I will start off by saying I am a big fan of defense. If my memory serves me correctly the Giants defensive line players sort of brought the shredder style facemask into style as an intimidating look for a dominate defensive player. It was new, it looked cool and I really enjoyed watching them win championships against the most elite QB of our time while sporting them. They have died down lately, so I was a little excited to see that Wagner got one in training camp and said he was going to wear it this season. I think Wagner has a high ceiling, and was planning to make a name for himself by being that LB that made plays in a shedder facemask.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen him in one of those facemasks since training camp. Maybe it is for the best and he can let his play speak for its self. Or maybe it was uncomfortable, or impaired his vision or something, but I used to think it was a cool look. I say used to because last Sunday's game has opened my mind to a more intimidating look. The "Beastmode look" is awesome! The tinted visor coupled with the bank robber hood with only a nose hole. Totally crazy looking! I am truly surprised I haven't seen more comments on it (I watched the game in public and missed the game threads, so maybe I am way off there). Lynch looked like some kind of ghost-faced demon spectre out there. I loved it! I hope he wears it more often because it wasn't even that cold out there. I really think he did it because it looks scary.
You can't see his eyes, you can't see his face or expressions, you can't see him talk, you can only see pain coming at you. Some of the replays and photos looked so cool that I can only assume this will be imitated. Just remember that this look is a Beastmode original.
