So, the Jets think they can trade away Mark Sanchez...

Not that anyone really wants to pay over $8 million dollars (just for next season alone!) for a QB that has committed 50 turnovers in his last 30 games, but the New York Jets are looking to trade Mark Sanchez this offseason, and then sign a presumably-released Michael Vick (/facepalm). Would Sanchez's old college coach Pete Carroll be interested in trading for him? Absolutely not...unless the Jets were to package a draft pick with Sanchez to get him out of town; FYI, Sanchez's salary is NOT guaranteed beyond the 2013 season, and, of course, the Jets will be on the hook for the cap hit stemming from his signing bonus. Another FYI: There will be no more salary cap "rollovers" after next season, which means no leftover cash under the 2013 salary cap will NOT roll over to 2014. We'd still need to send something to the Jets to complete any such trade, and there are two Seahawks I have in mind that might make the trade work for both sides: 1.) Matt Flynn. Even if the Jets sign Vick, he has become notoriously injury-prone, and since they are all-but certain to get rid of Tim Tebow as well, it all boils down to how much confidence they have in Greg McElroy (and who knows if a new coach and/or a new GM will even want to keep him). If the Jets are very weary of pointless turnovers, Flynn would be a good get. 2.) Sidney Rice. Nothing against our best receiver, but he's both expensive and injury-prone, and yet still productive enough to get a pretty high draft pick out of the Jets. Keep in mind that there are two stellar receivers in free agency this year -- Mike Wallace and Dwayne Bowe -- not to mention any number of stellar receivers coming out of college that the Seahawks might want to use a high draft pick on. This team has done an exceptional job of turning rookies and 2nd-year players into better-than-average starters, and might want to continue the youth movement here. Other than the defensive line and maybe tight end, there aren't any other positions that we haven't already addressed in the draft the last 3 years. (And if we do make this move, we'd certainly trade Flynn in a separate trade.) I'm confident enough in Russell Wilson that I'd tolerate Sanchez for just one year as a backup, and if we're lucky he'll only get a few garbage-time snaps like Flynn this year.
