Right now Seattle stands at 5-4, with one more home game against the Jets, and then their bye week, which will be desperately needed to get some guys healthy.
Really, this game is a must-win for the Seahawks. Why? Because after the bye week they Hawks go to Miami in a 10 am game on the road, and the week after go to Chicago for a 10 am game on the road. Assuming the Hawks beat the Jets at home (which I think they will), our boys will be 6-4 going into this crucial stretch. Seattle has to win at least one of this two games. At this point in the season, 7-5 is much much better than 6-6. Why? Because three of our last four games are at home against our division rivals. And while I think the Seahawks can beat Buffalo on the road, it won't be an easy game, not in the middle of December.
So if we count up our "expected" wins, we can count wins at home over the Jets, Cardinals, and the Rams. I think those are the safest picks as of now. That leaves us with San Fran(home game, but these guys are always tough), Chicago on the road (*expletive deleted*), Miami (winnable, but I can't hold my breath after the Detroit game), and Buffalo (See Detroit game).
If we go 2-2 on the road the rest of the season, we should be locked in for a wild card, barring San Fran from screwing the pooch and us taking over the division lead (hey, anything is possible). Winning all the games I mentioned puts us at 10-6 on the year, finally some validation to PC/JS turning this team around. This will also be our first winning season in...5 years?! Holy crap. Its been a long, hard road.
But thankfully, we're finally there. And we -all- know what the Seahawks are capable of in the playoffs.
EDIT-
I failed to realize that the Buffalo game is in Toronto, Canada. Cool! I also believe that's a dome. Cool! Suddenly I feel a good deal better about this game.
