Thousand Words Dept: Seahawks Roster By Age

During the Super Bowl, much was made of the youth of the Seahawks (average age of 26.4). And the team may be getting younger: As shown in this chart, 80% of Seattle's current roster is between the ages of 22-26. The oldest players on the roster are Tarvaris Jackson (30) and Jon Ryan (32). Although some of this distribution is due to the roster churn of 2010, there is an obvious asymmetry with a positive skew.

The median is about 24.5 years and the mode is 24. While those figures will likely increase as core players mature, we can expect that a key part of the "plan" that Pete Carroll often invokes will be to keep them as close as possible to the current values.
