The last stand of "The flawed team"

Gather around children and let me tell you a tale of true grit and glory.

It's time to tell the story of the final stand of the early 2013 Seahawks. Game no. 10 of the mythological 2013 seahawks season.

To those of you that did not follow this season up close and personal here are the relevant facts leading to that momentous occasion -

The Seahawks 2012 season ended with a heart breaker in Atlanta. After mounting a legendary comeback they lost the game to a field goal in the last second of the game.

Prior to the start of the 2013 season – The Seahawks were picked as a leading SB contender by all.

Just when things looked bright and shiny for the hawks things started to take a turn for the worse. The injury monster raised its ugly head and Seahawks players started dropping like flies. When the season finally started the Seahawks were already missing their new star offensive weapon(Harvin) and a few key players on the defense (Bennet, Browner, Irvine, Avril etc.)

From that moment onwards the Seahawks had to endure a cruel game of musical chairs. For every player returning someone else was hurt. Both Tackles were gone, injuries to the TE, Center and others kept hammering the team as it rolled with the punches week after week.

It didn't stop the Seahawks from winning most of their games but as time went on people started to doubt their capabilities in this "what have you done for me lately" league.

As the banged and battered Seahawks approached week 10 of the season their record was an amazing 8-1. Game no. 10 sent them back to the scene of the crime. Another battle on the blood soaked green Astroturf in Atlanta. The Dome of doom.

The Seahawks reached this game with what was probably the most makeshift lineup they had all season. Both Tackles were still missing joined by the Center, the run stopping DE and both top Wide receivers. The majority of the so called experts predicted this game to be the beginning of the end.

The above is the road that led us to that game.

However, what most didn't realize is that the Seahawks entered this game knowing it's the last game of this team with this lineup as is and were determined to make this a memorable game.

Why was this game their last game you ask?

Well, by game 11 of the 2013 season the Seahawks unleashed the full might of their roster. With both tackles and Center back, their DE back and their new WR making his debut in Seahawks uniforms. It was a sight to see.

Immediately after that game the Seahawks disappeared into their bye week leaving everybody wondering while they prepared to meet their two main rivals in a period of 6 days.

The rest is history. The stories of those games and what followed them were told many times but very few tell the tale of that last stand by what was later called "the flawed team".

It wasn't a beautiful game. It wasn't a record breaking performance by any means. It was more like their previous lackluster performances than a preview of the majestic powerhouse that followed. It was a last stand of true grit. It was a wounded team that would not give up. They would not go quietly into the night. When all is said and done each member of this team can stand tall and say "We may not have been the incredible Seahawks of the late 2013 season but we held the gates till the last men was down". When the cavalry finally arrived to save the season they held a 9-1 record with a mountain of defeated carcasses at their tired feet.

When talking about that incredible season people always praise the mighty team that ended the season just like they do when talking about the 2nd half of the 2012 season that started it all. Very few remember that without the heroics of "The flawed team" none of it would have happened.

Hail the flawed team on their last stand.
