As training camp opens, we will begin to see different players filling roles that were vacated by departing free agents. Punt returner is one such role, and a few names have been thrown out as possible candidates: Sherman, Earl, Richardson, etc. My question is, if Sherman is being considered for punts, why has he not been used as a receiver? He might be a great option for a goal-to-go jump ball. 6'3" with great ball skills, former college receiver... The seahawks have needed a tall red zone threat at WR, so why not? Even if he's used just as a decoy, what's the downside? (Of course, I understand the "injury risk" but many starters play special teams.) Can someone enlighten me?
