Seahawks Injury Report; News and Rumors Open Thread

Photo

Injury Report:

Left guard Robert Gallery and middle linebacker David Hawthorne both practiced fully again today and are expected to play. Again, this likely means that rookie James Carpenter will move back to right tackle and Breno Giacomini will go back to the bench. (Update: Eric Williams confirms that Carpenter was again working with the ones at right tackle today and it appears the Seahawks are leaning towards starting him there this weekend.)

Sidney Rice was still limited in practice and his status for the weekend is up in the air. If I had to guess - based on nothing at all other than a hunch - he won't play on Sunday.

Key special teamers Michael Robinson, Byron Maxwell, Malcolm Smith, and Dexter Davis did not practice. This is concerning, considering the issues the Seahawks had on special teams last week. T Jarriel King did not participate either.

As for the Steelersper Brian McIntyre:

Did not participate: WR Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring); Limited participation: G Chris Kemoeatu (knee), CB Bryant McFadden (hamstring); Full participation: CB Curtis Brown (ankle)

News and Rumors:

Today has been pretty boring, actually. I just saw Lawyer Milloy say this on his Twitter account: "Just thinking the BIG road trips by my #Huskies & #Seahawks. I believe this is gonna be a #winning weekend for #Seattle!! #12s"

Which makes me wonder if he's still looking to play this year, and if he's had any offers. I haven't heard anything in the last few weeks about Milloy or Lofa Tatupu

You guys see anything out there of interest?

Jon Ryan???

Ryan’s hair was finally long enough to donate to locks of love, he has short hair now. The video was on the seahawks home page.

Im not sure what bleacher report is

and don’t usually surf the internet to look at pics of cheerleaders. I certainly dont mind pics of cheerleaders not on this site.

I thought the pic was funny and was pointing out he put a picture of flowing hair on this post.

Tell Danny not to put cheerleaders hair in pics anymore

and we will avoid this confusion, and I will not go to something called Bleacher Report :P

It's an if/then statement Benne.

“If your going to put a cheerleader as a pic we need full body exposure!”

IF you’re going to put up cheerleader pics, THEN don’t be a cock tease.

IT was a joke. Not a request for cheerleader pics.

And who goes to Bleacher report when they want to see T&A? If one wants to get the horn whilst surfing the interwebs, I’d suggest tube8 or redtube.

*for the record, I thought it was Clay Matthews in the pic.

Lemme sum up:

Benne says go to Bleacher Report for cheerleader pics.

You're right

No one should EVER be told to go to Bleacher Report. How dare you, Benne!

You've uncovered my ruse.

I’m a double agent working for BR, spending years mocking the site in order to implant a subconscious, involuntary desire for people to visit it, just to see if it’s as bad as they heard it was.

Slideshows aren’t the only reasons they get millions of hits, my friend. Now that you know my true motivations, I must kill all of you. And here is where my mod powers really come in handy. I hear Bermuda is a nice place to visit this time of year.

I'm pretty sure you know I was being sarcastic, Benne, but if not:

That's how fetishes get made

First you’re told not to do something (go to BR), then it gets sexualized and the next thing you know, you can’t get off with reading a paragraph full of plagiarized typos explaining how your team is going to trade 2 6ths and a fringe player for both Brady and Rivers so that you can run a wing-T/A11 hybrid offense (because it worked in Madden).

Love me some Lofa..

Was hoping he would be the Seahawks Teddy Bruschi, and lead us to several championships. Classic Ruskell guy though. Small, big school guy who flashes quick, but can’t hang with the rest of the league. The nfl is more about scouting and taking an educated gamble..

Hate seeing our leader go though.

WHERE'S THE LINK?

Without a website specifically stating that Aaron Curry is going to remain a Seahawk for the rest of the 2011 season, then I MUST assume that he’s already been cut. As far as I’m concerned, ALL of the Seahawks have been let go until someone provides proof to the contrary!

That doesn’t bode well for the Steelers game.

Little suprised to see that Lofa hasn't signed somewhere else

Maybe he’s asking for too much money? He obviously has alot of pride, was willing to leave Seattle rather than restructure his contract. Wonder if he is regretting that decision now.

by Bellevue on Sep 15, 2011 7:08 PM PDT reply actions

If I was in Lofa's shoes,

I’d be waiting for a LB on a good team to get hurt. Creating an opening on a team that can make a playoff run. He doesn’t have many more years left, why waste them?

by hazbro24 on Sep 15, 2011 7:25 PM PDT up reply actions

I think it is more likely

that other teams find him, useless. He was only an icon, to our fans. We seem to remember him in 05 & 06 as something better than he was, and didn’t see what he was after that. We claim he was really smart, and was the leader of our defense. A key cog to a complex solution. Yet our defense was considered terrible by the rest of the league.

Lofa’s value is sentiment. Other teams will not pay for our cast of sentiment.

by GnarlyHawk on Sep 15, 2011 7:35 PM PDT up reply actions

I do respect your point

He didn’t make the defense suck, but he also didn’t exactly help it excel. Teams aren’t judging him for the team play of the D’s he was on. They aren’t signing him because of his play while on them, combined w/ injury history and his current abilities/limitations.

by GnarlyHawk on Sep 15, 2011 8:07 PM PDT up reply actions

That's true, but easy to misrepresent

He was a key cog to our defense, and that was not directly related to its terribleness, at least not until Lofa slowed down, but the thing is, being a key cog and intelligent leader of one specific defensive setup does not make you an attractive free agency prospect late into the off-season. That’s why I haven’t been too surprised at the lack of interest.

Lawyer is a great fan

I absolutely love that Lawyer Milloy is still a Seahawks fan. I hope he has a future with the team in some capacity. That sort of genuine appreciation for a particular team is a rarity among athletes at that level — especially ones who still hope to play somewhere else. Despite not being brought back by the team this year he still roots for them — that is awesome.
