Hopefully everyone's Christmas (or Festivus, or Winter Solstice) went well. Watching my two-and-a-half year old open his presents was a blast for my wife and me, but in the back of my mind I kept asking myself if it was even remotely possible to get that Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, or even that Richard Sherman jersey for the little guy this year. Unfortunately, with money being tight (and who ISN'T having that issue?) that wasn't meant to be this time. However, my son's birthday is coming up in about six weeks, so I get to do some number-crunching to come up with said finances to buy the aforementioned jersey. (By the way, my wife still insists that our son can be a Redskins' fan at the same time...just as long as he roots for them when they play Seattle. Yeah, I had to laugh at that.)
As for watching the Seahawks-Rams game, I can't stream the local broadcast due to market limitations (that's what I get for living on the East Coast) nor do any of the local stations carry it. There's always NFL Red Zone, so whenever the Seahawks are inside the 20 (or if Beast Mode burns the opposing secondary and races into the end zone) my son and I can always watch that. And, of course, cheer on the Hawks.
To everyone here at Field Gulls, I can't thank each of you enough for making me feel like I'm at home again. And, of course, for putting up with my various rants and random comments. Thank you for teaching me the fine art of football statistics and analysis. I'm still learning, and I plan on getting better at it.
Here's to winning on Sunday, clinching HFA throughout the playoffs, and to a bright and prosperous 2014. Including a Halas Trophy followed by the Lombardi Trophy.
Happy Holidays, Field Gulls!
