Trade UP Trade UP

Here is the premise: If most of the guys that we now draft are going to have trouble making the team why not use our lower draft picks to trade UP, i.e. the first round, to get a particular player who will make the team. Suppose the Jets, at #9, want more picks (which they desperately do). Why not bundle two or three picks from rounds 6 and 7 for the one first round pick that they have? Or why not bundle 5 (or 6 or 7 for that matter) picks for Jacksonville’s #2? We would get the choice of the most productive players for OUR needs and still have 3 to 5 picks left. Of course we would be trading with people we know (Idzik and Bradley) so there would hopefully be trust and performance of word between us and them. With a high first round pick who do we draft? Take your pick. We are good in the defensive back field. Maybe the best. So draft a defensive lineman that will tear the heads off of opposing offensive linemen (looking for the PC filter here (by the way the NVA used to stake the heads of those they captured)). We are good in the offensive backfield and at WR so draft an offensive lineman that is really offensive. You supply the names. Understand that you can never have enough Grizzly bear lineman salivating for their next meal.
