starter.
After Steve Smith (Car) broke his arm last year I can’t see Me! Bane! putting his body at risk.
Thank you, Walter Jones.
Thank you, Ken Griffey Jr.
So I was emailed again
We decided Monday, 9/20 at 5pm for bowling. He said Brandon would bring some teammates.
If that’s good for everyone, we just need to decide where, specifically looking for somewhere that can throw some proceeds towards charity.
That's an awfully quick timeline
We need to get a professional event planner.

Oh how I wish you would.
I know I’m a single, random poster, and it really just comes down to whatever works for Mebane, but damn. I’ll be in Denver from the 18-24. I’d be so pissed to miss this.
How very awesome that he would be willing to do this for the FieldGulls community and Hawks fans in general though.
Thanks John, thanks Brandon.

I'll be sad to miss out, but my work schedule won't allow me to attend either during the week
There’s ACME bowling in Tukwila right near Southcenter mall (SW of Renton). Friend of mine held a fundraiser there and they shared the proceeds somehow.
That's my birthday!!
:D :D :D

I simply can’t resist a pun. Is there a name for this disease?
