The Shutdown Corner Week 10 Preview Podcast with Greg Cosell - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports
We're back with another weekly podcast featuring our favorite X's-and-O's analyst — Greg Cosell, the longtime NFL Films maven, who's also the executive producer of ESPN's "NFL Matchup." As always, we go through this week's upcoming games with a scout's eye and Greg in control of the All-22 tape.

Nobody wants to play for Tom Coughlin - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports
Not surprisingly, the most popular answers were the mean guys. Here are your top-three vote-getters: Tom Coughlin, New York Giants - 22 Tony Sparano, Miami Dolphins - 21 Bill Belichick, New England Patriots - 15 Pete Carroll, Todd Haley, Jim Harbaugh, Rex Ryan and Jim Schwartz were next on the list, but none of them had more than six votes. Coughlin, Sparano and Belichick are clearly the meanest teachers in the school.

4.  Alan Branch, DT, Seattle Seahawks Contract: Two-year, $8m Impact: Probably the most surprising name on this given how under the radar his performances have been.  Branch hasn’t produced big numbers, with just one sack and 10 total pressures on the year, but he’s currently our top ranked defensive tackle in run defense. Honestly, I did not see this coming given his performances in Arizona, but Seattle have done it again (after Raheem Brock last season) by turning one teams trash into their very own piece of treasure.

Seattle Seahawks Blog - Hawk Blogger: Pete Carroll Is Not Getting A Fair Shake
Losing sucks. Seahawks fans know that from experience. Winning is pretty darn fantastic. Seahawks fans a little about that as well. The strong aversion to losing, and constant yearning for victory can leave a fan feeling anything but objective when faced with painful loss after painful loss. There is something more than frustration, though, that is driving criticism of Pete Carroll. Many local media members and a sizable share of fans appear to have made up their minds about Carroll before his tenure in Seattle really began.

17 Power, A Seattle Seahawks Blog: Props from Football Outsiders on Seahawks O-line
The insightful Ben Muth of Football Outsiders has some praise for the Seahawks offensive line. At least, I think it's praise for the Seahawks O-line. I can't be sure. It's been so long since I've seen it, I've forgotten what it looks like.

No surprise Zach Miller had no targets. Seattle's tight end wasn't targeted once, but it wasn't necessarily because Tarvaris Jackson wasn't looking his way. It didn't help that he only ran a route six times, by my count. The Seahawks needed all the help they could get in pass protection. Miller and Russell Okung held their own against Dallas' DeMarcus Ware, even in one-on-one situations.

Seattle finds many ways to end up 2-6 - Seahawks News - MyNorthwest.com
Whether it was offensive ineptitude, defensive lapses or special teams meltdowns, the Seattle Seahawks have found plenty of different ways to end the first half of the season with a 2-6 record.

What does wide receiver Deon Butler bring to the Seahawks that they don't have? Is Marshawn Lynch really one of the NFL's best running backs as John Harbaugh insists? Could BYU quarterback Jake Heaps consider a transfer?

Seahawks Blog | Jarriel King from DE to LT to LG? | Seattle Times Newspaper - Jarriel King is one of four players the Seahawks claimed off waivers the week before the regular season began. Only two remain: kicker Steven Hauschka and King, who has gone from playing offensive tackle to playing guard.

Midseason player poll: New York Giants' Coughlin least desired coach - NFL - Sporting News - With half the season finished, Sporting News’ network of correspondents asked 111 players from 31 teams everything you want to know about what has happened—and will happen—in the 2011 season. As always in our midseason poll, players were not allowed to name their team, teammates or head coach for any of their answers.

Robert Griffin III tape, ESPN big boards and more " Seahawks Draft Blog - Above you’ll find game tape from Robert Griffin III’s most recent performance in a victory over SEC-bound Missouri. I’ll be breaking down his display in a larger piece tomorrow. I’m trying to get an angle on a definite draft grade for the Baylor quarterback and so far it’s proving difficult. He’s very much a wildcard prospect with a lot of upside and he’s developed greatly during his four years with the Bears. However, something keeps holding me back when it comes to committing to a high grade, even though he’s definitely an intriguing prospect.

2nd Tier (and beyond) QB Prospects - Mocking The Draft
Most people who follow football know that Tom Brady is one of the all time late round draft steals - selected in the 6th round of the 2000 draft sixteen selections after Spergon Wynn and three spots before Todd Husak. He's outlasted 10 the 11 other QB's taken in 2000; only Chris Redman (3rd round) is also still active. More knowledgeable fans might also know that there are a few high-quality NFL QB's who didn't get much hype on draft day: Tony Romo (undrafted), Matt Hasselbeck (6th round), Matt Schaub (3rd round) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (7th round). These guys are often used as examples of how great QB's can be found anywhere in the draft. Unfortunately, that's usually not the case. Almost all successful NFL QB's are found in the top 50 selections of the draft. However, that won't stop NFL personnel men and general managers from trying to unearth the next Brady or Romo.

We're 1 1/2 seasons into a rebuild

So far i’ve liked most of Pete’s moves . We have Dominate safeties and we have upgraded our talent while continuing the youth movement. I’m bummed we lost Walter Thurmand for the season as i feel he will replace Tru oneday (i hope i’m not wrong)
Next draft trade the farm if we have to and get a qbotf and a lg to replace Gallery.
We are a young talented team and it takes time to get consistant, but TJ stares down the recievers and doesn’t look for other options when the play breaks down, so when healthy i think he’ll make a good backup.
I’ve never looked forward to the draft so much. Give Pete another year or two before judging him

Whos saw Antonio Gate's slow ass

outrun Curry last night? Curry ran for about 8 yards and gave up.

I thought by Curry standards, that was a decent game.

From what little I saw, he had a tackle for loss, pressure on QB, some decent hits. He was a liability in coverage but no one in their right mind should put Curry on Gates.

He had the biggest play of the game,

in knocking their left tackle out.

i think Curry needed to be on a team like the Raiders, Steelers, Jets or Ravens where he could just let his inner a-hole run free. Every player has some liability, but Curry’s best talent is to physically intimidate players, and it is good he found a team that will use that talent.

Yeah.

You mean, a team where he’s actually surrounded by talent, and when (not if) he completely blows an assignment, someone else is there to make up for his mistake.

maybe a bit of that too...

but he seems like a far better fit for a defense that is very aggressive – one that has the philosophy that mistakes will be made, but the aggressiveness will also present opportunities.
