In my opinion our Seahawks are on the cusp of being an elite team and are the most cohesive and aggressive Seahawk team since 2005. Our defense has never been better in Seattle and the special teams is solid. Our Seahawks running game is legitimately good and that's partly a product of our o-line's imperfect but quality performance over the last three games. Our WR's as a unit are probably a bit below average and they dropped two game winning passes against the Cardinals. That being said we get little help from the team's weakest position; quarterback. QB is the main position of weakness for Seattle and it's obvious.
The Seahawks will definitely be in the playoffs if we get average NFL quarterback play but Wilson is playing below average football. I believe it is time start Matt Flynn. I like Wilson as a leader and I believe he can play in the NFL in the future but I don't believe he is the right guy for our team right now. If the expense of grooming Wilson into a potentially good NFL starter is going to cost us the playoffs this season then we should not pay. Matt Flynn is a better fit this year because he has more experience in the NFL and has been groomed in a pass-first Superbowl winning west coast offensive system. I say give Flynn a chance before Wilson's lack of production costs us another game and the playoffs.
I think Wilson could be a good QB down the road (maybe) but right now he is not a precision QB or playmaker. If Seattle can get average QB play then this team could win the division and do some damage in the playoffs. It's depressing to see us play so well everywhere but in the passing game. If Flynn is not better than Wilson then we can always start Russell once again.
Coach Carroll please stop the passing nightmare and give Matt Flynn a chance! Give our team a chance to be elite!
