Joe Philbin to H.C. Dolphins, Does Matt Flynn follow?

Easy question as stated above... trying to percolate QBOTF talk. I believe Philbin has a good chance of pulling Flynn to Miami to lead their O. I think the obvious reason for my opinion is the history they have shared at Green Bay, as well as Matt Flynn becoming a free agent this off season.

The news of Joe going to Miami was quite sudden, But I believe this possibly could be the best bet for Miami going forward. He may not have head coaching credentials on his resume. Though one can argue that him having had his hands in one of today's more prolific offences, he may fare well in his first H.C. position.

I think it says more about Flynn if Philbin doesn't bring him along.

You have to think Philbin has a very accurate idea of Flynn’s capabilities. If he tries to bring Flynn with him that obviously shows his confidence in Flynn. But if Philbin stays away from Flynn altogether, then I think the writing is on the wall that Flynn is not a starting caliber quarterback.

Personally, I don’t want Flynn. Rob Staton of Seahawks Draft Blog currently has me sold on the idea of taking two shots at quarterback in this draft. Brock Osweiler early and Chandler Harnish late. Hopefully, in the second and fourth/fifth respectively.

Osweiler is ASU's quarterback and Harnish is Northern Illinois' QB.

Osweiler is a junior with limited experience, yet he is very intriguing and seems to be gaining momentum in the draft process. Rob’s initial write up can be found here.

Harnish will be playing tomorrow in the Shrine game for the west team. Rob’s writeup can be found here.

As you can tell I’m a huge fan of Seahawks Draft Blog.

I'm also intrigued by BJ Coleman, QB Chattanooga

He is one of the quarterbacks for the east in the shrine game. There’s a short write up on him here.

He would also be a later round project.

Coleman after today is interesting

late round project like you said, definitely

No, flynn has a bunch of interest

he wont need to follow a coordinator. Flynn will follow the money/starting possibility.

Miami can offer both.

I’d think Flynn would be very interested in Miami now. He doesn’t have a scheme transcendent skill set and Philbin knows how to create a game plan where he can succeed despite his limitations.

Is Kathy Lee going to be DC?

I’m sorry.

Well the talk is that the Pack won't use the franchise tag on Finley.

And that they’re working on a multi-year deal for him. So that could make things a little interesting.

Of course Philbin is going to want Flynn as a FA, and I wouldn’t be surprised now if they franchise Flynn because it looks like they might have a trade partner in Miami all worked out.

Which would mean GB thinks they can get better than a 3rd round pick for him because that’s what the estimated comp pick is (last I heard).

3rd round sounds pretty high.

Would have to be a pretty big contract, right? is that how it works?

Definitely.

Franchise Tag for Flynn takes up an insane amount of cap money too.

Last couple days Jon Clayton has been polluting the airwaves

with the talk of 12+ million a year for Flynn. I think that’s way too high, but that’s the word on the street.

That's not going to happen.

it's reportedly a combination of salary, playing time, and post season awards

but mostly salary… vanden bosch had a front loaded contract making 10 million is 2010 and the titans were awarded a 4th round compensatory pick in 2011 draft…

unsure where Flynn will get paid, but is it too much to think he would get paid nearly the same as Kolb? with all the desperate teams out there, I imagine Flynn will get a 5-7 year deal in the 8-12 million range, but probably the lower end of guaranteed money (maybe a full season?). seems like a 4th round compensatory is about right.
