YES!!!

WOWWW....they did it....they sent him away.

I wont pretend i know anything about it. Harvin was/is an addictive drug. He makes everyone around him look like they play in slow motion. You just want to give him the ball over and over again and let him work his magic. There is no reason to be happy he is gone and yet i am.

Why? (Other then you can't pay 2 running backs 23M dollars a year)

There are probably lots of reason that made the FO take this step and i'm not privy to any of them. All i know is that i had my hand hovering over the panic bottom all week.

The team that played last year was rare. The minute they took the field they looked scary. They oozed swagger and confidence, they were physical and intimidating, they played with intensity and abandonment that was unparalleled. It was never clearer to see then in the SB. They looked like a pack of hungry lions facing a herd of wilder beasts. They looked like they can't wait for that snap so they can hit someone.

They are not that team this year. They play like every other team in the league. It took the Cowboys game to remember what a fully committed team looks like. The 2014 team is good but it is not talented enough to get it done without the berserkers attitude of the 2013 team.

Reading Danny's notebook on the game I felt embarrassed. When did we become the "almost" team. Almost sacks, almost deep receptions, almost interceptions. It sounded like that other team that almost completed a fade to Crabtree.

When everybody on the coaching stuff started talking about better overall execution I wanted to cry. As a coach i know that you can fix a problem with a player or a specific type of play. You can coach it better, coach around it if it can't be improved or game-plan a solution. Overall execution issues are another way of saying "We can't get anything done properly". At 3-2 this is a scary proposition. It's not bad enough to take drastic measures and won't be good enough to be the lead dog again. Rob Stanton wrote that you don't win anything in October. He is right, you don't. You can however lose a lot in October. You can lose home field advantage, your division title and even your playoff berth.

There are at least 20 teams in the NFL right now that dream about the Giants or the Ravens or the Steelers. All teams that peaked late and won the SB from the wild card spot. There are not so many that fight to lead everyone going there. We should be one of those. We are not.

Something BIG needed to be done. The 2013 team won games they had no business winning. The HOU game was the start, The STL and TB games followed. Without those wins we would be a 10-6 team watching tv in January. Those games were won on swagger and attitude. The 2014 team has neither. Reading how we could tie the game at SD twice in the 4th quarter or could have stopped the cowboys on that 3rd and 20 is demeaning. "We held Manning for 59 minutes" or "We kept Murray at bay for 56 minutes" is insulting. "You win games on the 4th quarter" (Pete Carroll, coach of the legendary 2013 Seahawks)), this team doesn't do that.

Sending Harvin away is a recognition by PC, JS and everybody else that we can't and won't be this team anymore. It's a statement to everybody on this team that Tomorrow better be a new day. It's a step taken not a minute too soon.

We have most of the players that made the 2013 team what it was. The trumpets are blaring for them to take their place and lead this team back to it's true identity. It will either work or we'll need to face the fact that the 2013 team was indeed something rare and special that can not be easily repeated. It happened to special teams like the 2000 Ravens or the 2002 Bucs. It could happen to us. I hope it doesn't and i'm happy the FO won't sit still while it does.

The aftershock game tomorrow at STL with all the injuries and confusion could go bad and signal a long and painful season or it could be a dawn of new era. It will all start with the defense. The short age of outscoring an opponent is behind us, the Seahawks are back.

It's time to solve the "execution issues" and go execute someone.

Go hawksssssssssssssssssssss
