Gus Bradley Factor: Don't Sleep on the Jags Just Yet

Ok, let me start off by saying that I think the Seahawks absolutely should, and will, beat the Jaguars on Sunday. But there is one reason I am not as quick to notch a "W" in the win column just yet:

Classic "letdown" game? Nope. Always com"Pete"!

The Jaguars are better than we thing? Haha, no. Good one.

The reason I am more concerned than most has EVERYTHING to do with their head coach and our former Defensive Coordinator, Gus Bradley.

The Seahawks front office has mentioned time and time again that their strategy for drafting is focusing not on what a player can't do, but rather on what they can. But as the opposing head coach, that is EXACTLY what your job is: find weaknesses in the opposition to exploit. And who knows this defense's weaknesses better than the guy who used to coach them every day. He knows EXACTLY what it's like to play in CenturyLink field, knows the kind of advantage the D-line gets because of the 12th man, and knows the cover/press skills of this secondary. If there is anyone who would know how best to hit us (and where) it's the guy who knows almost every player on this roster intimately (not to mention that Dan Quinn worked under him before D-Quinn went to Florida).

So yeah. Football is all about exploiting mismatches and Gus certainly has a head-start over our coaching staff in terms of knowing the strengths and weaknesses of his opposition.

My guess: look for a lot of screens and seam routes by Marcedes Lewis that attack the aggression of our front line as well as the relative lack of coverage skills by our LBs (as compared to the LOB). Gus isn't likely to have a lot of slow-developing routes as those are the kiss of death at the Clink.
