The Seahawks made a change to their Friday injury report today and officially listed LG James Carpenter as OUT Sunday versus the Vikings with a concussion. Carpenter was not on the team's injury report this week until Friday, so it's unclear when he suffered the concussion, though I'd assume it happened in practice. Regardless, he's a no-go for Sunday, which means the Seahawks will likely move Paul McQuistan back to left guard and start John Moffitt at right guard (just speculation).

It's tough to know if this will be a big blow to the offense; Carpenter has been playing very well at the left guard position and as we know, providing a clean pocket for Russell Wilson to throw from is very important to the Seahawks' scheme. Carp has been good as a run-blocker and as a pass-protector, paving the way for Marshawn Lynch and providing Wilson enough time on play-action to let slow-developing deep shot plays run their course.

All things considered, though it's nice to have some quality depth on the offensive line in McQuistan, Moffitt, and possibly even J.R. Sweezy, it hurts to lose the 2011 first-rounder this week against a good Minnesota defensive line.

Also of note today, the Seahawks confirmed that they will not activate Walter Thurmond from the PUP list for this weekend's matchup.
