Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Pro Football Focus displays a variety of data regarding the success and failures of NFL Cornerbacks. Of particular interest (and surprise) to me was how well one Kelly Jennings fared. The info is well worth a look.

They also did a piece on safeties and tackling

According to their charting, Earl Thomas was one of the top 10 poorest tackling safeties in the league (12 missed tackles on 61 attempts):

I read that...

He was noted as perhaps lacking in the tackling ability department as a prospect, but he can improve. His ball-hawking helps offset that, but I would like to see him tackle better and I think he will. Needs better technique more than a lack of ability, I think.

Hasseldone.

Much like some of the defensive stats in baseball I would question this one based on what it is looking at

ET gets himself into a possible tackle more often then others, you have to throw out a lot of those guys based on sample size and then determine who was in position or just not in a position to make a tackle because their speed got them closer than they should have.

We should get rid of E.T.

And keep Jennings based on that. Maybe we could trade him for at least a 6th round pick.

Watching the Seahawks is like peeing on yourself, everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling it brings

Surprising indeed

A bit barebones so not a lot to criticize. Could be a fluke and/or a result of who Jennings was assigned to. Could be him having a better year. I just didn’t see it but who knows.

Coincidentally PFF also declared Matt Ryan the best QB of last year. And Tom Brady the 33rd-best player. I do have a hard time taking them seriously on principle

This chart ignores so many spurious factors it's not even funny.

Kelly Jennings is a bad football player and needs to sign with the Rams immediately.
