So you are now happy that our rival Cardinals just fired Ken-Ken and are now going to be in turmoil for the next few years, think again. What could be worse that facing a renewed and refocused Norv Turner two time a year? Mike Holmgren coaching the Cardinals. That is right This week Holmgren said if anyone is looking he wont be hard to find. His recent failures at drafting are a small piece of why Holmgren will be focused mainly on Coaching, and its what he does best.
As, I said before Norv turner is a very good coach who takes some questionable talent and year in and year out competes for division titles. He is considered a QB guru, Brees and Rivers are just his most recent successes. Having this guy in the division is what I would equal to Jeff Fisher, he will immediately take a bad team and turn them around to a respectable contenders.
Lovie Smith this guy is flat out good at developing talent. Let me put it in simple terms, He won a lot of games with Rex Grossman, and Kyle Orton. He has had 4 first round picks in the last 7 years, none higher than 14. He also has a combined record of 31-20 (including play offs) the last three years.
Chip Kelly, the Coach for University of Oregon, clearly will be at the top of the list for many NFL teams and Arizona is no exception. Why would we care at all about some college coach? Really? Dont forget two important things. 1. Our coach is a successful "College Coach" 2. one of our biggest Achilles Heals is an uptempo offense that keeps our specialized packages off the field. Chip Kelly had his Oregon team taking an average of 88.4 snaps a game. by way of comparison the NFL average is 66.8, but the patriots showed how it can still work with tremendous advantage against the NFL's highest ranked defenses, putting up an astounding 92 snaps against the 49ers.
Maybe we all should have written in to the Cardinals asking them to keep Ken-Ken and their GM Rod Graves.
