Brock Osweiler tape review vs Illinois " Seahawks Draft Blog
In the last week we’ve been discussing Brock Osweiler as a possible round one pick and had a look at his tape vs Illinois. We’ve already looked at four other games (USC, Utah, Oregon and Boise State) and I wanted to run through what I liked/disliked about this performance. Aside from the obvious positives (arm strength, ability to make difficult throws into tight windows, mobility) I’ve seen enough evidence now that he can make more than one progression, that he is capable of feeling pressure, that although he does take risks he’s not careless with the football and his turnovers are rarely reckless and that he’s willing to take a hit to make a key completion on a developing route.

Joe Philbin to Miami – how it impacts the draft " Seahawks Draft Blog
The Miami Dolphins will make Green Bay offensive coordinator Joe Philbin their next Head Coach, replacing Tony Sparano. Chris Kouffman called it earlier in the week, suggesting Philbin would also be joined by Tom Clements as offensive coordinator and eventually Matt Flynn as the team’s quarterback. Whether this proves to be a wise move or not, the Dolphins are at least committing to a defined route forward. So how will this impact the draft?

Marshawn Lynch and Earl Thomas have been named to the All-NFC team, as selected by Pro Football Weekly, while Richard Sherman made the publication’s All-Rookie team.

Seahawks have decisions to make with Hill, Hawthorne - Blog - MyNorthwest.com
The prevailing thought among people assessing the futures of the Seahawks' free agents is that the team will make it a priority to re-sign running back Marshawn Lynch and defensive end Red Bryant. What happens with linebackers David Hawthorne and Leroy Hill seems to be more uncertain.

NFL Draft Player Spotlight, Dominique Davis, QB East Carolina – Pro Football Zone
Dominique Davis grew up in Lakeland, Florida and has always loved the game of football. He is the younger brother of Desmond Clark, the Tight End of the Chicago Bears.

Alex Smith makes it to the other side | ProFootballTalk
Alex Smith is the oldest 27 year-old in the NFL. In seven NFL seasons, he’s played with seven NFL offensive coordinators, three head coaches, and 17 starting wide receivers. He’s been benched, booed, injured, and had his toughness questioned by two head coaches.

Cosell Talks: The Ravens Predictable Offense : NFL Films Blog
My film study of the Baltimore Ravens reveals a static, inert, predictable offense that is not difficult to defend tactically. From a personnel standpoint, it is predominantly "2 back," with fullback Vonta Leach a key component in the running game. Take it one step further: it’s primarily a follow-the-fullback run game. Where Leach goes, Ray Rice is sure to be close behind. That simplifies the game planning for the defense. Leach almost always takes you to the point of attack.

NFL.com news: Defensive players stand out on Day 4 of Shrine workouts
The fourth day of practice at the East-West Shrine Game marks the day when coaches shift their emphasis from providing evaluation opportunities to preparing for the game this weekend. While watching Bobby Ross and Brad Childress put their respective squads through more installation periods to tighten up their game plans, the situational periods used by both coaches provided one final opportunity to watch prospects display their skills.

NFL mock draft: If Rams don't trade No. 2 pick, Justin Blackmon is logical target - NFL - Sporting News
Now that the deadline for underclassmen to enter the April 26-28 draft has passed and the list of entries has been released by the NFL, we can compile a more accurate mock draft. The only spots in the draft order that need to be determined are the final four, which will be determined through the final playoff results, and the two ties (which will be determined next month with coin flips at the Scouting Combine).

NFLPA All-Star practice: Battles in trenches highlight physical day - NFL, NFLDRAFT - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com
The first practice of the week in pads was the most physical and most intense of the NFLPA All-Star workouts. The action was best in "The Pit," a drill matching offensive and defensive linemen one-on-one. Some of the biggest programs in the country are well represented on either line, but it was the small-school prospects who made the splashiest plays.

how about that kirk patrick to us at number 12

and polk was regarded as running upright and not great at change of direction. that’s exactly what i saw in the game tape posted of him

I can't argue with your points, but I interpret the tape differently

he does run a little more upright, but I think that’s only a concern if it creates problems in college, and it didn’t. In traffic, he almost always has a good forward lean, and at contact it is very rare to see him knocked backwards by a single tackler. There are a number of very good NFL backs who have played “too upright”.

On the other point, I think there are two types of change of direction, and Polk is not good at the Barry Sanders/LaMichael James 90degree cuts on a dime. He is more of a long strider, and his smooth change of direction when running north/south makes quite a few tacklers miss. He has a good spin move, and good footspeed to maintain his balance after contact. I think his acceleration looks slow when you only watch him because of the long stride, but when you watch him accelerate compared to the players in his immediate vicinity, he usually creates space between him and the defender. I think his college highlights compare favorably to Arian Foster (in college) but with just a bit less top end speed. It will still take a pretty damn fast DB to catch him from behind, and there are only a handful of LBs who could chase him down.

I think his college stats were limited by a pretty poor OL, and I kind of hope he has an average senior bowl so he is more likely to drop into a range where the Hawks will draft him. Go south defense!
