Favorite Radio Call

Stay connected for news and updates

Any of you that have followed fieldgulls through this last season have seen the dread that most collections of broadcast teams illicit from the fans. So I'll tell a little bit of a story before I ask the question that the title represents. When I first returned to the sport of football in terms of the Seahawks it was at the recommendation of a number of friends. I had lived through 91-97 catching an average of about 12 games a season and the worst period of offensive football in hawk history. Yeah, I jumped in the first year of the holmgren era, but I was young and my fire for the hawks wasn't there never having been old enough for anything of the 80's grinder teams.

I know, I"m rambling a little. So I remember the first sunday I tuned into the Seahawks on 610 AM KONA here in the Tri-City Area. I didn't have a TV until the following summer of 2003 and so the first game I ever remember from the modern era of Seahawk football was against an old rival, the Kansas city chiefs in 2002  I became a fan of the Seahawk Radio Brodcasts from this point on and make it a point to listen to at least 2 games a year on the radio. For me, there was nothing more fun than hearing a game and letting your mind play out what was happening.

My favorite call was anytime they'd hand the ball to Shaun, of course he'd be a star that day against the chiefs and maybe that's why it happened, but I always felt secure when they gave Shaun the ball. When Raible Took over color later on the call was always "The Turn and hand to Shaun." (of course there's also almost always "I-Backs" in front of the call) It was my favorite call. plays can be memorable sure but I wonder if I could have had the same feelings anytime Pete Gross would call a deep throw to Largent.

So here's really why I posted this. For anyone that has spent time with hawks games on the radio, what was your favorite call? What would get you ramped up on the edge of your seat? And here's another question, what player's name would you want to hear a lot of in a radio broacast? I'll even leave it open for future players people might want the hawks to take in the draft.

So tell me folks, what do ya got?
