DraftWatch - Week 3

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't root for your team to go 0-16. Did all of us really want to come into every week of the season hoping that our team would find a way to lose just so we could have a better shot of drafting some guy? Honestly now.

So the bad news for all those "Suck for Luck" devotees is that our win over the Cardinals takes us out of the top spot for the #1 pick in next year's draft. (Had we lost, we would've held on to #1.) The Colts have now taken over the first slot, while the Chiefs, another team that may look to make a change at QB next season, holds third.

Here's how the order looks now:

1. Colts -- 0-3, 25-23 SOS, 0-1 Div.

2. Rams -- 0-3, 25-23 SOS, 0-0 Div.

3. Chiefs -- 0-3, 26-22 SOS, 0-1 Div.

4. Vikings -- 0-3, 28-20 SOS, 0-2 Div.

5. Dolphins -- 0-3, 30-18 SOS, 0-1 Div.

6. Cardinals -- 1-2, 21-27 SOS, 0-1 Div.

7. Seahawks -- 1-2, 22-26 SOS, 1-1 Div.

8. Bengals -- 1-2, 23-25 SOS, 1-0 Div.

9. Falcons -- 1-2, 24-24 SOS, 0-1 Div.

10-11. Eagles -- 1-2, 25-23 SOS, 0-1 Div.

10-11. Bears -- 1-2, 25-23 SOS, 0-1 Div.

12. Panthers -- 1-2, 25-23 SOS, 0-0 Div.

13. Jaguars -- 1-2, 25-23 SOS, 1-0 Div.

14. Broncos -- 1-2, 26-22 SOS, 0-1 Div.

15-16. Steelers -- 2-1, 21-27 SOS, 0-1 Div.

15-16. Browns -- 2-1, 21-27 SOS, 0-1 Div.

17. Texans -- 2-1, 21-27 SOS, 1-0 Div.

18-19. Saints -- 2-1, 22-26 SOS, 0-0 Div.

18-19. Redskins -- 2-1, 22-26 SOS, 1-1 Div.

20. Titans -- 2-1,23-25 SOS, 0-1 Div.

21-24. Chargers -- 2-1, 23-25 SOS, 1-0 Div.

21-24. Ravens -- 2-1, 23-25 SOS, 1-0 Div.

21-24. 49ers -- 2-1, 23-25 SOS, 1-0 Div.

21-24. Buccaneers -- 2-1, 23-25 SOS, 1-0 Div.

25. Patriots -- 2-1, 24-24 SOS, 1-1 Div.

26. Raiders -- 2-1, 24-24 SOS, 1-0 Div.

27. Jets -- 2-1, 25-23 SOS, 0-0 Div.

28. Giants -- 2-1, 26-22 SOS, 1-1 Div.

29. Cowboys -- 2-1, 26-22 SOS, 1-0 Div.

30. Packers -- 3-0, 21-27 SOS, 1-0 Div.

31-32. Bills -- 3-0, 23-25 SOS, 1-0 Div.

31-32 Lions -- 3-0, 23-25 SOS, 1-0 Div.

That's right, sports fans - the Bills and Lions, the two biggest stories in the league this year, share the bottom of the draft order.

We had a lot of discussion last week about which teams could conceivably go after Andrew Luck if they had the #1 pick, and there was a lot of sentiment that whichever team drafted first was going to take Luck no matter what. So we're switching the criteria a bit here - the five teams that I've highlighted are the five that are most likely to take a QB no matter where they end up picking. That means the Seahawks are the fourth QB-needy team in line for this year's draft. (And if I followed college football at all, I may be able to tell you who the 4th best quarterback would be. But I don't.)

Week 4 shapes up to be an interesting one, draft-wise. Not a single game next week pits two divisional opponents against each other. The Seahawks host Atlanta, last year's NFC South champions that seem to have taken a step backwards. A loss will likely keep them in the top 10 of the draft, while a win might force the tankwagoners to go into hiding for the rest of the season. See you next week!
