So excited
I was teary eyed after the announcement.
Tez is such a soft-spoken, humble guy and I thought that would hurt his chances.

About time. I was gonna lose it if he got snubbed again.

The guy was one of the best damn pass rushing DTs ever.
Seriously the fact that he dominated so many games on Seahawks 1990s teams that were useless only further shows how great he was.

Pure bullshit that Cris Carter got snubbed
No WRs at all is weird.
Read my tweets or whatever - @SSReporters
Totally agree.
Kinda surprised Haley didn’t make it, too. It’s obviously tough to decide, but i thought Carter and Haley would make it this year.
It's total politics in the HOF voting.
Obviously there’s a guy (or guys) that have it out for Carter, and are actively campaigning to keep him out. Luckily we got our guy in now; there’s only so much time Carter and Bettis and Parcells can be kept out.
Turns out John Clayton's still good for something!
by fiftyone on Feb 4, 2012 5:39 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
Right.
But it certainly didn’t hurt Tez to have a respected journalist (in that circle anyways) to argue his case as well.
intersting you brought up Carter
I think that voters are torn between Carter and Tim Brown, and with so many other candidates coming up, it is hard for voters to support both of them, so they split the WR vote. Interesting article comparing the two here:
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/?p=8546
I’ve heard others argue that Carter benefitted from 5-6 years of being the #2 target and not having to deal with double teams, and that Brown’s performance means more because he was dealing with a corner and safety coverage for his entire career. Both are probably at the cusp of being voted in, but given the inherent competition between the two for votes, maybe neither is voted in until they are eligible for the vetarans’ committee or whatever it is.
Smashmouth is the new sexy!
My real suspicion is that the voters are more conscious about getting through the huge backlog of deserving candidates, and letting modern-day guys sit until they get around to it.
It just strikes me as “we should have voted for these guys 10 years ago, but we didn’t for a stupid reason. Sorry Brown and Carter.”
It's about time!!
That’s so awesome, couldn’t be happier for him!

So that’s Largent, Randle, Rice, Harris, and ‘Tez. We’ll get Big Walt in later.
I’m on the fence with Holmgren as HOF coach but maybe him, too.

Ugh....if Holmgren goes in it'll be as a Packer coach.
Maybe if he won a ring here, there’d be a chance, but….
Do we get to claim Rice?

We can’t claim any of those players except Largent and Kennedy

I believe players just get selected, not assigned to a team.
Cooperstown does that but Canton just takes great players.

I'm just going to say this here: If Curtis freakin' Martin is a HOFer, then so is Shaun (and Terrell Davis).
Helps that Martin’s rookie season (which he started and was productive) was also the same year his team went to the Super Bowl; he was always overexposed since then (and playing in New England and New York didn’t hurt, either).
To his credit he had 10 straight (and healthy) seasons of over 1000 yards rushing, but only topped 10 TDs four times (and never came close to having a year like Shaun’s 2005)…depends how much credit you give to reliability over explosiveness.
Shaun shouldn't be in the HOF
Not enough production for a sustained amount of time.
Read my tweets or whatever - @SSReporters
Which is Curtis' merit for being in the HOF
The guy was good even well into his 30s.
Read my tweets or whatever - @SSReporters
Looking over his stats, Martin's 10 years of above-average consistency should be enough to get him in.
Although there are plenty of people who think that spectacular-yet-short careers like Terrell Davis and Gale Sayers also deserve enshrinement, and I’d put Shaun right along those two (also: Shaun had 10 more touchdowns than Martin, in 45 less games).
Shaun is number 14 on the all time TD list.
Shaun had an incredible 5 year run that I would put up against any other backs. If Shaun isn’t a HOFer than very few running backs are deserving.
Winning the MVP will help Shaun's case
I love him, but don’t think he’ll get into the HOF. He has a chance, however.
5 years is pretty short
And while his 2005 was legendary, his career touchdowns are the only standout stat. The rest is half a decade of top 10 rushing- which is great, but not hall of fame material.
I went to yahoo, and
the second comment about the inductees was some asshole new yorker calling Tez over Reed a joke.
I feel bad for Tez, it’s like we ruined his life by drafting him.

Some say 7 years isn’t long enough. It was enough for Gail Sayers it should be enough for Kenny Easley
Oh no, whatever shall we bitch and moan about now?
Eternally looking forward to someone making a Seahawks song based off of Lil' Jon's "Shots" song named "Hawks!"

Jerry Kramer
How can start for the all century team and not be in the Hall of Fame?
I'm too important to this team. Big Stein can't be flopping and twitching.
Most deserving HOF inductee ever.
People always claim its a shame that some greats never got a ring, like Marino and Tomlinson. But Tez never experienced a playoff game. A truely great player that never demanded a trade and never complained about the team.

He played that one game in Homlgren's first year.
I remember reading how appreciative Tez was to his new coach for getting the team back into the playoffs. It’s too bad for him that his career fell right in between the Knox and the Holmgren years.
Totally forgot about the '99 playoffs.
Still, he only saw one game late in his career.

Alright 96!!
Will be wearing my ol’ 1998 Cortex Kennedy jersey tomorrow in honor of this legendary announcement.

Good thing Mike Salk wasn't picking...
He said on ESPN radio today he would have put in Parcells instead of Tez. Later, Clayton came on and said Tez was only on 5 nation-wide games during his career.
Of course, Salk thinks the Fame part is most important, so people with the most screen time and most media talk are more qualified than those out of the spotlight, like most Seahawks.
Who cares?
He’s in. Let’s just enjoy the moment and not pick it apart.

One thing I want to mention, to all the stubborn "the media doesn't care about Seattle" people.
Cortez Kennedy just got elected to the HOF. Cortez Kennedy played as a DT, one of the most ignored positions in the HOF. Kennedy also played his entire career in Seattle, during the franchise’s worst years. Kennedy still managed to win Defensive Player of the Year on a 2-14 team, and finally got into the HOF despite those enormous odds.
The media cares about Seattle. They just care about good players/teams. The inferiority complex can stop now.
by Benne on Feb 4, 2012 11:10 PM PST reply actions 8 recs
I see just the oppostie.
Right now people are complaining their asses off nationwide because Cortez got in.
Had he been a player on an east coast team, he’d be first ballot and people would debate whether Reggie White, Cortez, or Warren Sapp were the greatest ever.
Those weren’t enormous odds against him, he was so good it was inevitable and the voters begrudgingly gave him his due.
And it’s not an inferiority complex.
