I just wanted to say something to all of the new authors who are writing articles in place of John Morgan. I know we all miss John and I know he casts a huge shadow, but I encourage all knew writers to NOT compare themselves to John in their articles. I suggest this for two reasons:
* First, it casts a sense of self-doubt from you, the author. You are writing an article worth reading ONLY if you know something we the reader do not. Thats why we read; to be informed. By starting off stating how your style differs from John or how he did things you can't casts a tone of 'I'm not as worthy of an author as John is." We all know John is gone and no one else is him. Step foward with confidence in the things that YOU can offer than John never could, that confidence will keep us reading.
* Second, we just don't want to be reminded that John is gone because then, as we read your articles, we are reading from the lens of "John would have done this or said that different' which is counter to what you want and the reason you made point to mention you were not John in the first place. So, you defeat yourselves before ever even starting.
I don't mean this as a harsh critique but really just to encourage you all. You have a knowledge far beyond mine and the articles written in the past week have, as always, been top notch and informing. So, be bold and confident and write with YOUR voice in YOUR style and this site will not maintain, but actually GROW. I believe in you guys, keep it up!
