Our Seahawks have a passing game that is last in the NFL in yardage after two games, second to last in YDS per attempt and Russell has a a pedestrian 2 TD and 1 interception in two regular season games. Russell hasn't looked good in three starts including his last preseason game against the Raiders where he was clearly out played by Matt Flynn. Both the eyeball test and the statistical test grade Russell Wilson out of the the top third of NFL quarterbacks.
Wilson has wild scrambles and plays with recklessness instead of poise. He reminds me of ex Buc's quarterback Shaun King. Wilson has the same inaccuracy as King but a stronger arm and is a much faster runner at QB. Wilson is committed to not turning the ball over, plays with confidence, but clearly needs time to develop. I love his background story and work ethic but starting Matt Flynn must be a consideration at this point. Flynn has been groomed for years under a MVP quarterback and has looked great in each of his starts in the preseason.
My question to you is how many more poor performances can Wilson have or how many games do we have to lose before Russell should be replaced with Matt Flynn? If you think we should make a commitment to Wilson as our franchise QB and start long term then please state your case on why that is the better option over replacing him with Flynn.
