Gus Bradley has been the defensive coordinator for two years. In both years the defense started the season emphatically by holding their opposition to no touchdowns en route to blowout victories. His defense completely collapsed in the 2nd half of both seasons culminating in embarrassing losses to the Texans, Packers, and Buccaneers in 2009 and the Raiders, 49ers, and Bucs in 2010. Alex Smith had a career best in a 40-21 whitewash. Josh Freeman had 5 incomplete passes to 5 touchdowns in a 38-15 bloodbath. The defense conceded 30 points in all but one loss and they've conceded that total in 15 of 32 games in Bradley's tenure. Bradley's defense allowed (playoffs included) 6 opening drive touchdowns, which is worst in the NFL.
Is he another Nick Holt? Is he just making the best of a defense nearly devoid of talent? I wanted to believe that until today. I don't hate the three man rush, but I have seen the secondary of Seattle. This cannot possibly work unless Clemons and Brock are insanely quick off the snap or the secondary has tight coverage. Bradley's playcalling aggravates me more than anything and today was his worst called game as defensive coordinator.
But I'm just one guy. The poll is there for a reason.
I'm not interested in seeing more of Bradley but maybe others are.
