Post Your Hawk: Week 4

126567037_extra_large_medium

Atlanta Falcons (1-2) vs. Seattle Seahawks (1-2)

Atlanta Injuries: Stephen Nicholas LB (Calf, DNP Wed., DNP Thurs.); Jonathan Babineaux DT (Knee, DNP Wed., DNP Thurs.); Kelvin Hayden CB (Hamstring, DNP Wed., LP Thurs.); Roddy White WR (Thigh, DNP Wed., DNP Thurs.); Jason Snelling RB (Concussion, DNP Wed., DNP Thurs.); Sam Baker OT (Ankle, LP Wed., FP Thurs.); Curtis Lofton LB (Foot, LP Wed., FP Thurs.); Cliff Matthews DE (Knee, LP Wed., DNP Thurs.)

Seattle Injuries: Robert Gallery OG (Groin, DNP Wed., DNP Thurs.); Kam Chancellor S (Quad, DNP Wed., DNP Thurs.); Byron Maxwell CB (Ankle, DNP Wed., DNP Thurs.); Matt McCoy LB (Shoulder, Head, DNP Wed., FP Thurs.); Jarriel King OT (Ankle, FP Wed., FP Thurs.); Michael Robinson RB (Ankle, FP Wed., FP Thurs.)

Star-divide

Again, I have almost no time, so let's cut to the chase. My Hawk this week is Chris Clemons. I think he's going to go off against Atlanta's shaky offensive line to the tune of 2.5 sacks, plus a critical tackle for loss on a 3rd down. However, Atlanta prevails (barely) 20-16.

Here's a link to the point prediction spreadsheet: Link. Remember, you can only miss four weeks before you're not eligible for the championship. In a few weeks, I'll introduce the adjusted averages by tossing out your worst two weeks, but I want to make sure we have a decent sample size before doing that.

Who ya got?

Sidney Rice hits pay dirt for the first time as a Hawk

7 for 124 yards and a TD. Seahawks squeak it out 24 – 21.

I thought you were an optimist? Oh perhaps having points on the board is optimism.

Quarterbacks have to be as cocky as a rooster to be successful.
Wait, who's on our roster?

My mind says Falcons

My heart says Seahawks 17, Falcons 13.

The Earl

Gonna have a couple of nice coverages on Rowdy Roddy, and also pick a pass off for himself.

Hawks hold on at 20-13. I’m pretty excited to see our defense try to stop Atlanta’s running game. I think we could easily get blown out, too, but right now I feel somewhat hopeful

Im going to go with Sidney Rice too

Falcons 24 Seahawks 20

I need to bounce back from last week! I am happy that we won but my prediction was terrible.

A little bit

It looks like he will be good to go and I highly doubt it will hamper his abilities in any noticeable fashion.

I have to go with Earl

With a pass defenced, five tackles and he grabs an interception.
Hawks still fall though:

Leon Washington

Washington pops one on a zone blocking play and takes it to the house. He finishes with 4 carries for 64 yards and a score. Seattle squeaks one out 16-14.

by brockled on Sep 30, 2011 11:10 AM PDT reply actions

Chris Clemons

2 sacks, 1FF, 7 tackles. Mattie Ice remains with the league leaders in sacks. Falcons 24-17.

by MapleBar on Sep 30, 2011 11:16 AM PDT reply actions

Alan Branch

can’t be moved on the line of scrimmage and holds Turner to 3.4 yards a carry. He also grabs a sack, funnels some plays towards big red, and makes the Falcons one dimensional. Matt Ryan gets it done though so 31-16 Falcons.

T Jack

Confidence from last week carries over. He uses his feet and athleticism to make some plays. Distributes the ball better to his weapons including Williams and Washington. Gets more time to throw. This is the breakout game for Tavaris!

Carpenter

Ok, after you’re done laughing… Atlanta has had poor run D this year so far, and is beat up as well. Carpenter has improved steadily through weeks 1-3, and this might be the week where we start to see the line opening holes for #24, and we game plan to run the football and keep Matt Ryan off the field. Hopeful, unlikely (I know), but I hope that I am right.

Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. Mack Strong shops at my grocery store.

by YoSoyMacho on Sep 30, 2011 11:39 AM PDT reply actions

Seriously

If you guys want to win, stick with a four man rush. Falcons O-line has given up 12 sacks against the four man rush, only one against five or more.

by Adam_S on Sep 30, 2011 11:50 AM PDT reply actions

Chancellor

A safety blitz results in a concussion for Matt Ryan. Chancellor still gets the 15 yard personal foul, although perfectly legal. I have no clue who Atlanta’s backup is, but he’s not good enough to win with his ears bleeding from the CLink..

Hawks win 13- 10… again…

Tate/Clemons...I'm not joking

I think Tate makes some key catches on Gameday. He hasn’t been dropping balls lately and is catching high flying horrible passes.

Clemons gets shadowed by Tight end/RB chips all day. (They know he’s coming) 3rd and 4th quarter Browns get tired. Endless engine Clemons keeps going gets a pair of sacks and a forced fumble.

On another note imagine how happy Tom Brady would be to have Tate or Williams on his team. It would be more than just team Welker.

Quarterbacks have to be as cocky as a rooster to be successful.
Wait, who's on our roster?

Mr. Baldwin

While everyone is busy covering the full compliment of the hawks threats (BMW, Rice, Miller) this little guy runs perfect routes and gets open for T-Jack to find him. Rice gets his but Baldwin is the difference maker.

Close game but Falcons do not blow 3-4 chances in the 4th quarter to score and win 23-20.

I'm gonna go with Leroy Hill

He’s gonna be busy cleaning up Turner, so I’ll say 7 tackles, including one for a loss. He also gets in on the blitz a couple times with two pressures on Ryan.

Leon on O/ST - WT3 on D/ST

Leon will get a few nice returns (KO and punt). Rush 8 times for 56 yards, catch for 34. He will get a TD on a HB screen.

WT3 will get a pick, 5 tackles (including ST), and a fumble recovery (on ST).

Seahawks 27 ATL 24

What’s his status this weekend?

by goatweed on Sep 30, 2011 1:06 PM PDT up reply actions

I think he had something like 3 tackles against AZ

He’s behind Browner, comes in on nickel plays. I don’t think Browner is going to get as many snaps (unless he stops causing penalties the way he has).

That’s the reason he gets some ST tackles I think. He will get the pick late third or early 4th qtr since ATL will be throwing more (since the run game will stall) IMO

It’s gonna be one of those two. Atlanta hasn’t done that well on the road (if I remember correctly) and the Clink is gonna be rocking. Expect false starts and poor play on the OL for Atlanta.
