After a tough hard fought loss in a game we should have won..............It's very easy to make excuses and point fingers. As angry as it makes us, we can't step down to the level of certain fanbases. In these next few days of healing and venting, we need to hold ourselves to a higher standard, that standard to be the best fans we can be for the best team in the league. Our players strive everyday to be the best they can, challenging themselves to beat the conventions of life and the expectations they have of their own bodies. We need to do the same....
Were there bad calls? Of course
Could they have lost us the game? Very well so
Did Pete's misuse of timeouts on the last defensive drive hurt us ? It appears that way
Did we play hard fought football from the 1st to the 4th? Obviously not. I saw a defense that looks sluggish coming off the line, and a offense that looked a little jittery. We didn't control the trenches, and didn't allow Russell any time to pick that soft ass defense apart. We should have won this game by a pretty decent margin.
As a overall team effort............ we faltered.
We can point fingers, but that would be wrong. We can make excuses, but that would be whining. We need to humble ourselves and get ready for this next week. Wins aren't given in this league, they are earned. We learned that yesterday.
btw I'm just gunna shine a little light through the darkness and remind everyone that in the last 2 years the Hawks haven't lost a game by 7 points or more. We have had the opportunity to win every game. Someday..................we will.
