Last year I wrote this piece when the Seahawks had 4 wins and 6 losses, at this point that is the worst the Seahawks can do by week 11, meaning 4 straight losses. Yes it is absurdly early to be talking about play offs, but by week 11 we could have a solid idea of where we stand. Nothing will be set in stone though with games against the Bears, 49ers, Rams and Cardinals all in the last 5 weeks. It is fun to put the numbers out there and see how the year shapes up,week by week, even with two thirds of the season left to go.
We will be playing the 49ers this Thursday, Detroit the next week followed by what now seems a very tough game against the Vikings. Bigger surprises are that the Jets and Bills are terrible and the Dolphins are surprisingly good.
Right now the standing for the NFC stand like this:
5 Minnesota Vikings 4-2 ( 1-0 Division 2-1 Conference W- 49ers, Lions L-Redskins) Wins 5th place tie break due to conference win percentage (.66)
6 Seattle Seahawks 4-2 (0-2 Division 3-2 Conference W- Panthers, Packers, Cowboys L- Rams, Cardinals) Wins 6th due to Conference win percentage (.600)
In the hunt:
49ers 4-2 loses Tie breaks due to Conference win percentage (0.500)
No one is mathematically eliminated.
