AFC Championship Game Thread: Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots
Completely unsurprising we've got the Ravens and Patriots in the AFC Championship game this year. Who you got winning this one?

Go Ravens?
Oh, and F CBS for all of them picking the Giants. Exactly like the numerous pundits on ESPN who had Carolina over Seattle.

Surprisingly, that's not the moment I remember
I remember Seneca catching that fade in the 1st quarter. That’s the best memory I have of that game.

I just can't see it

Also, seeing that San Diego fired Manusky after one year
It’s pretty obvious the Niners were a playoff team held back by the worst coaching staff ever assembled commensurate with the talent.

There’s nobody to root for.

No I only hate on Sundays when the Seahawks are done
But of course I won’t hate on Pro Bowl Sunday, because the Hawks will take over the game.
And it’s in Hawaii, I mean how can anyone hate.

I've been there lots of times
Maybe it’s like most vacation spots, better to visit and remember the good times than live there.
I also lived in Las Vegas, that place is a hell hole. And you know how I feel about hell holes
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
Yeah I've been to Vegas.
Fun but wouldn’t want to live there. Some places are the opposite. I love living in Alaska but I wouldn’t want to be a visitor here.
Only state I haven't been to
LV smells like a sewage plant in the summer. And the water situation gets worse and worse.
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
Alaska is awesome.
Again I wouldn’t want to visit here right now. But I went to Vegas a few years ago in Feb and it wasn’t bad.
I lived there for 2 years
I’ve been back a few times on random vacations/work. Much better to go for a week at a time.
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
If you don't put any effort into it, is it really hate?
Or just occasional disdain when presented with the team?
You can hate plenty with no real effort
Ignorance and hate go hand in hand. (always, sometimes)

Maybe ignorance isn't the word I was looking for
But instead of any research on my behalf I will just hate that I wrote that.
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
It's hate.
I’m only reminded of it on Sundays.
Hate is a fairly weak word in and of itself.
I don’t loathe the 49ers or passionately wish to destroy them. I just hate them.
Eh, people use it too freely nowadays then.

This is the first time that thought has occurred to me
How funny that this could soon be a legit debate.
Manning should retroactively be the MVP for his entire career
The value of his play was obvious
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
I'm not saying any of us will debate it
But Eli is what, maybe halfway through his career? one would be able to start citing counting stats and SB ring dickwaving and make a convincing barstool argument that Eli had the better career. If one were so inclined.
It's funny that people either want this matchup
Or the Harbag bowl. There’s not that big of a percentage that wants any other SB
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
People like stories. Myself included.
That upset to spoil the undefeated season was great, and a grudge match will be fun, especially since both teams are exciting offenses.
Baltimore vs San Francisco is not enough offense, and I don’t care about the coaches.
NE is fairly 1 sided (the defense is nowhere near the offense)

Even when he “fumbles” the ball, it gets knocked into his other hand.

I actually tried to cook with it like I would a stock or something and it was ok then. But as a spread no thank you, that’s why God told George Washington Carver how to make PB.
Eh
Well to each their own. I think peanut butter is beyond nasty (especially since there is an acceptable percentage of bug parts in peanut butter per the FDA) and can’t figure out why anyone would eat that garbage.
Yep.
I’ll take my bug parts in exchange for peanuty goodness. I’ve eaten bugs for training before so the idea doesn’t bother me.
I make spam musubi
Does that count?
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.

It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
Tofu can be awesome
Most people really have no idea how to cook it and/or have only eaten it from someone who doesn’t know how to cook it.
The texture and taste can be nearly anything you want. If you like spam, I’m guessing I can make it taste like that, only better.
by biju on Jan 22, 2012 1:07 PM PST up reply actions 1 recs
I've had plenty of Tofu
takes on the flavor of what you cook. I don’t go out of my way to have tofu, nor will I ever. But like eating octopus/shark/etc. I can say I’ve eaten it.
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
Have you had crocodile?
Like chicken (of course) and can be very tasty. I would never eat shark personally.
I've even had dog as a matter of fact
I’ve tried a lot of types of food, but the old faithful (cow/pig/elk/salmon) are what I go to.
And the strange animal known as Spam
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
I had dog, not on purpose
It was an L.A. taco stand that got shut down a week later for using dog.
Seriously.
Wow
That’s not right at all. It’s one thing to expect it, another to think you’re getting 1 thing and ending with another. I had my dog in S. Korea, like any meat it kind of depends on how it’s prepared.
I’m not a disgusting person, different cultures have different delicacies and tastes.
I haven’t had croc/alligator/snake.
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am NOT a big man.
This.
Confidential to “The Cheese”: tofu is not a “fake meat”.
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "to talk of many things."
Its a meat substitute primarily.
Maybe not “fake meat” but not real meat.
It's "not real meat" the way broccoli is "not real meat".
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "to talk of many things."
True.
I got caught on semantics again. DAMN YOU INTERNET!
I take your point, and it's possible I get slightly defensive about tofu, the miracle food.
Most of the soy fake meats are not tofu, even though they are also made, as I understand it, entirely from tofu. It’s confusing.
But part of the problem, I think, is that there are foods that on their own are really tasty, but people don’t give them a chance because they are meant to “replace” meats. Such a person might only be thinking, “this does not taste like chicken”, and that’s a barrier to enjoying a healthy, tasty and sustainable food.
Sorry for the rant.
I will concede, however, that face cheese is completely foul. It’s the only food that cannot be substituted.
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "to talk of many things."
Its cool, man.
I had a Vegetarian Girlfriend for a little while and tried some weird shit. Some stuff was mighty tasty and I would eat it again. But she never really attempted to substitute meat, she ate tofu or whey based protein substitutes. I never had the heart to tell her whey protein is from a milk base.
Was she Vegan?
Otherwise it doesn’t matter to a vegetarian.
I grew up in an entirely veggie household.
I can't remember.
She was from a super Hippie family and it was a few years ago. I dumped her for my ex after a few weeks but I remember the food for sure.
I've had some OK tofu.
However, I prefer to have something actually made of animal flesh.
HAHAHA!

You're trying to apply logic to the advertising industry.
The same industry that is trying to convince us that Miller Lite is a manly beer.
Yes but there's stretching the truth to fit the product
And then there’s making the product into a golden goose. I know some manly men who drink Miller Lite, so I can see how they can make such a connection. No one in the history of ever has used the phrase " I think you’re the eggmuffin of.." until that commericial, negative or positive.
Those manly men come up to Seattle and black out
Seriously, my wife and I were in Australia and we had a number of people tell us how they came to Seattle after drinking Australian lager and their weak cocktails and blacked out after just a few drinks.
You can’t drink 3% beer and call yourself manly.
Side note: Marshawn is up to 87.13%
Not that I don’t think that’s enough to win, but we should keep an eye on it.
One thing worth mentioning too: I think it demoralizes anyone who is interested in trying to multi-vote their way to a win with it. I know you and I both must have voted for it 100+ times each so it would take a significant effort to have someone else do that too. We just need to mobilize for the next round and have 10-15 folks doing that and guarantee a win.
