I refuse to call that a great (or even good) game. Both teams played horribly. But man oh man, that last few minutes were something else. Here are some thoughts on it.
- It's kind of odd looking at the final stats - we had better rushing, similar completion percentage, much better Y/A and total yards, much better 3rd down conversion rate, more total plays, and a similar time of possession.
- Do people believe me now, when I say we don't want it to be windy or rainy? I know everyone does a bit worse in those conditions, but I think the Patriots had even worse conditions than we did and things ended fine for them. As far as I remember, Wilson, Willson, and Kearse all have a history of really struggling in rainy weather. I think I might start advocating for benching Kearse and Willson during rainy games.
- Speaking of rain, does anyone know what the odds of an onsides kick succeeding are when it rains? I would assume it changes things a fair amount.
- Where was Norwood? Everyone thought he'd finally see the field today, and most of the people ahead of him were really struggling. I'm glad with how things turned out, but I never saw him, and PFR says he had 1 target all day.
- When is Lockette going to get any love? Sure, it was a small sample size, but he caught both passes to him for 11 and 14 yards, and on his run play (WTF?) he managed to get 4 yards even though he probably should have been tackled for a loss. On the season, it's fairly similar - 11 receptions on only 15 targets, with 17.7 Y/R and 2 TD.
