The NFL Draft is still 15 days away, so we have to settle for this as genuine news. The 2014 schedule has finally been released, and while we already knew who the Seahawks were going to play, we now know what dates they are going to play.
Before today, the only game date set in stone was the Thursday night home opener. Now we know our opponent, which will be the Green Bay Packers. I wonder if there was some recent event involving these teams that the broadcasters might reference all night. Nothing is coming to me, though. Can anyone help me out here?
Anyway, the popular speculation was that the Seahawks would play either the Denver Broncos or San Francisco 49ers to open the season, but those games will wait for another date. The Super Bowl rematch will happen in Week 3.
We'll get a special turkey gift this year when the Seahawks travel to Santa Clara on Thanksgiving. Seattle last played on this holiday in 2008, when they lost to the Dallas Cowboys. The rematch in CenturyLink Field takes place just two weeks later.
All told, the Seahawks will have four primetime games this season--two on Thursday night, one on Sunday night and one on Monday, pending flex scheduling. NBC seems to have faith in the Arizona Cardinals, putting their home match with Seattle on in Week 16. Their one MNF game this year is against the Redskins, who are still getting primetime slots because NFC East.
Here's the complete season schedule to help you mark your calendars and set vacation times (times are Pacific).
