Really though, what are we gonna do about our pass defense?

To start off I would like to mention this post has no intention of bashing the players in our secondary for I believe we are talented at most positions. This is more about opening a discussion on how we can improve in that area of our defense and my interest in my fellow Hawks fans opinions on the topic. When we made our Superbowl run we were menacing in the secondary and it seemed like other squads were fearful of throwing on us as much. When Greg Olsen is mashing you up for over 130 yards its evident there are issues up front and down the field and changes are inevitable in 2011 but what will they be exactly?

Earl Thomas will become a star when he turns that switch on and adapts to reading plays better at the NFL level a bit better so his position is secure for years to come. With that being said we are o.k. at that safety spot. Milloy was one of the best at his position for years but his time has come to pack it in. I'm a big Milloy fan so it hurts me to say this but we need new blood at his position next year. Who fills that slot? Chancellor? I think we need someone explosive like Earl that can come up and stop the run as well as Milloy has that also has the legs to assist Trufant on the deep ball as a threat to pick off a pass. Trufant is my favorite player and I feel has a couple if not a few good years in him. He is a true leader and no matter how rough the numbers have been that last couple years he intimidates wideouts and QB's are weary of how much they throw to his side. Kelly Jennings is a good character guy and always works hard but too undersized to be a shutdown corner. If we don't draft or sign a corner this year I believe Thurmond the III can become an elite corner, matter of fact I hope we stick with Thurmond because there is just something about that guy that makes me believe he can be special.

So we need a strong safety, we need to figure out who plays across Trufant, we also need to invest heavily in D-Line players that can make it possible for our ball hawkers to get picks in the first place, all of the above are given, what happened to the 60yard pick sixes and the batting down of passes from elite QB's we all love as Seahawks fans? To put it simply, Offensive coordinators are not scared of us at all and lick their chops when reviewing there deep threat playbooks in the weeks they play Seattle. I can't wait till this is over and we return to the top of the leagues secondaries. I believe Seattle needs to focus on this just as much as the QB controversy and the Defensive line void for a couple reasons. Bradford isn't gonna get any worse at hitting Amendola and Demario Alexander, Vernon Davis, Crabtree, and Morgan can catch balls no matter who throws it to them. Larry Fitzgerald is always gonna be Larry Fitzgerald and co. are not always gonna have Anderson and Skelton throwing to them. There are talented receivers and tightends all over our division and all over the league, If we want to be dominant and get those couple extra wins that have us out in front of the NFC West all year we can't give up as much down the field. This all is relevant of course if we have football to watch next year in the first place.

Long story short I love watching a strong and big play making secondary so Seattle Seahawks fans what are we gonna do in 2011/2012 to get us there? Go after Ndami? He's going to the Cowboys isn't he? Anyhow holler at me fellow 12th man lets get back to the Superbowl and make sure we at least pay off one ref this time, oh yeah, the only time I want to hear about any Yellow and Black is when I got a Wiz Khalifa song on, oh yeah and 20 bucks says the Steelers pay off refs again and beat Rogers and the Packers for the ring eventho Rogers throws for 500 yards, Sorry ya'll still bitter about the game, ya'll know what i'm talking about lol.
