Super Bowl

This Sunday San Francisco was offensively humiliated on live television the seahawks injured 3 of their star players some may have career ending injuries and the seahawks proved that they not the 49ers were the best team in the NFL. The game had many lessons to tell for the NFL fan however I would like to target one as the most revealing to me. Fan conduct, I realize their is a big hooplah over Richard Sherman's but in comparison it is mere small potatoes. Earlier this season the San Francisco 49ers faced an opponent and the other teams player was injured and the crowd started to do the wave, Joe Staley a player with true class rebuked the crowd angrily. This Sunday Navarro Bowman was horrifically injured and the crowd broke in to cheers, as he was carted off the field fans rained garbage onto his head howling with laughter and cheering. Mike Iupati broke his ankle and people were cheering with glee. None of the seahawks stepped forward to help, none of them had empathy for the situation for a fellow football player. Earlier in the year Eric Reed was severely concussed on a play his oponnent stood silent vigil over him and helped him up whispering words of comfort to him. Something was won Sunday something huge something impressive. As fans something was lost though on Sunday the 12th man was shown for what it was, a pathetic rabble that mocks fallen players and throws trash on them. Is that the type of fan to be do we want the entire NFL to hate and loathe us as fans because we lack the basest forms of human compassion or dignity. Had the roles not been reversed and it had been Wilson or Sherman lying prone on the field being bombarded with trash would we not see it as horribly wrong. The seahawks are going to the Superbowl in two weeks two days ago we injured an amazing player and acted like animals while doing it. Hopefully as fans we conduct ourselves better in the Superbowl. What price does success exact from us, when can you look at other fans and say no that isn't ok. We can control how people treat our players by our behavior.. Congratulations to the seahawks and its success. Btw I'm not a hawks fan, football fan first team fan second.
