Go read and/or watch Matt Ufford's latest thing for SBNation, discussing logo designs of all the animal-based mascots of the NFL, and how they're all, like our very own Seahawks, more like Angry Birds. I like how he said that the old Seahawks logo had a stoic sadness to it, and photoshopped a single tear to it (which symbolizes Seahawks fandom almost too well). I also loved how he pointed out that the Dolphins logo is wearing a football helmet but not a Dolphins helmet, and created this to give everyone a seizure on purpose.
