The Seahawks have made tenders to longsnapper Clint Gresham, safety Chris Maragos and defensive tackle Clinton McDonald; all three became restricted free agents on Tuesday as the new league year started. According to Clare Farnsworth, "Gresham and Maragos were tendered at a level where the Seahawks will have the right of first refusal should they sign an offer sheet with another team. McDonald was a tendered at a level to match his draft status when he entered the league as seventh-round pick in 2009 with the Bengals. If he signs with another team, the Seahawks will receive a seventh-round draft choice as compensation."
The Seahawks also signed K Carson Wiggs to their roster back on March 5th, per Liz Mathews. With starter Steven Hauschka possibly leaving in free agency, it makes sense that Seattle would look for a backup plan to develop.
Finally, if you didn't yet see it, free agent defensive tackle Jason Jones signed a three-year, $9.5M contract in Detroit, his hometown. Considering Jones made $4M this season, a $3.16M yearly average seems a little low for the 27-year old - this makes me think that he wasn't high on Seattle's priority list and that would imply the Seahawks have plans elsewhere.
