What are all of your predictions for our record against these bad boys this year? It's a boring time of year even though the M's have shown they won't completely suck. I'll give my thoughts on how the 6 death matches will shake out and give my uneducated/ extremely biased reasoning for these games. My reasoning is that these games are important in establishing dominance and confidence. We should know what kind of team we are based upon these 6 games and it goes without saying that if we can match or improve on our 4-2 divisional record from last year, then we will be playing into January and hopefully February.
Arizona: 1-1: I know that Hawks would rather watch an entire week of Seattle Storm basketball w/o commercial interruptions then lose to these birds on our home turf again. That said playing in the desert is never easy for any team, and especially not for the defending champs. They have talent still on defense, and enough skill players like Ellington and Floyd that should grow into legit threats against us. We should have decent offensive production against them, but by no means do I expect us to blow them out. Both games decided by 7 pts or less.
St. Louis: 2-0: I'm actually scared of these boys even more than last year. My reasoning is that we all know their D-line will F up even the best offenses in the league, but their selection of Greg Robinson could make their running game straight nasty. Most people forget that Zac Stacy was an animal until his guard and center went down in consecutive weeks which basically allowed defenses to tee off on him. I have a hard time predicting about Bradford because there's not enough consistency for the Hawks to truly respect him, but when he's locked in he is a threat. I dunno I still think their rushing game is a make or break aspect for their offense. We will win by about 10 points at home, but on the road it will again be by 7 pts or less.
Bitches/ / 49ers: 1-1. Sorry I've had a few beers and site decorum can eat one. Honestly this team is exactly what they have been. They have limitations and warts and if the hawks bring the same fire, gameplan, and discipline then I can see a sweep. Not likely though. They may or may not remember us ending their season so I see us dropping a tough Thanksgiving road game while defending our turf a few weeks later. A lot depends on Kap's progress. I can see why 49er fans are excited about a full season with Crabtree, Davis, and Boldin opening up things for Kap. Frank Gore has always been a grown man running the ball, and apparently they have added the next Walter Payton in Carlos Hyde while also having a future Ap in Lattimore. They have talent no doubt and I haven't even mentioned their defense. However, I and all the 12's should remember that w/o their running game, Kap has trouble. Throwing against 7-8 defenders dropping into coverage is always tough, but with our system, we should be pleased if we find Kap having to chuck it against us. That's a win for our scheme . I'm interested to see what Harvin does against them especially with all their new faces in the secondary, but also I'm interested in seeing their front 7 covering Lynch running down hill, Harvin running laterally, and P-Rich running da bomb all game long.
