I'm Lo Pann

I hate my name I wish I could change it.

From : Spokane

Born and raised a Seahawks and Mariners fan. I was a Sonics fan but we all know that story and I really wish Seattle had an NHL team. I’m also a fan of defending Arena Football 1 and 2 Champions Spokane Shock.

Joined: Oct. 09 but I believe I had a SN before that but was a lurker.

Music: QOTSA ( anything involving Josh Homme really ) anything but Country or Jazz.

My favorite movie is The Goonies. My favorite movie this year was the documentary The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia , these people just don’t give a fuck. I’m just glad they don’t live near me. My least favorite movie is Catfish.

Books : I just finished The Greatest Show on Earth by Richard Dawkins and am reading The Watchman’s Rattle right now. I mostly like history and some fantasy.

Me

I dont comment much, but im planning to.

Anyways, my name is Ben Shanley, i am 15, 16 in march. I live in london, in southern Ontario, Canada. Yes it was named after london england. We even have a “thames” river. The city in wich i live is farther south than seattle, but a lot snowier. I have famipy in the seattle area. We had a freak storm a month or so ago that gave us four feet of snow. We now have five. I spend maybe 1-2 hours a day reading about the seahawks and i am a huge fan. My favourite player is forsett.
I first became a fan in 05/06 when the seahawks were in the superbowl, i was told to pick a team, and my ‘uncle’ in australia liked the seahawks, so i chose them.
I play highschool & summer football. I have won 3 football championships. I am a longsnapper, tight end blocking and recieving, wide reciever, and rush end(stand up DE). I hope to take my snapping to the nfl. My fastest 15 yard snap was .71 seconds. I am 6’2" and 158 pounds.

I do not drink. I like all music, my favourite songs are the show goes on, im beamin, fighters (lupe fiasco), bleed red(rodney dunn i think), picture (kid rock & sheryl crow) home sweet home(motley crue) My favourite movies are black hawk down; the hurt locker, the waterboy, tommyboy, shes out of my leauge, and how to train a dragon.

My wood preference is mahogony, because it sounds the coolest. Animals; crocodile, platypus, cats, and zonkeys. If i had to guess where scruffy’s sister and law is, id say panama city beach florida, because its an amazing city. And mexico is where Canadians go when they want to be murdered.

I went with the Quarian for tech.

She kept dying. It was because I chose the wrong leader to the other group. I went with the Justicar, should have kept it simple and gone with Garrus or the Aussie chick.

I was referring more to my choice on the interaction with the elusive man. I never trusted him, but the cut-out at the end made me think maybe I should re-evaluate… great final scene!

I’[m the nameless, faceless entity that secretly controls every aspect of the world. No business is done, no law is passed, no decision is made without my specific influence. If you think it, it’s because I wanted you to think it. World leaders, billionaires and celebrities all tremble before my feet. I am “Them.”

And even with my vast resources, I still, STILL cannot get the Seahawks a ring. Just goes to show how hopeless this franchise is. Sweet dreams!

My name is fairly obvious.

I never really comment here, but I visit the site every day. I don’t know enough about advanced statistics to feel like I’m keeping the conversation going. I love the Seahawks, Mariners, and Cougs. I live in Bothell, enjoy a good Captain and Coke, and my favorite book is 3-way tie between World War Z, The Road, and Shutter Island. I play Xbox a lot.

I think the thing I enjoy most about Field Gulls is the Off Topic Fan Posts. I’ve talked about books, booze, and Red Dead Redemption on here over the past year, all of which make me extremely happy. I also write for CougCenter (shameless plugs FTW), so feel free to come over there and join us, too.

Keep up the good work here, guys. Even the lurkers like me love the stuff you do.

I am that is

The name is Tyles, and it was Benne who dragged me into this wretched den of iniquity. We’re old friends, which is funny to think about because we’ve only hung out in person once (and were ticketed for jaywalking). But we used to play a stupid online baseball sim seven years ago. (It’s been seven years, Jon!)

I live in Seattle (White Center, moving to Maple Leaf next month) with two dogs and my fiancee. (Three dogs?! Rimfuckingshot! (Just kidding, she’s wonderful.).)

Pro-beer, but if you want specific breweries I’ll have to say that Deschutes and Ninkasi represent the pinnacles of the craft.

I’m passionate about music, but not the stuff you heard on the Grammy’s last night. (You watched the fucking Grammy’s?!) Listening to some Leonard Cohen this morning; have been on a bit of a Scott Walker kick recently; Tom Waits is my musical crush.

Someone mentioned Red Dead Redemption above — one of the best games I’ve ever played.

Movies are great, I have a receding gumline, my favorite wood is morning, and my subject line references my favorite book series as a child. You guys are fucking great; happy to be here.

by whiskybear on Feb 14, 2011 8:14 AM PST reply actions

6 years for me on that stupid baseball sim.

I’m afraid to calculate how much money I dumped on that game.

It’s funny, the jaywalking incident. At the time I thought that cop was just a random asshole. After the many, many stories of Seattle police being assholes since then, I’m thinking we got off lucky.

IMIN4LIFE

My names Wes, I’m 29 and I live in Victoria British Columbia. I grew up in San Diego and fell in love with the Seahawks for no specific reason. I guess it was when I moved to the Northwest and checked a game out and loved the vibe from the people and the whole aura around the franchise.

I’m engaged to a wonderful Ukranian/Canadian girl and we are expecting our first baby come July!!! I shall raise him to be the Seahawks QB since it will probably take us just as long to draft another keeper. I’ve spent most of my 20’s travelling and meeting the worlds people. I’ve been to 39 states, most western Europe, 5 African Nations, every province in Canada, Mexico, 5 Carribean Islands (my favorite) and have noticed one thing everyone place has in common, Hot chicks, sports, food and beer are the true national treasures.

My father moved to North America from the sub-saharan nation of Zambia on a gov. grant. He didn’t have his first pair of shoes till he was 15 years old, now he is responsible for conserving more trees and fresh water areas than almost anyone in history. From him I’ve learned anything is achievable…together we started a non-profit farm in Zambia that we have operated since 2001 that has fed thousands and provided income and education to lots of families and the money goes directly to the people no acceptions. My Mother was born in Canada, my father was doing a talk at a University up here and he met my mom there.

I sell cars for now but am working on opening an Emerald and Amethyst mine in Africa. I kill time playing PS3 and watching netflix. I am not as nerdy as some of my awesome coolnerd friends here on FG but do have my Hawking moments. Other interests of mine include Basketball, Painting, Poetry, Muscle cars, food, and good novels.

As far as movies I dig the epic stuff i.e. Ghandi, Godfather, Last Emporer, and the Golden Child “I, I, I, I, I, I WANT THE KNIFE!!!” Most T.V. sucks but I like Community, Dexter, Deadwood, The Wire, and most of the other good under the radar stuff mentioned by fellow admins and posters. Mostly a sports game player with the PS3 but I mess with shooters on occasion and love the Devil May Cry series (please make a new one).

Musically I’m into good hip-hop, classic rock, blues, non -annoying dance music, Grime, and classical. I previously spent too much time on Facebook and thank god I found FG so now i can spend countless hours on the cpu again looking at something thats I actually give 2 poo poohs about.

Seattle is my home away from home with my cousin living in the Central District and my other best friend living on the Ave. I’m there a lot and try to watch as much Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders games as I can. The city I live in is beautiful however boring as all hell and I just go to the 206 to shop and hang out with people that don’t still think that England controls them.

Most of my posts and comments have comical elements mixed with some insightful opinions on team matters. I have no real ingenious football knowledge the likes of Morgan, Chainsaw, Scruffy, Benne, BrianL etc. for I am new to sports writing and all I can say is it fascinates me when people write original and informative stuff on matters that I think about as a fan all the time and I log on to see a whole article about it. Thank you FG
and all those that have contributed and continue to keep it going strong for its the freshest fansite around with the most interesting non pretentious people around.

GO HAWKS!!! my next move as a fan is too set up a meeting with Calvin Johnson Jr. and the Hawks executives to offer him 1/8 team ownership if he can convince Aaron Rodgers to leave GB and come build a dynasty here. Longshot???

I like the RX440h, of course, the X5 and Acura’s only interesting vehicle, the lovely MDX.

So today I laid eyes on the X5’s big brother, the BMW X6, for the first time. It’s basically like a big, tall sports coupe. And damn is it lovely. My new car crush. Awful fuel efficiency, even the hybrid model. But it’s “fuck the polar bears” pretty.

Hi guys, my name is Leftarrow and I'm a sportsbook holic

I read Field Gulls and Lookoutlanding every day. I’ll even follow the Huskies SB blog. My favorite beer is Blue Moon’s summer ale, I think it was called yellow moon. I also have a thing for good gin and vodka. The best movie ever made is Office Space. It ruined the way I viewed work and I wasn’t even able to work legally.

I’m also mixed race, Korean and White, which leads to some people thinking I’m Mexican. I don’t see it.

Random fact about me is I spent ten minutes trying to think of a good random fact and I can’t.

by LeftArrow2 on Feb 14, 2011 12:36 PM PST reply actions

Please allow me to introduce myself,

I’m a man of wealth and taste, I’ve been around for a long, long year just a few short days, my sports fan faith’s been stolen away.

My name is Patrick, I’m 29 and I live in Renton. I grew up in Houston and I’ve been a fan of the Seahawks since I moved up here in 2005. When I’m not rooting for the ‘Hawks, I watch the Houston Texans. Why? Hell, I’m not entirely sure myself. I come from a long line of Dallas Cowgirl fans and am a tremendous disappointment to my father in this respect. In fact, when I told him I was a Seahawks fan, he damn near disowned me (well, not really) and if we get into another football-related argument it will likely result in pistols at dawn.

My turn-ons include: Shiner Bock beer, honest-to-goodness Texas barbecue, watching the Pittsburgh Stealers fall flat on their asses whenever the refs allow it to happen, writing the occasional smart-alec post (Here’s a sample, if you’re interested), working on my novel when I’m not substitute teaching, watching Brandon Stokely make awesome catches, the movie “V for Vendetta”, Marshawn Lynch’s “Beast Mode” run, and wishing a violent demise for Clay Bennett, Ben Roethlisberger, and Bud Adams, hopefully involving wolverines whacked out of their minds on angeldust.

Turn-offs: Bud Adams, owner of the Tennessee Traitors, absolutely anything from the “state” of Oklahoma (the Sooners, the “Oklahoma City Plunder”, Clay Bennett, tumbleweeds, which consist of about 40% of the state’s population), the Pittsburgh Stealers (while it was nice to see them lose, I won’t be satisfied until the SB refs make blatantly bad calls against the Stealers), Ben Roethlisweasel (I hope sexually frustrated coyotes make him their girlfriend), Bill Cowher’s damn smirk, ANY pictures of Brett Favre (because really, who cares about him anyway?), and Jersey Shore…really anybody in a shade of orange that doesn’t exist in nature should not be on television unless they’re part of a medical study.

Thank y’all for having me on here, guys!

You have to read it (it should be at your local library).

After you do, you’ll be a little bit disappointed with the movie, but that’s ok.

Then go and read just about everything else Alan Moore has written that was turned into sub-par movies – Watchmen, From Hell, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. You won’t regret it.

I’d write more about my life, but considering this is Valentine’s Day and all, I’d just get depressed.

How will you spend YOUR Sundays now?

There's a difference, though,

Between slipping a card into her blouse and copping a feel. I mean it was dumb to say he could slip the card into her blouse, but he took it too far, assuming the story holds merit. I don’t care if he was at a Hooters, it’s undesired and unsolicited contact and he should have at least SOME kind of self-control.

Then again, this is the kind of horse’s ass who tried to stomp on another player’s head, maybe self-control is a little too much to ask of him.

I'm Mookie

It’s actually a nickname but to my knowledge my full name has only ever been published once for a newsletter photo. My nickname comes from ex-NBA player Mookie Blalock.

I’m the pride of Hayward, CA and I’d love to go back there. It’s been 10 years since I last went to the Bay Area and while I live in WA and root for the Seahawks I’d much rather be back home.

Fun Facts About Myself: I have a few gray hairs even though I’m not even 20. It’s hereditary. I have 34 teeth as opposed to 32.

Music: Classic Rock, R&B, whatever “Steely Dan” is put under in the music genre.

Comedian: George Carlin, Bo Burnham, Daniel Tosh, Jon Stewart, Stewart Colbert, Chris Rock, Russell Peters, Dave Chappelle.

Movie: I just finished watching Midnight Run. Excellent movie and funny as hell.

Oh, I also like football a lot. I’m a Seahawks fan.

I also like soccer a lot. I’m a Manchester United fan as well as a Toronto FC fan even though I’m American. Toronto FC is pretty much the Seattle Seahawks of ‘08-’09 but double it and you’ve got four seasons of insufferable suckitude with talentless journeymen. Despite all of this I refuse to become a full Seattle Sounders fan even though I envy the immediate success.

I'm Ian

I don’t believe i have ever posted here, but i’ve been reading for about 2 years. Figure i’ll introduce myself, and hopefully i’ll start posting occasionally.

I’m from Saint Marys, PA, which is in the northwestern part of the state. It’s Steelers country here, and it makes me fucking sick. I hate everything about the city of Pittsburgh. I just graduated from Penn State in May with a degree in Meteorology. I’ve been a Seahawks fan since the beginning of the Shaun Alexander era. I’m also a big Texas Longhorns, Houston Astros, NY Rangers, and NY Knicks fan. Oh, and of course Penn State. I think my favorite current Seahawks player would be Earl Thomas, which can be attributed to my devotion to the Longhorns.

Beer: Blue Moon, Molson, and Straub’s (hometown brew).

Music: Mostly indie rock, some hardcore. Really been a fan of Moneen lately.

Movies: Mainly funny movies. I’m still mourning the death of Chris Farley.

Gum: Should be Nicorette. Need to quit smoking ASAP.

Wood: Morning

Animals: Polar bears. Would love to head up to Nunavut sometime and see some.

OK Lurker question

since several of you have introduced yourself. It’s interesting to me to see so many people who are readers but who don’t partake of the main course of Field Gulls: engaging in the Team Jacob/Edward war.

So the question is: why do you lurk? What compels you now to become more a part of the community, if you are becoming so compelled?

by jacobstevens on Feb 15, 2011 10:30 AM PST reply actions

From my own perspective:

In some ways, it’s an intimidating community to just jump right in and participate in. Most of the posters here are knowledgeable, passionate, and articulate. The first time I ever posted I wanted to add something to a discussion that made an observation which could have been interpreted as an appeal to authority (also known as FG’s favorite logical fallacy of all time), so posted a heavy disclaimer and explanation at the top attempting to explain why I thought it wasn’t.

Which was immediately followed by three or four people jumping on me for using the appeal to authority in my argument.

I think because it’s a community that holds itself to such a high standard (and I think we’re all right to be proud of what that engenders here), “older” posters are quick to leap to correct “younger” ones, which even if well intentioned, can be intimidating.

by Kingdomer on Feb 15, 2011 12:09 PM PST up reply actions

all 3 of these were good and interesting responses.

And they make sense. Also with the team sucking, and many of us becoming a little jaded and bitter, being drug through such an extended QB transition with a popular incumbent has been really hard on all of us.

From late December (Requiem for an Era) for over a month I mostly signed out and read content anonymously, mostly skipping over commentary unread. I joined in occasionally, but had become disgusted by a lot of behavior. Including how that behavior incited my own. I kind of thought, as long as the content remains good — which was also kind of wavering there for a while — I would mostly lurk.

But I didn’t. Couldn’t, I guess. It’s so unbelievably hard to talk good football, good Seahawk football, to people in person. This is my one outlet. Most people I know don’t care, or they’re too uninterested in listening, just want to give their perspective in short platitudes, authoritatively and rigidly.

by jacobstevens on Feb 15, 2011 3:18 PM PST up reply actions

I'll admit

I wasn’t even half as knowledgeable about the Seahawks when i first started reading the blog. This is the first Seahawks blog i’ve ever read, and i’ve learned a ton of stuff from the older posters. It was a little too intimidating for me to post, though. I didn’t want anyone to get the impression that i didnt know anything. Before this year, i hadnt even been able to catch more than 5 or 6 games each year. Seahawks games are never televised in Northwestern Pennsylvania, unless they are playing a primetime game. This year i was able to catch every game except for the week 17 game, through an internet feed. I feel i now know enough about the team to start contributing in discussion. Hopefully you all will welcome me.

Good Question

I have been on FG’s for like forever and while I do respond to post I am mostly a reader and lurker. My old name was socalhawksfan, but I lost my acct when the domain server I used was shutdown. I would have to say out of all the Hawks sites I belong to or signed up with this is by far my favorite. I like a few others I felt it was time to introduce myself.

Lamar
Born and raised in sunny socal (long beach) and I grew up a Steelers fan (still a closet fan) and coverted to the Seahawks in 81. I followed my favorite college player Kenny Easley to the Seahawks and became a fan. But it wasn’t until the 83 season until I became a die hard Seahawks fan and have been since then. I will never forget that Championship game vs the Raiders. My mom’s boss had season tickets to the Raiders and invited me and my mom to the game. But being on the West coast meant I could only get my fill of the Seahawks via my UNCLE who at the time had satelitte TV and season tickets to the Raider games.

My fortunes changed in 86 when my cousin played for the Husky’s from 86-90 and later the SF 49ers. Then I had my first experience with the Kingdom and the fans of Seattle. And from there I was hooked I made it a point I would become a season ticket holder even if it killed me. And in 1999 my wish had come true. But unfortunately the dream only lasted until the 2003 season. Rising ticketing prices, the cost of living and the fact my cousin had moved back to S.F put a end to me being a season ticket holder. If my cousin had only stayed in Seattle I might still be a season ticket holder today. But when it moved I no longer had a free place to stay, a car to get around town. Now I had to pay for lodging, food and transportation and it just became too expense :(

My Favorites

Beer: New Castle

Food: Seafood and Chineese – can’t get enough of either

Movies: Blazing Saddles, The Good the Bad and The Ugly, Star Wars (hey I am old)

Music: 80’s fan for life. New wave, old school rap Hip-hop, Metal/Speed Metal – I listen to everything except 2 types of music …. Country and Wesern :P

Sports: I love sports my favor teams are:
Football Seahawks and UCLA
Baseball: UCLA, S.F. Giants and Red Sox – been a fan of both since I was a kid
Hockey: Kings and the Flyers – same as above
Basketball: UCLA, Clippers and the 76ers

Blog community willy-nilly. I gauge whether I’ll fit in with the crowd and how my brand of humor will go over with the populace at large (I tend to be a bit of a screwball).

I also haven’t been following the Seahawks as long as some others on here and I haven’t felt comfortable speaking authoritatively about anything Seahawks related. A lot of posts I’ve noticed tend to be thought-provoking and thoroughly researched. I tend to post more fluffy, amusing, though usually team-related items because it’s more my style.

Mostly I just wanted to be sure I wouldn’t be chased out by an unruly mob with pitchforks and torches.

and again with the tact and discretion thing.

I posted as soon as I could, after the waiting period. Didn’t realize it at the time, but I came in with a chip on my shoulder. In a very passive aggressive way. I found an incredibly discerning football mind in John, and I was compelled to challenge him. See how I measured up.

So I was rather contrary and argumentative. Not directly, just finding bits & pieces to speak up about, disagree, dissect into pieces and establish how genius and awesome I was. I don’t want to overstate the extent of it, but I can see now I was motivated to do that. Pretty petty and childish, but that’s what I did.

And so I found challenge. Not just through him. But I welcomed it, it made me better all around. And through all of it I was respectful, I think that’s the key.

Tyler

I grew up in Bothell (Inglemoor High School, ‘99), but live in New York City now working in television. I’d love to come back to Seattle, but I’ve had no luck thus far finding work back in the Pacific Northwest. Hope springs eternal though.

I started going to both Mariners and Seahawks games in 1984 when the only two stadiums in the greater Seattle metro area were the Kingdome (sports) and the Tacoma Dome (concerts and monster truck rallies [which are awesome, by the way]). I also passionately follow UW football and basketball.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and hanging with a small handful of the NYC commenting crew here on the site, and if you ever come out to New York during the season, please schedule a visit to the best place to watch the Hawks in NYC, Carlow East, and yell yourself silly with us.

I’ve been reading the site since 2008, and just really started trying to participate a little more here this last season. I’ve found though that we have such an awesome community here, most of the time people have already said what I’m thinking by the time I get it figured out myself.

Dan

I grew up in Lynnwood, WA and in Kihei, HI (mostly in Lynnwood though). I currently live near the Lowell neighborhood in Everett, WA with my wonderful wife, her two sons (18 & 21 this month), two cats, two birds, a turtle and a gecko.

I was raised as a Seahawks, Mariners, Huskies and Sonics (fuck you Howard Schultz) fan, so I’m not new to our suffering, although I was pretty young when the Sonics won the championship, so it started out good for me.

I have fond memories of the Kingdome and the hundreds of events I attended there, but I love our new stadiums even more. I’ve been to the Tacoma Dome, Key Arena, Everett Memorial and Everett Events Center for sports, but have never seen the ShoWare Center, Cheney Stadium, or Emerald Downs (except from a distance).

Deschutes makes awesome beer, but my personal favorite micros come from Diamond Knot in Mukilteo, and I’ll drink any beer if I’m thirsty and it’s available (not a beer snob). I love acoustic music, blues, and anything else that turns my crank. I also have a fondness for remakes and tribute albums for some reason. I’m not a movie guy, but I typically like comedies. I don’t chew gum because I just swallow it as soon as the flavor begins to fade, and eat another piece. Oak is my favorite wood, but I’m not that picky. I love cats, big and small. I’m pretty sure Scruffy’s SIL has built a super secret lair on top of Mt. Baker. I’ve been to Tijuana and Juarez in Mexico, and they both seemed dirty and sad, but the tequila festival in Juarez was pretty awesome.

I bowl, play softball, sing and drink for fun, and love to escape to Cannon Beach, OR. I run an accounting department for a living.

That’s pretty much me.

I've never driven a Frontier but always liked the way they looked and thought they spec'd out well

but the 2 guys I know who’ve had one, didn’t hate them, liked them well enough, but would not buy another. They’d go Dakota or full size to SIlverado.

by jacobstevens on Feb 15, 2011 4:40 PM PST up reply actions

That's kind of what I've heard.

Good truck, but not so amazing they’d ever buy another. It caught my eye because I had an older Nissan truck once, and it was a pretty good rig (kind of regretted selling it), and because it had the pre-runner package.

But I’ve heard really good things about the Dakotas, it has lower mileage, and I don’t really need the skid plates and stuff (although I could easily add them aftermarket).

I just need a truck to drive back and forth to work, and to use to run to the nursery and Home Depot and stuff for the house. I’m sick of borrowing trucks to get projects and chores done.

Yup its Blue's annual Mother Land Reunion

Over at Seahawk Blue they have an annual get together that they call The Mother Land Reunion, bringing in members of that site from around the globe (members from Great Brittan, France, Upstate NY etc) for a weekend of fun, football and debauchery. The tradition of roasting the other teams mascot was pretty much limited to the Rams as the first 3 or 4 Mother Lands coincided w/our home game v the Rams. This past year it was the Jaguars game, and we assume PETA would’ve frowned upon us roasting a big cat, so we just went with more standard tailgate fare and beer butt pork I believe.

Beer, its not just for breakfast anymore.

Yeah, but you can't eat donkey milk or donkey cheese.

People pay you to feed your goats, and you don’t really have to do anything since the goats do all the work.

Dick

Rarely comment. Found my way here from a common path. USSM>LL>FG. I agree with those that have said we’re blessed as far as sports blogs go.

One of the reasons I rarely comment is that I live overseas(Abu Dhabi in the UAE) and frequently watch the games via a combination of nfl.com and this website. The same applies to the Mariners/LL and the Huskies/Dawgman.

My name is Dick in case anyone thought otherwise.

As my nick would imply, I’m fond of alcohol, the Huskies and classic rock. Nazareth was my first concert, somewhere in Seattle in ‘76 or ’77 and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I drink Strongbow cider fro the most part over here but generally head toward Deschutes or Widmer beers when I make it back to the NW.

Stranglehold is probably my favorite song, but some Rush and Led Zeppelin songs come close. I’m very open to different styles and appreciate others’ input on music.

I don’t watch movies.

Doublemint.

Redwood, black walnut or morning.

I think dogs are my favorite. Huskies in particular.

I’d like to thank everyone here for helping me to enjoy the games from where I am. I’ve learned a lot from you and enjoy the humor as well.

Born in Florida, spend half my childhood in Nebraska, other half in Seattle. Currently attending the UW, and live pretty close to campus. Been a Seahawks fan since ‘05, the year I really started watching football. A bunch of my church friends were huge Seahawks fans and would have get together to watch the game. At first I would just join them to hang out, but as I learned more about football and the team I began to develop a serious interest in hawks football (I’m guessing that 13 game win streak or whatever didn’t hurt either). I’m also a Huskies fan (obviously), and had season tickets to the 08 season. I haven’t really watched much Huskies football since then. I’ve only been to one Seahawks game, ‘09-’10 vs. the Bucs. Awful. Been with fieldgulls for about a year and a half and lurked for about a year before that.

Favorites:
Beer – Don’t really have a favorite beer yet, but I expect that to change once I turn 21 in a few months. The stuff I get to drink when I do isn’t very good, but I guess the college mentality is quantity over quality.

Movies- Sunshine (Danny Boyle), Star Wars (hated episode 1 & 2 though), The Hurt Locker, and I am Legend

Music – Pretty much anything except emo music. I’ve recently developed an interest in Jazz as well, but my playlist is mostly R&B, rap, and rock

Sports – Football (duh), Ultimate frisbee, and swimming. I pretty much sacrificed my social life to swim in high school, and looking back now, I wish I had done other sports as well.

I’ve also worked as a lifeguard and a pizza delivery guy. Lots of good times and bad times from those experiences.

Currently in my third year, what about you?

by Lock_down on Feb 16, 2011 10:52 AM PST up reply actions

3rd year, history. This is my first year at UW, though. I find myself asking a lot of freshman-like questions

such as: “Where does myUW show registration times?” “Seriously, dude…?”
I’m not afraid to say I’m pretty averse to science and math classes. As fascinating as chemistry can be, my mind just doesn’t work well enough at that subject matter. Now if the origins of biochem as a study had socio-political implications I’d be all over that.

Go Pack?

by Cheddar28 on Feb 16, 2011 11:15 AM PST up reply actions

Haha, each to his own i guess

Biochem actually has a lot of interesting history in medicine, health, and other sciences. Of course we don’t really discuss this because we’re too busy memorizing the name of a random enzyme that we’ll forget after the next exam. My problem is math, which I’m not too bad at but I definitely struggled in college calc classes. For a major that seems to rarely use math above basic calc biochem sure has a lot of math and physics pre reqs. I’m dreading p chem.

And don’t worry, I still have problems finding my registration times on myUW as well. That site can be pretty frustrating to use.

Nate/Nathan/Natey/Natron/Nate Doggy Dog

I’m a 21y.o. living in the U-District in Seattle. Raised in south Everett/Mill Creek. When I’m not waiting tables to get money for rent and an engagement ring I read history books so I can teach high school (more of a World/Asian history guy than American) when I graduate. I goto church in Lynnwood when I can; It’s crazy what football can do to your relationship with God during the fall haha.

Some of my strongest non-religious convictions are, in no particular order: The Seahawks are the coolest franchise in the country, education needs to be heavily invested in and is absolutely crucial to the health of the economy and to peoples’ quality of life, Scott Pilgrim is here to kick your teeth in, as a man Hasselbeck will always be my favorite football player, and the study of history is an art and a science that has a lot of value as the story of humanity and as the map of how we’re all connected.

My username comes from intramural Carolina-rules football where all the guys on our hall got jerseys (T-shirts) and mine was #28 with Cheddar emblazoned on the top. Our RA decided the nicknames and I can only guess that I was so christened for my addiction to original Cheezits.

I first found Field Gulls when my trip to Greenville, SC for school estranged me from the Seahawks (my fandom grew steadily starting from 2005). I was starving for news about my team. I actually hung around the NFL.com comment threads desperate for Seahawk conversation, monitored Seahawks.com and the major sports news outlets. A link on Shutdown Corner finally brought me to Field Gulls and I was immediately hooked. That was around the time of the 2009 NFL Draft. My first FG Fanpost somewhat ignorantly questioned the quality of the Seahawks’ running game; I hoped and hoped and hoped Julius Jones would amount to something given a continuous role as starter. Oh well.

Think that’s long enough, now.

Had to get rid of it almost immediately due to cost/insurance and it was about to die.

I had a 92 lincoln mark7 with the 5.0 engine… loves that car until those damn auto air shocks went out…

A 97? explorer sport was fun, until it became a 5 cylinder.

I own a 2003 Silverado 1500 4×4 now that I bought brand new. I love my truck, but gas prices are killing me. It’s my favorite, but also my only vehicle I got brand new. Also, after a new intake and exhaust, and it gets up and goes pretty well for a nearly stock 4×4.

Me. Warning... this will probably run long. Apologies in advance.

Username: whiskey chainsaw.
Origins of the name— my father was a logger, my step dad owned a bar. Admittedly the bar didn’t sell hard alcohol, but “beer chainsaw” just doesn’t have the same ring.

Real Name: Tyler Jorgensen.
Member of Field Gulls Since:Sept 3, 2008

How I Discovered Field Gulls: I googled and eventually popped in. Unlike most, didn’t come through lookoutlanding, field gulls was my first sbnation site. I was living in Denver at the time, and was about to go postal on all the bronco fans. I’ve had a couple classic anti-bronco rants here, but I’m too lazy to search them out. One that I recall got rec’d through the roof, and I was quite proud in my drunken state. When I found fieldgulls, I knew I found a place I simply had to participate. It was football, but it was more than that. I get dizzy with all the baseball stats, and part of my joy in football commentary comes from the fact that there is no absolute truth— it’s just a bunch of people searching for rhyme reason and the best possible path. I love the dialogue and debate, and the fact that facts can still be reasoned, there are few absolute statistical truths as of yet.

I suppose if they ever get to the point where there is, this old dinosaur will fade to irrelevancy.

My Involvement at Field Gulls: Far too involved. You guys here have all become a part of my life. Funny, considering I’ve never actually met anyone here in “real life.” But, you are my people. Every last one of you.

From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

I’ve been on the “moving past Hasselbeck” train for a couple years, but am now resigned to knowing he’ll be re-signed. I try not to let it shade everything I see Seahawk related, but it sadly does. I can’t express how happy I will be to see him eventually gone, even if it means a step or two backward before improvement. But I do love him. He’s a Hawk for life, and has given blood sweat and tears for my favorite team in the world, and for that, much props.

I’m thinking to fill the void I’m going to try and put more fanposts up. Maybe see if these guys will let me join the “real” writers here if I can show some consistency. I was initially the “fantasy football post” guy when we started going that route last year, but then I had a job this year that really kept me from putting anything together on a schedule.

Personal Stuff: Grew up in Olympia. Moved to Onalaska, class of 93. Squeaked a year as an exchange student in Australia, before going to Lower Columbia to hoop it up, then St. Martin’s and CWU, each stop decidely less successful on the hardwood and more successful in the classroom. (Funny how that works.) Degree in English: Teaching. Taught for 4 years in Cali, then worked outside education in Colorado, now back to the PNW.

Hit the game winning double to win the Olympia Little League championship over Travis Lee’s team. (South Bay, represent!) Own pretty much every hoops record at Onalaska, 2 league MVP’s and 4 league championships in my 4 years. I’m proud of how hard I worked to earn them to!

Was part of the greatest comback I’ve ever heard about. We won a game against Rochester (who was tied with us for the league lead until this game) in which we were down 16 to start the 4th, and down 12 with :52 on the clock. We won without going into OT. My h.s. coach, Dennis Bower, was no Mike Holmgren when it came to clock management! Started 2 years at LCC, but was far more interested in off the court things in college, sadly. Coached basketball camps in Germany in ’96. Good times, great bier, and amazing people and experiences. Coached high school hoops and baseball when I taught English.

Unemployed currently. Had a great contract job, but the contract wasn’t renewed. I’ve only been to 2 games in Qwest. The chiefs game this year, and the NYG game that I think started our run of destiny in ’05.

Favorite Beer: Pilsner Urquell.
Top 5 Favorite Seahawks All-Time: Largent, Fredd Young, Boz (I know, I know), Easley, and Tatupu.
Least Favorite Seahawk All-Time: Franco Harris.
Books: Just finished the George Martin books (A Song of Ice and Fire). He better get the rest of the damn series done soon!
Top5 All Time Video Games: Gauntlet (arcade). Mass Effect 1 and 2. 007 GoldenEye. Oblivion.

That’s enough for now. Gotta get some job apps in.

I admit, I've never played it.

Reading the wiki right now. Sounds good. The wiki reminded me of another classic though— Ultima. I had one on nintendo that I loved!

Been playing Dragon Age. I like it, but not as much as Mass Effect (same team) or Oblivion (more open-worldy).

Oh man, do it asap.

Get the graphics update, it looks very very good. Much more fantasy, open-world feeling than Oblivion even. Magic is much better as well. Dragon Age is good, but not nearly as good Morrowind/Oblivion.

I only play on xbox though..

and I have a laptop. Not sure if it could handle gaming, or if I would even want to with the smallish keyboard.

But you’re saying it’s available with a graphics upgrade, eh? I wonder if I could run it…

Oh, I forgot another old school game I absolutely LOVED. Baldur’s Gate.

I'm the same way.

Oblivion was the first RPG I even bothered with. And though I want to try Morrowind a lot of the things about morrowind are why I avoided RPGs

I just love it.

Such a beautiful game. The…. cinematography is just brilliant. The musical score, awesome. The plot fantastic.

Funny thing about Mass Effect, to me the game play is the worst factor in it’s entire design. And the 2nd one fixed some of that, though I did get bloody tired of mining.

I just love those games. It’s like playing a live action movie.

How close did you get?

I think it’s worth finishing if you were close, particularly for the payoff of having the decisions you made in the first one play a huge part in the 2nd.

I’ve completed it 3 times now. First on my own, then twice with separate buddies in weekend video game marathons. All three played out different (one as a paragon, one a little of both/more renegade, and the only one I carried over into Mass Effect 2 I felt some of my late decisions significantly impacted my ME2 game the way I would like my character to be, but it was because of my buddy’s input on our decisions.

Might be the guy. He’d probably be about 40 or so, if we’re thinking of the same guy. But that guy might have been a Leif, not a Link.

CMoney87

The handle comes from my initials, my name is Corey middle initial M, born on July 4th of 87. Ive been a fan of all Seattle sports since birth but really got into following sports closely around 03-04. Was born and raised on the eastside, went to Inglemoor HS but graduated from SAS in Bothell in march of 05. I work in land survey/civil engineering and specialize in laser scanning. My work actually has interesting ties to the Hawks, the company I worked for at the time did all the survey work for VMAC and I did some laser scans and GPR work in Qwest (got to walk through the tunnel and bang the Blue Thunder drum). Ive been a daily reader of FG since 08 when I discovered one of Sando’s links to John’s write-ups but just started posting. Just about every spare moment I have is spent reading, watching and obsessing over something NFL related and the only TV I watch regularly is NFL Network. I now currently reside in Federal Way and having been on unemployment for a couple months probably spend too much time on the internet.

Name: You guessed it.

Raised in Yakima, WA, but have been living in New York City for almost a decade now. (If you’re ever in the city during the season, come watch a game at Carlow East!) Grew up a fan of the Seattle teams but was more baseball than football until college, when I roomed with a rabid Pats fan who got me more and more into the sport. Was told about this site by a friend about two years ago and have been a regular ever since.

Beer – I stopped drinking, but favorites included Allagash White, Sam Smith’s Oatmeal Stout, Old Brown Dog and Really Old Brown Dog (all-time fave) from Smuttynose, lots of different IPAs and black IPAs (including Victory’s shout-out to my hometown, Yakima Glory).
Music – Rock. Classic, alternative, modern, you name it. Love to listen, love going to concerts, love to play. Favorite band is Pink Floyd.
Movies – Mostly comedies.
Gum – Haven’t chewed much gum since I was in Junior High.
Wood preference – Cedar (my acoustic) and either mahogany or walnut (my electric…sources vary). Would love a Koa T-5 or a flamed maple PRS.
Favorite Animals – All of ‘em, except for spiders. Seriously, fuck spiders.
Scruffy’s sister-in-law: Visiting me in NY.
Mexico – Loved it every time I’ve been.

Stern looks like he's leaning to get a team in Vancouver more than Seattle...

As a life long Sonics fan I’d rather have a team in a city that actually gives two shits about basketball however i have to admit I’d be happy to be able to check out games close to home again. The Vancouver sports group that owns the Canucks have tons of doe already stashed to get another franchise and all the money in order already as well. The Grizzlies as terrible as they were had really good attendance and that team left due to shitty office operation not fan support. Stern the doucheholio he is will probably give a squad to Vancouver before Seattle, sadly.

There's not a chance in hell the NBA will get one more dollar from me ever again.

Unless the Sonics are returned, we get our history back (yes, it belongs to the Thunder now, who “won” a championship in the 70’s) and get a formal apology from David Stern. An in depth one in which he admits he was wrong, Clayton Bennett was an asshole whose intent was never anything other than stealing the team, and that when we do get the team, we get the first overall pick 3 straight years.

Since that’s not going to happen, I hope David Stern gets a singularly unique quickly debilitating but very slowly mortal disease that later is named for him. “David Stern Disease.” Also, I hope it isn’t covered by insurance so he has to spend every dime he owns trying (unsuccessfully) to fight it.. so he dies financially bankrupt.

(He’s already going to die morally bankrupt, might as well be 2 for 2.)

In other words, Fuck David Stern, and Fuck the NBA.

Wow, you're even more pissed off than I am.

Personally I just want a team back. And we should get our history too, to go along with the name (which we somehow saved). Not sure how the histories work in other sports, but I think they stay with the franchise and not the city?

It varies,

The Browns managed to save their team name and records. When the Oilers moved, Beelzebud Adams kept the records so the Texans had to start from scratch (which is fine because fuck Beelzebud Adams). I think it depends on how much the city fights for the rights to the records, etc.

I've always liked the Texans even before I discovered BRB.

Fun offense, great unis, and an awesome SB blog. Too bad about that defense, though.

Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?

by Benne on Feb 16, 2011 6:34 PM PST up reply actions

That's workable.

Here’s why the Texans are “okay” though:

Not in existence when we were AFC— so no prior rivalry. As far as I’m concerned, a Seattle/Houston SB 5 years in a row would be fantastic all around.

Fan base is really a decent bunch of folks (and prior to meeting them, I never thought anything of Texans in general, so they REALLY swayed me.)

The fans have endured plenty of hardships (losing the Oilers) and are treated like 2nd class citizens in their own state due to “Big D.” Kind of a Seattle vibe to that.

The team is built a lot like Seahawk teams. A balding QB who wears number 8 and is a Matt. Either a good offense and no defense, or good defense and no offense. Heartbreakingly close to “breaking though” and yet weird things always happen to give them a “doomed franchise” vibe. Their “superstar” is a quiet humble WR who doesn’t seek attention and just goes about his business in workmanlike fashion— Andre is like Big Walt in that regard.

Lastly, they’re one of the more fun teams to watch— good offense but you never know what’s gonna happen.

I like them! :)

Avid Seahawks fan since my Dad took me to their first ever game in the Kingdome. Used to tag along with my Dad, who had 40-50yard line season tickets on the 100 level. We sat right in front of Tom Catlin’s wife, just far enough back to see the overhead tv-monitors. She talked constantly but it was neat associating indirectly with a Seahawks coach. I remember many, many games from those seasons and many, many players I feel grateful to have watched in person. I remember Terrell Davis rushing for 199 on us. I remember Largent, Skansi, Blades (x2), Rufus Porter, and of course future Hall of Famer Cortez Kennedy, who is still among my favorite 2 or 3 Seahawks of all-time.

Saw a few games at Husky Stadium including SD, MIA, and OAK (LA?). The Raider game was the Shaun Alexander single-game rushing record (at the time) game. 266 yards on the silver and black. Sweet! Jerry Rice and Tim Brown played for the Raiders then, too. Miami was Jay Fielder at QB. SD I remember a Rodney Harrison INT-return for TD.

At Qwest Field there are no longer tickets in the family, but I’ve gone to at least a handful of games. If I’m not there I’m watching on TV. I remember driving to establishments throughout the seasons outside the blackout area in order to watch games on TV that were not available otherwise. I remember the body-slam of Kurt Warner to force Leinart in. I remember the Browns, Panthers, Chiefs, and others. I love going to that stadium, but have usually lived at least a couple hours away.

Field Gulls is the first blog I’ve ever been fascinated enough to read daily for more than a few month and participate, create fan-posts or fan-shots, and chime in on game-threads. I used to read Sando when he was at the TNT before I found Field Gulls. There are a lot of brilliant minds around here that break down Seahawks football and the NFL in general, so there is alway food for learning about the team I was almost born to love.

Not that anyone cares but I'm DAN!

I’ve been around for a long time…long time lurker, then just recently within the last year or two signed up and rarely post…but I’m here!

I grew up a basketball fan…a Sonics fan from day one, having played BBall in leagues since I was 5. That is the last time I talk about the Sonics, for my heart is broken. HOWEVER as I grew older, football became my sport, I started playing it in elementary school and played all the way through high school until I blew out my shoulder. I became a Seahawks fan at an early age as well, but became a DIE HARD fan the second I realized that my Seahawks were about to move to LA. Thankfully Mr. Allen saved the day, Holmgren was on board, Qwest came along, as well as some bloody raw vocal chords from me SCREAMING my ass off at the home games. I love the Seahawks, I love football, and I love the Hawks.

Personally, I am 24 and a huge film and music lover, and went to school for computer animation and am currently working on my animation portfolio hoping to get into a game studio before moving on to film as I improve my skills. Right now I’m stuck doing gulp health insurance sigh, but it pays the bills and is flexible enough to let me work on my art. Hoping that I can get it going soon!

Working on a football related animation right now which I will be sliding over to EA Sports and Tiburon….I’m a huge Madden fan, but I can see all the flaws and I want to work on it to make it the best!

GO HAWKS!

Name: Omerta is the blood oath of secrecy Mafia members swear to upon entering that particular brotherhood. I am neither Italian nor a criminal, but my name is Michael and Michael Corleone is a great movie character, so there you go. I work at a fine local retail establishment on the night shift. 29 years young, grew up in California as a Rams fan but moved up here in ’93 and adopted all teams Seattle fairly quickly. Hold no love for the St. Louis version of said Rams.

I don’t comment here too often (or at all, really). I find that, most of the time, my thoughts are adequately echoed by someone else in a thread and I don’t feel the need to rinse and repeat…but I read here, LL, CougCenter pretty much everyday and have for quite some time. We have been blessed with some pretty talented writers over the lifespan of SBN, may it continue.

Beer: Rolling Rock and Manny’s…my tastes are fairly pedestrian. I find something I like and I stick with it.

Music: Everything except pop country.

Movies: Noticed Lo Pann leading off the thread…BTILC is my favorite movie of all time. Many of the others have been named here already.

Gum: Those little ice cube breaker thingies.

Wood preference: Stiff as a board.

Favorite Animals: Can’t beat dogs.

Scruffy’s mystery of where his Sister in law may have run off to: I caught a little bit of that story in the thread, hope everything turns out ok.

If you do Jack in the Box...

I strongly suggest an Ultimate Cheeseburger, but make sure you request lettuce and tomato. It makes it a real burger, and a damn tasty one. Plus the extra calories are “good” ones, as opposed to the rest of that tasty gut bomb.

Also… at McDonalds— neat trick. Order the mcdouble (two patties and cheese, iirc?) But order it with Big Mac sauce. Big Mac sauce is the bomb! Some McD’s make you pay extra for it, some do not… just depends, but still spiffy’s up a dollar menu item nicely.

But when I get fast food burgers I just like meat and cheese (okay, maybe diced onions on a QPC). But man there is nothing better than thick slices of red onion, tomato, pickle and lettuce on a homemade burger… MMMMMMM….

Yeah Milk Barn

is horrible. I think the only reason they still keep serving it is the dumb high school kids down the street.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

Taco Bell.

I know what I’m eating, but it has the spicies that I’m looking for, and I’m usually too broke to afford anything else.

Del Taco

Identical tacos to Taco Bell but for 39 or 49 cents a piece, your $5 goes a lot further. Bell hasn’t been the same since they took the 2 for $1 tacos away, and I used to work there (first job outta HS was doing that at night and construction layout in the day, hard to work for minimum wage when your making $20/hr but I didn’t wanna quit in the middle of a pay period and get a $30 check).

Yeah, my taste buds and my stomach regularly flip one another off.

Which is kind of amusing since neither of them have fingers.

Especially after the mystery meat news recently.

What do you mean it’s not ‘beef’?

I have moral objections to Jack in the Box tacos.

Under no circumstances should tacos ever have sliced American cheese on them.

Kyle

I actually discovered this site almost 4 years ago, after googling an article from Seahawks.net (in its scout days) and finding an article by John Morgan ripping the author a new one.

I was/am a daily reader of USSM/LL, but oddly enough I never discovered this place from here.

The reason I didn’t post or even create an account until recently was, oh gosh, all the drama I had read in the comments. I noticed that things have really calmed down in the past couple months. I was shocked when Morgan stepped down, because the site seemed to be doing very well at the time.

Anyway, this seemed like a good chance to break the ice and make that first post. I probably won’t post almost ever, but I look forward to watching the community fill in John’s shoes as best they can. Thanks Benne for your tape breakdowns on Curry. Very cool.

Venoy Overton is one of the worst and most annoying basketball players I've had the displeasure of watching in some time.

The pesky on ball defender on speed was cute when he was a sophomore but he’s regressed if anything and is just a big pile of suck now.

I'm Stefan although I believe I have a longer user name as seen below:

As you may have surmised from my subject – I’m Stefan. Formerly of Seattle (Ballard) and now living in the hated and derided Pittsburgh. I go to school out here, and maybe it’s Stockholm syndrome but I really like the city here. It’s just a shame about that football team. Surprisingly I’ve met a lot of cool Steeler fans in this city who say we got hosed by the refs. Then there are others who want to talk shit and start fights.

I love field gulls and the analysis presented here and MAYBE this summer when I’m not so busy with school I’d like to try my hand at writing some fanposts or the ilk.

Favorite beer: Don’t make me choose – I really like most stuff brewed out in the great PNW and miss it dearly. I just about cry when I see NW brews out here.

Music: I guess it could be best described as hipster bullshit? My top 5 bands are: The Replacements, The Stooges, Drive By Truckers, The Modern Lovers, and the last spot is always in flux but The Decemberists.

Movies: The Seven Samurai is my all time favorite movie now and forever. A long time ago an ex girlfriend took me to see it in all it’s 3 1/2 hour unedited glory at a film festival for my birthday. That birthday still ranks quite high among top five birthdays (I like to make lists)

Gum: Big Red

Wood: Rose, it’s real pretty and I’d like to have a nice shaving brush with a rosewood handle – regrettably I’m poor so that isn’t happening.

My name's Dave

I’m from Dublin, Ireland and am a Seahawks fan thanks to a demo I got of Madden 07. Never watched American football before that but I got hooked on the sport through playing Madden. The rest is history. I watch most of the games online because we only get about 2 hawks games per year on tv here. I’m hoping to make it up to Qwest this September for a game if there’s a season.

I found field gulls about 2 years ago. I comment now and again, mostly in the postgame threads. John Morgan taught me so much about the game and I really appreciate the game so much more because of this site.

Anyway,
Movies: Fight Club, V for Vendetta, Clockwork Orange, Gladiator, The Departed,
TV Series: Dexter, It’s Always Sunny…, The Inbetweeners, South Park, Lost
Music: Radiohead, Oasis, Stone Roses, The Killers, The Strokes, Editors, White Lies, Justice, The Prodigy, Arctic Monkeys
Beer: Heineken, Guinness
Favourite player: Tats

Hawks fan since '83, Pavement, The Wire, don't drink

Name is Dan. Live in Toronto Canada. In my mid-40s. Fan of all of Toronto’s frustrating, shitty sports teams such as Maple Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays. No love except magical back-to-back World Series championships from Jays in 92/93.

Have been a Seahawks fan since about week 5 of the 1983 season when they clobbered my friend’s beloved Cleveland Browns. Favorite player: Kenny Easley. Other notable events in 1983: saw Black Flag, got kicked out my first high school, tried pot, groped a girl’s breasts. Not necessarily in that order. I was 15.

Quit drinking in the late 90s so been a long long time since I had a beer. Liked Becks for its smooth easy-to-drink-a-dozen factor and Labatt’s 50 for it’s down-and-out appeal.

Huge music fan. Was very involved in early 80s punk/hardcore scene and fan of many of the more musical groups that sprung from it. So, I can say that in addition to seeing Black Flag, the Clash, bad brains, Circle Jerks, Husker Du, Gang of Four, Suicidal Tendencies etc that I saw Nirvana about 18 months before nevermind came out, was backstage at a Soundgarden/Faith No More show, met Sonic Youth, etc. Favorite concerts this year: Pavement reunion show, the Specials reunion show, Rush at a Toronto hockey arena, free concert by X and Mudhoney, Flaming Lips. Yeah, I’m old.

TV show: the Wire. Best. Show. Ever.

Married. Got a couple kids. Favorite current Seahawk? Not really sure. Liked Josh Wilson alot. But they stupidly dumped him for a draft pick. Could be Okung if he gives us a full season next year. Do like me some Mebane… BMW…

I confess I temporarily set aside my left coast hate for all things for all things Toronto

in 92/93 when they Jays were good.
I’m forced to work with transplanted Maple Leaf fans though… grr..
Like your taste in music, I was a punk fan until about 85 when I discovered the DayGlo Abortions (Victoria punk!) and then Metallica.

by Strictnine on Feb 25, 2011 3:29 PM PST up reply actions

I like that

You liked punk UNTIL you discovered the DayGlo Abortions. I haven’t thought about that band in quite some time.

I am so jealous of your concert attending

Also holy shit Mudhoney and X doing a free concert – jealousy is now approaching seething levels.

Me

This is my first post here. I’m a diehard ‘Hawks fan and I try to keep up with the Mariners but its hard to without cable or dish. I love 2pac and Eminem. I’m a gamer who loves playing Nazi Zombies and Borderlands. I’m a pretty hardcore Christian so its hard to find a way to go to church and get home in time to watch games when we go to the East Coast (then again we always end up losing those games anyway soooo….). My favorite player is Matt Hasselbeck because he’s so unpredictable. He is either superman or worse than Mark Sanchez. I have been to three games. I went to the one where Shaun Alexander tied the record for most touchdowns in a season (27). Then I went to two awful games best left forgotten.

Do or do not, there is no try-Yoda
