I've been a fan of the Seahawks since 1983, and today's Seahawks win against the Texans is one of the most important wins in franchise history. That game was epic. Our passing game is struggling a bit and I'll talk about the headline later but our 2013-14 defense is looks to me like an NFL all-time great and I want to address that. After our incredibly physical defensive line was decimated through attrition last season and our defensive line limped into Atlanta for the playoffs undermanned. The result is that we were punted out of the playoffs. This off-season the Hawks upgraded our defensive line's talent level and depth and the results are that the Seahawk's d-line has destroyed 4 offensive backfields this season with five Probowl caliber savages on the roster leading the attack.
We also start two Probowl level linebackers and when Irvin comes back we get a third linebacker who could be Probowl caliber. Irvin has physical attributes similar to Aldon Smith but slightly smaller and the best hair in the NFL and not the worst .The Legion of Boom keeps putting it on tape and Sherman is emerging into an NFL megastar as he runs for touchdowns in the crunch wearing tube socks. Our secondary has 4 Probowl caliber players and some depth and gets more hype than any secondary that I can remember.
If the Hawk's defense continues to play at this level they will definitely be considered an all-time great defense with potential to be the best! Okay, now back to Baldwin or Sydney. I'm watching our passing game and it's obvious to see that Sydney Rice and Wilson have poor chemistry and it's killing our offense. I believe they are both solid players with good talent but the lack of production between the duo warrants consideration for a change. Doug Baldwin may not be a better run blocker than Sydney, or taller, or have his toughness but I am 90% certain that Baldwin and Wilson have MUCH better chemistry. In fact I believe they Baldwin has more chemistry with Wilson than all other receivers on the team.
This situation kind of reminds me of Hasselbeck and Koren Robinson/Bobby Ingram. The smaller 3rd down/Slot WR's has way better chemistry with the quarterback but are smaller and less athletic and not a protypical X . Maybe starting Ingram and Baldwin would be playing them out of position and hurt the team but I'd like to see the change because it probably won't be much worse.
