Disclaimer I am not a statistician, so there may be way better ways to show this.
I was reading today on DeadSpin that passer rating does not actually have the best correlation to wins, but rather that yards per attempt and touchdown rate are far better indicators. (Link here). So I grabbed stats from http://www.pro-football-reference.com to see what the stats looked like.
Below is a scatter plot and cross tab with color of each plot point being the interception rate and the shape being if they are playoff bound or not. There are sheets that show how each QB stacks up vs the league or conference average for yards per attempt and touch down percentage. Let me know if I should change any of this, as I am happy to.
Looking at the stats in this way shows that Nick Foles had an incredible year, Peyton Manning was a worthy adversary to Foles' QB crown and that when healthy, Aaron Rogers is one of the most dangerous QB's in the league this year.
Russell Wilson is one of the best young quarterbacks and rumors of Kapernick's demise were premature.
Also, why the Bears chose to extend Cutler over McCown is beyond me.
