The playoffs are going to suck without Seattle

Think of all the moments over the years. We want the ball and we’re going to score or Laces Out Romo and then of course Hold My Dick last year.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. - Al Swearengen

Houston and Cincy both scare me.

Nawlins will win fairly easily . I think Whomever wins the Texans-Bengals game will make it to the AFC Championship game.

by The Cheese on Jan 7, 2012 1:21 PM PST reply actions

Are you kidding me? I think they're the weakest teams in the playoffs.

Cinncinnati couldn’t beat Baltimore in Week 16 and only made it in because two other teams lost.

by StealthHawk on Jan 7, 2012 4:00 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

I didnt like the Bengals in the playoffs.

but i dont think the texans are one of the weakest teams. Not to sound bias but i believe the niners to be one of the weaker teams, they kick fieldgoals and cant score in the redzone.

I think it would be cool if instead of saying "Beast mode" you could say "you've been Lynched"

by Bruiser89171 on Jan 7, 2012 4:45 PM PST up reply actions

they niners give up more yards a game

and the texans have a better offense then the niners. Texans have a better team then the niners.

I think it would be cool if instead of saying "Beast mode" you could say "you've been Lynched"

by Bruiser89171 on Jan 7, 2012 6:08 PM PST up reply actions

The Texans have

better recievers and RB’s and niners D isnt the top, maybe in take aways, but the steelers have the 1st ranked D. Texans are the better team, but i will agree to disagree here, i respect a good argument. i just think the texans will get farther then the niners.

I know you don't love Flynn

And based on what we’ll need to pay in contract I don’t love him either. But there are two things I do like:

1. Having a QB that can actually anticipate our WRs being open, or knowing that single coverage on BMW is his version of open.
2. Being able to focus that 1st rounder on a different position, and potentially moving down in the draft to acquire more picks.

As a side note, even if we do go QB in round 1

I still think we should work to trade down, if not multiple times. If we think Tannehill (or whoever) is our answer we’ll be able to get him all the way down to the 34th overall pick in the draft.

Man does Arian Foster take a year to get up to speed

He really is missing that short area burst that makes other “elite” RBs a notch ahead of him. At some point in time he’s going to lose a little of that speed and become essentially useless.

its where "until I took an arrow in the knee" came from.

As far as the game goes, it passes time (quickly) and you are generally entertained. So it does what a video game is supposed to do. Single player sucks, to me it’s like drinking alone. I would rather have the multiplayer games, because well, I just do. I understand the reason it’s not multiplayer, because there’s a lot going on. I would pass on it, especially given what you are accustomed to playing.

Pick up a couple cheaper games at a gamestop for the same price or cheaper than 60 for a game you may not like. Because if you attempt to trade it in, maybe you get 30 for it…

After Johnson, Houston's WR depth is mediocre at best.

Again, we’re just younger, not worse. Foster and Tate are an awesome combo….so awesome that Houston would be foolish NOT to trade one of them for a high pick.

I'm still a skeptic of Carroll as coach

Particularly given the fact that his first coaching stints all ended in the 10-6 to 8-8 area.

His last year with the patriots they started 6-2 and finished 8-8 and he was fired. His old teams all had a pretty bad habit of getting off to good starts and fading.

This next season should really determine if he’s learned anything.

Getting two 7-9 seasons out of a blown-up roster is pretty spiffy coaching in my book.

The real question is the players we’re bringing in, and if they’ll mature properly….other than QB, I don’t know what you’d complain about. Okung, ET, Kam, Baldwin, Rice, Miller, Clemons, Wright, Browner and Sherman (and turning Red into a DE)….that’s a pretty good 2-year haul.

The biggest problem with NBC is that they can't get people to watch their "established" shows.

The Office probably would have been cancelled on any other network…..it’s not like ABC and CBS and FOX has better programming, or anything. NBC needs to learn how to better advertise their shows. Whatever they’re doing now isn’t working.

The Networks are dying, but there's still a TON of awesome shows on cable.

Soon enough, F/X and Comedy Central and AMC will be on the same level as NBC et al, and it will be the networks that’ll have to catch up with excellent programming.

You're wrong

Guiness is a famously dark beer with a relatively low alcohol content. No one would call it a “light” beer.

Your local governments may have special laws governing light beers but they only pertain to your particular corner of the world.

by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Jan 7, 2012 6:17 PM PST up reply actions

Actually, they pertain to the entire world

Except the US apparently. Good old exceptionalism, eh?

Guiness doesn’t fall even close to the alcohol definition of light beer. Nor do any regular beers here fall close to your low-cal definition. Keep trying.

I dunno, I thought you did?

Bud Light is defined by its caloric content compared to “regular” beer, isn’t it.

Also, I’m starting to be confused. 5% is normal ABV for beers here, has been for ages. I’m not sure how exactly you define “light”, since normally “light” would indicate lighter beers, as in blond beers, at 4%

Beer in America is typically 5% but light beers are often 4%. Guiness, despite it’s dark color, has a relatively low alcohol content and doesn’t have a ton of body.

OK,

new world fruit bomb: Zinfandel

Zinfandel is a clone of the Croatian variety Crljenak. While it had been theorized that Zinfandel’s genetic twin, the Italian Primitivo, was the source, this grape also originally mutated from Crljenak. Further research may indicate the very first plantings migrated from Albania or Greece.

I think you're confusing "most" for "all"

There are also a number of German (and native) varietals that get made into wine.

by Greetings from the Lord Humongous! on Jan 7, 2012 6:53 PM PST up reply actions

Many, maybe "most" are considered "french"

But what we think of modern grapes are clones/twins etc that have come from France/Italy/Spain/Steppes etc.

And the grapes probably have older history than France

but the vast majority come from the “Old World” yet have a decidely “New World” character. Likewise, a “pale ale” from the UK has a decidely different character than the average pale ale made in Oregon.

It goes the other way, as well: few American craft breweries can make a European-style “European-style koelsch” without using too much malt or hops that are too floral.

Seattle has a pass rush

Its just one guy. Instead of 4-5. Its kinda by design, most teams like a 270 poundish end, like we had in Patrick Kearney or Darryl Tapp. Not a 325 pound run stopper like Big Red. Without the interior pass rush Clemons is the only answer unless you bring the blitz, which is why Thomas and Chancellor are down in the box so much.

He already holds the NFL postseason records for Pass Completions and is third for attempts(in a game), both against Seattle last year. One more drive and he could break the yardage record too-

Drew Brees-425 yards currently

Bernie Kosar-489
Payton Manning-458
Dan Fouts-433

I think he could easily break this record if not today than sometime this post season.

Fitz really is not

He doesn’t have Megatron’s speed, or his ridiculous size/wingspan. Fitz is really good, but in raw talent I think he’s slightly behind Andre Johnson and Megatron. Not by much, though.

I admit I haven't seen as much of Megatron.

But, Larry’s hands are fuckin ridiculous. Totally forgot about Andre.

by the other side on Jan 7, 2012 8:04 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, Fitz does it different than the Johnsons.

He’s probably the most consistent of the three but I’d still take AJ or Megatron over him.

Megatrons records to be broken-

With 12 catches he is tied for second now, 13 is the record held by 4 men. He could easily catch two more if the lions manage to get the ball back.

Also at 211 yards he is approaching the reception records too.

Eric Moulds-240
Anthony Carter-227
Reggie Wayne-221

Either way, someones breakin some records tonight!

Hard to believe that him and BMW are both 6'5" and could easily have been on the same team

along with Nate Burleson. Hows THAT for a receiver corps.

Srsly though, BMW let me down this year. Thank god Tate and Dougy Fresh stepped up. But Dougy fresh was droppin easy passes like BMW was/does. DONT THROW SO HARD TJACK
