I've heard a lot of grumbles in the game threads about Coach Carroll's apparent mismanagement of time outs. My own feeling is that there must be some thought, on the part of Carroll and the rest of the coaching staff, that goes into the decision making process. Such a stance is often interpreted as being an apologist for Coach Carroll. So I was very interested to read today an article in the Chicago Tribune, by Rich Campbell, outlining why Coach Trestman of the Chicago Bears, didn't use his timeouts in the waning minutes of the game against the Baltimore Ravens.
I think Trestman offers a pretty compelling logic for his non-use of timeouts and the situation struck me as one where a lot of fans would have been, had this been a Seattle game, calling for Carroll's head for not using them.
